bobafett4ever got a reaction from OlovR in Need help with Officer sizes, can't decide on medium or large tunic
So, I hope this helps, but I'm 5'9", 150 lbs, and when I had CosplaySky make my original uniforms, I used the below measurements.
    Height 177 cm
    Weight 70 kgs
    Chest 92 cm
    Waist 85 cm
    Hip 101 cm
    Neck 39.5 cm
    Shoulder Width 48 cm
    Shoulder to Waist 48 cm
    Arm Circumference: 30.5 cm
    Waist to knee 51 cm
    Outseam 96 cm
    Inseam 72 cm
    Thigh circumference 55.5 cm
    Arm Length 60 cm
    Cuff Circumference 15.5 cm
    Calf circumference 35 cm

I just ordered the Olive Green wampa wear Medium, and they just fit.  I wouldn't say it's tight, but you look to be a little larger than me, so I'd also recommend Large.  I can freely move in the tunic without feeling like the back is going to split, but when I lift my arms up I feel it like I wish I had an additional inch on the length of the sleeves.  I'm super skinny so the waist of the pants are fine because I can use the draw strings that come with it to pull it in, but the length is just long enough for me... again I wish I had an additional inch on the length of the pants.

Ok, so I think I'll go with large then! Cheers!

Hello and welcome.  Joey's advice above is great.
I'd just ask do you know which Officer you're going for as there are a few different CRLs, and depending on which you choose will help determine what you need.

No matter what you are getting, Wampa Wear is great and you'll get the tunic, trousers, hat, belt, and potentially gloves from him.  The uniform sizing is true to US standards, so if you wear a Medium normally, get the medium.  Unlike the flightsuits, the uniforms seem to match up great.

As for accessories, I always recommend, like Joey did, Philoprops for the code cylinders and belt boxes.  if you can, spend the few bucks extra and get the real dosimeters he sometimes sells.  The sizing on the belt box will be determined by the CRL.

Note when you order the hat, if the disk has a notch or not, again depending on the CRL.

Pick your favorite star wars Officer and get the matching rank bar... make sure to get push button and not the plexi glass (for the higher level submission should you choose to later on).

If you get a blaster, get the holster from Darminsprops on Etsy.  He does excellent leather work and I have his e-11 and SE-17R currently, and in the past had a few others of his.  Always a perfect fit for the blasters.

Last are the boots.  I've purchased pairs from AntiguaHouse and MilitaryclothesUSSR on Etsy.  Both are great... just a matter of which have in stock the correct ones... remember, you want the higher riding boot style, not the jack boots as they won't work for the Officers.

    I hope that helps.

there is actually a discussion underway with the LMOs over shared materials with other detachments.  I know that JRS has deviated some from what we had, but these SHOULD be the same items used repeatedly.  I'll let you know what we fight out.  We just started talks with @stormtrooperguy recently.

Changes approved and wiki has been updated.  I suspect they'll be live shortly.

The clock starts now, on the old style being grandfathered out.  The next administration can make the final call.  (if that's us, I'd say somewhere between 3-6 months, so we'll see)

Meanwhile, both styles are approvable.   (If you're starting now, though, I would definitely not spend money on anything other than the more accurate newer style!)

I predate the CRLs.  I’m starting my 18th year in the Legion in January.
We made the best decisions with what we could see.
When I see the picture of this outstanding costume, we should be asking people to prove how it’s NOT accurate.
spoiler: they won’t be able to.  That makes it screen accurate.  The discussion should end right there since we aren’t going for “prop accuracy” like some of the amazing, but clinically insane (much love to you, Fetts!) Boba Fetts who track down original pieces and don’t use any reproduction pieces.

Look at the ANH costumes.  Those F451 things, etc.
    The CRL can change.
We aren’t lowering our standards.  Nobody out there in the general public gives a crap about princess seams and most of them don’t couldn’t even tell you what they are.  Approximately 98% of all non legion people I’ve asked over the years done even realize Vader’s costume was different in every movie.  You think potential seams barely visible not shown on screen on the back of a costume is what’s gonna hurt the credibility and reputation of the legion?
Not as much as this, quite frankly, “weird flex” attempt at elitist gate keeping.
Are we doing this for us, or for them?
Perfect is the enemy of good.

I don't know if this matter either way, or not, but thought I'd chime in in case it helps.  Although I'm one of those folks that believes if it's seen on screen then it should be good in a CRL, I do completely understand about something like FO boots should only be for FO and not OT.

I did speak to David Crossman in 2017 or 2018, and at the time I was talking to him, via email, about the Solo Fleet Trooper (which at the time the concept was for them to be a female only group so I didn't really dig too much deeper after finding that out).  But, I can provide an email, if it matters, where he did tell me that in Solo, they did use some FO boots when they ran out of the others...

Per Mr. Crossman:  "As they [referring to the Fleet Trooper] are wearing breeches, we use[d] the taller officers style field boot with buckle at the top to fit it at the calf, and we would preferably use a boot with a heel rather than a wedge (the wedge soles are 1st order but they are in our tock so are used sometimes when we run out of boots.)"

Anyhow, that's why in Solo, and probably R1, we see some minor background folks with the F.O. boots.

At any rate, I love what you all are doing... consolidating yet keeping it simple.  Brilliant, and will pay off in the future for sure!

I was asked to create a new thread to that would detail the changes that will be made to the former Staff Officer (Non-Saga).

It will be getting the same treatment as the the Imperial military officer did, consolidating some CRLs and allowing greater functionality and options for members to use this costume.

It will have straight pants and Chelsea boots as an option. It will allow face characters including those that do not have hats as long as a reference can be provided. It will be the only black uniform to have a trench coat and/or poncho. It will have a broader option of ranks available. The Navy Trooper Helmet will be an option with this uniform. The entire CRL will be renamed from Imperial Staff officer to Imperial Security Services (Non-Saga) as the production refers to these uniforms enlisted and officer as the security services.

If a member is able to do this uniform with the body armor from the Coronet Spaceport scene from Solo, that will be included as optional gear and another version.

Reference photos will follow and the write up will be available here to be reviewed before submission to the LMO office.

Guess I'm watching ROTJ again... here's all the comm pads I spotted using only the film.

Not the bridge crew, but still a comm dude.

Kinda hard to see.  My crappy eyes make out a red square that looks to be the mysterious "coin" slot badge, as well as a tiny bit of black in the middle that might be a slot or paint.

His brother sitting at the control desk has a better view

This guy has a red square that seems filled in, as well as the white boxes "above" it.  There's something white to the left ("up" relative to the picture) of it as well.  To the bottom of it I see another white blob (left in the picture) which based on it's location makes me think the color scheme is different than the JRS scheme picture.

Okay onto what I think counts as a bridge crew:

Again I see the white box, no slot.  There's something red to the side of it to me.
The olive-brown-gross color button on the bottom left is visible to me.  So I think this comm paint scheme matches the JRS one.

    ROTJ TKs look weird...
Skip ahead through Jabbas whole ordeal, Emperor shows up.  Jerjerodd keeping his eyes forward behind Vader is actually kinda silly.

Next time we see them is when Han and Luke are trying to slip by in Tydirium.

This guy clearly has one, but I can't make out details.

Also, as an aside, I see several crew here with headsets.  Why aren't they allowed for ROTJ L2?

ANH and ROTJ bridge crew shall not wear headsets.
Anyways, the next time we see a comm is on the ground.  Can't really make anything out again here, but still a neat little peak

This AT-ST driver gives a really good view:

Unfortunately the angle isn't good enough to see a notch or not.  He gets beat up and killed before we can see another clear shot.

The last view in the trilogy we get is this one here, but still hard to make out colors or shapes

In conclusion, tough to say using only film refs.  If I had to go with my gut, I'd say geometry wise they're identical, but colors could be different between pads.

Interestingly, the Battlefront 2 renders don't have the notch, but use the previous color scheme:

bobafett4ever reacted to lantern2745 in Staff Officer (black uniform) Update
    Hello officers!

So going back to February of 2018 there was discussion of updating the Staff Officer, (black) CRL to bring it in line with Rogue One and Solo.
I've been saying I wanted to get this done, but saying things doesn't do 'em.

Most of the work was done HERE by @Steven, with input from many many others.

I've gone through and tried to verify all aspects of that research using 4K screen captures from Star Wars Screen Caps of both Rogue One and Solo.

What I've come up with (in the next post) is a detailed draft CRL.  We have new photos ready for the parts (where needed) and I want to bring it to all of you for critique.

The thrust of this revamp, is two fold.
Firstly, to get R1/Solo costume parts as approvable.  Technically they already are, since references always trump CRLs.  But this will take any potential fight out of using these parts.
And secondly, to get Staff Officers right.  What we refer to as "Staff Officers" - prior to R1 and Solo - did not appear on screen.  In A New Hope, their uniforms weren't simply black versions of the Line Officer uniform.  Hence, we now have ANH Staff Officer as it's own CRL.
Staff Officers as we classified them didn't appear in ESB or RotJ either.  They were all Warrant Officer in RotJ or Navy Officer in ESB and RotJ.  But they didn't wear rank bars.
So now that we have a proper ANH CRL, I want the "old" CRL to encompass what we know - which excludes ANH.

This wil NOT affect anyone who is already approved with the Staff Officer (black) CRL.  They're grandfathered in.
It will affect approvals going forward.  And the last thing I want, is for someone who is close to submitting photos to get denied because we've updated the CRL.  So if this proposal carries the day, it will have a lengthy grace period and ample discussion with GMLs before being green lit.

So here is a rundown of the changes.
Hat disk no notch LVL 1 Tunic yoke dart language changed at LVL 2 Rank can be any config that isn't exclusive to ANH LVL 1 R1/Solo sized buttons LVL 2 Single bar only LVL 2 R1/Solo rank only LVL 3 Between 0 and 2 cylinders LVL 1 Silver toned clips LVL 2 Belt grooves LVL 3 Krennic strap on boots LVL 3 Belt boxes R1/Solo sized LVL 1 (optional) Added short gloves (optional) Only accepted blaster SE-14R (optional) SR-14R holster (optional)
Now, blasters from comics can be added as references are brought forward.  However, it can't JUST be a reference.  If an approved costumer gathers the reference AND has the blaster, we can reveiw the entry.

Also, the FO boots aren't included yet.  We know they were used.  But other than Milton Putna in the Visual Dictionary, I can't find a clear example of them in the screen caps.  Also, there seems to have been a hybrid FO boot with a heel to further muddy the water.
I don't want the perfect to be the enemy of the good here though.
In terms of accuracy, this proposal is a seismic shift in the way things have always been and changes one of the oldest CRLs in the IOC.

With all that said, please read it over and ask questions.

    - Jeff
