    Heyhey!

There's a veritable trove of info on Thrawn appearance over on this thread:
However I'll pull out the stuff pertinent to wigs!

    Wig options

Wig Is Fashion: Chinese based website with NA/EU/UK shipping options, no short cut options available but many variations on blue lacefront wigs that could be cut to suit. Will also do custom with any existing color, based on photos, in the 100$ range. Your best quality for a low cost option if you can't use your real hair.

    An example from WIF: https://www.wigisfashion.com/collections/blue-wig/products/lf1615

Enchanted Sea: Instagram/Deviant Art, cosplay artist who has done custom Rebels Thrawn wig in the past.

Hero Hair: high end, full custom, film-quality handmade wigs.

Additionally there's Webster Wigs that carry a really gorgeous steely blue colour in a good selection of lacefront wigs, for that swept-back hairline. Run a search there for "Jewel Blue" (Their product links change a lot so thats probably easier!)

Unsure if I'm reading this correctly but were you after a place for boots?
I'm not sure ImperialBoots are doing FO boots anymore. I know that Crow Props (on FB) offers an FO style boot. JDOS props (also FB) might be worth approaching. There's also Magnoli Clothiers but those are pricey (very nice though). I believe the CRL model got his boots custom made so it may be worth reaching out to him for information there.

My point is that some people are so wrapped around where a costume will go, less focus is put on making it a good costume. It's a cool uniform and I like it. It's not military (some folks don't know there's a difference between a police officer and a military officer), but I have no objection of it being here, and I encourage anyone to post WIPs here if they want. I am actually kind of surprised its been this long after TLJ has been out that no one has sparked much interest about it here. Of course, IOC is a great place to host it and share resources for it so no issue there.

GDMorti got a reaction from bjsavage7 in Facial piercings (covering them)...
Late to the party but for posterity: I cleared my Hux with a labret (center of lower lip) piercing and four ear piercings, two of which were stretched to a 4mm gauge.
I took my submission photos with a very subtle, clear retainer in my labret, removed my unstretched ear piercings (they wouldn't just close up if jewellery was not worn in them for a day etc) and wore matte, fleshtone plugs in my stretched ears.
This was not only never brought up as part of my approval process, but as I wore the same jewellery throughout my time trooping as Hux (before I removed almost all my facial jewellery around a year ago) it never came up. Not in the locker rooms getting changed, not by my garrison command staff, not by any of the members of the public I encountered on a troop.
I believe that if you go to a concerted effort to remove, or in case of inability to remove, to conceal (stretched ears can either leave unsightly holes or even tighten up without their retaining jewellery, and you really shouldn't repeat the stretch process over and over because you took your jewellery out.. and any mouth piercings are renowned for healing to the point of painful or impossible jewellery re-insertion within a number of HOURS.) that the legion doesn't discriminate.
It might be that you need to use fleshcoloured, low profile, clear or similar retainer jewellery in your eyebrow piercings. With some time and healing, you may be able to comfortably remove for the duration of a troop. At the very least, if you're a slow healer and it may take some time before you can trade out the jewellery, at least that gives you the time to work on your costume etc?

This is fair, but detachments are usually a good hub for a costume in development to receive input and help from members of the detachment it's gonna end up sitting within? Building a new to legion costume in isolation is.. daunting. Having an idea of where it might sit and reasonably agreeing upon it so that a builder might take advantage of a detachments resources and member knowledge can only be beneficial!

    Ahoyhoy!

Looking really good! I have a couple of questions though after perusing the visual dictionary and trying to squeeze -anything- of use from the movie itself.

    Jacket:
I notice that you've got a prominent cuff seam on the right sleeve, I can't see any sign of that on the jackets. :S Ditto for the rear seams on the sleeves. It doesn't help that solid rear views of this costume are like photos of bigfoot! Is that something that could be resolved? Or is there a reference I'm missing?

    Pants:
Gosh the flaps on the outer thighs from TFA to TLJ really jump! They're a lot wider, which you seem to have nailed here.  It could just be the angle of the photos being taken but I'm unsure that the angle from the hips, out to the top of the flaps is quite steep enough?
Additionally, the hip-straps (thats the only way I can think to describe those decorative strips of fabric on each hip!) should be present and clearly visible, due to the short length of the jacket.
Aaand finally, it could be because taking photos of black uniforms is a nightmare but, are the thin pintucks on the front of each thigh present? You can see them on all pants of this particular design type in the visual dictionary!
Unlike the TFA thigh-flaps on the outer thigh, I don't believe that the flaps are completely sewn together from the top to the bottom. Creating a really tight trouser leg with flap detail. Rather, they're sewn together for several inches at the top, stopping just after the angle out to the top of the flap ends, then are left open like jodhpurs style pants. Is this how yours have been made? It's really hard to tell on your photos! The curse of black uniforms! XD

Yeah! There is a little bit of variation in that some have rank bars and some don't but thats all I can see!

If possible, the wide hook and eye closures should be used for the front closure, rather than snaps or the "bra strap" style hook and eye closures which have been used here.
In the visual dictionary images of Chief Petty Officer Unamo, you can slightly see the same metal closures used on Hux and Mitaka, just visible in the opening of her jacket.
Thankfully these are easy to source and should be a case of replacing with the closures already there. In Europe they are wide hook and eye closures sold by Prym, I believe. In the USA, they are the same, but sold by Dritz.

I agree, it's tricky to pin down solid screenshots proving this in TFA, however in TLJ you get a few reasonable shots of the back of the same style jacket with no seams present that I can tell:

The very far right of the screen is the curvature of the back of someone wearing this style of jacket, you get a pretty good look at it if you check the movie. No seams at all that I can see.

There are -so- many instances of double stacked rank bars in the comics, that it would be extremely short sighted to dismiss doubleranks on black uniforms. I'm not even sure why this is being argued again, when clearly enough evidence was produced in the past to warrant the reversal of just such a restriction, surely? Do we have to regurgitate all the comics panels again and again?

Also grey tones are used in comics and general artwork regularly to avoid having to colour black with -actual- black which would look terrible.

Only thing I am worried would be the top modification since I don't have a leather sewing machine. I will see if there are any cobblers around town that could do it for me. Time to locate rubber soles now....

Agreed, pants and gloves look great!  The gloves aren't a 100% match to the original, but unless Disney releases better reference images to the public, those are about as perfect as we're likely to see.  Very nice job.  Will your source sell any more?

My personal opinion is the belt and shoulder strap should both be the same width: approx 2" wide.  That's how the original is.  But I'm not in charge of this CRL approval, so I don't know what they'll require for that, in the end.

    Otherwise, this looks fantastic.

    Hi Francesco
Amazing costume! Really impressed with this one and loving the fit overall, the greeblie on the belt with the two buttons is especially nice.
Just a couple of points though!

    - As you've already mentioned regarding the gloves, I'm pretty certain that they are white leather too. Which would make sense as all the other officers in the First Order use leather gloves. I know that there arent many references available for this costume but will have a dig around and see if I can find something which shows the gloves. I would imagine that they are plain-backed with no decorative stitching on the back of the palm, like all other gloves in TLJ.

    - Would it be possible to get a close up photo of your blaster, the blaster holster, and the greeblie on your belt?  From what I can tell they look great! Would just like to see them on their own.

    - Regarding your boots, do they have seams running up the back of the calf? I'm unsure if that would be admissable. All FO boots follow the same design and while they do have zippers in place, they are on the inside of each boot. There is no stitching/seams at the back of the boot.

    - The only little personal nitpick I would mention is the way that the shoulder-strap for your blaster holster attaches to your belt at the back. I know that we don't have much reference of the back of the costume, I believe you only see it from behind here:

However I believe that a loop with a snap, might move around as you wear the costume. I'm also not overly fond of the look of the loop, personally! The First Order  seem to stick to things attaching seamlessly to other things! Would it be possible to use industrial velcro or similar so that the strap goes over your shoulder and then attaches seamlessly beneath your belt?

Honestly though, a really great costume so far.
