Tentayena got a reaction from kman in Fabric for FO Lt.
Oh man, so I had to do a pretty big deep dive to try and figure out what I used for the CRL a zillion years ago, but i was actually successful!!

The fabric I used was originally from the now defunct fabric.com, and was Kaufman Bi Stretch Gabardine in "charcoal"
The manufacturer seems to still be around, and the fabric is listed on their website, but i didn't see a way to order it.
    https://www.robertkaufman.com/fabrics/bistretch_gabardine/B065-1071/

I found one site that was selling it, but i've personally never ordered from them before so I cannot vouch for them, and one person selling some yardage on etsy. There is also someone selling 55 yards of it on ebay for $350 if you know a lot of people who also want first order uniforms lol
    http://www.shushustyle.com/sss/item.aspx?ItemID=1022
    https://shorturl.at/oQX89

I can't say with 100% certainty that this is the same fabric, but it looks EXTREMELY close from the pictures and the screenshots from my really old build thread

I will also throw out there that the fabric is pretty lightweight, so it will need some decent interfacing if this is what you go with.
    Good luck!!

This is complete and utter poodoo.
Not once was I (former DL) notified that this would not be accepted, or I'd have yelled from the top of this hill that I'll die on, that this was a bad decision.
Mountain Trooper is based solely on a toy.
Captain Cardinal is 90 percent based on a toy (that has the wrong helmet!).
All the Spec Ops Army CRLs are based on crudely drawn comics, and look like bargain basement SWAT team members - which is why we didn't want them.
95 percent of the clones died before order 66, thus shouldn't even be 501st.
But because the back of a black costume isn't seen in full daylight, you're gonna nix it?
This is precisely the flawed reasoning that made me vote NO for your ratification.

    Hiya!
Individual paint shades are going to be up to your GML, but in my personal opinion you could use the 587 as a base, and then B5 for contour and shading! Blending them together would also be an option to get the 587 a bit darker, but I'll be honest I haven't worked with aquacolor before so I'm not sure how feasible that is.

If you can get ahold of it, EBA's Endura is my go to for Thrawn/Chiss in general. It's liquid, so you can mix colors together to get your desired shade, and then you can contour with a matte blue powder. It's also alcohol based, so after it's sealed, it's not going ANYWHERE, which is a bonus with that white collar.

Hi I have a question to ask you, I am preparing thrawn version rebels to enter 501, and I wanted to be sure to buy the right make up for face and hands.  As per CRL I searched for light blue and medium blue and found these 2 from the kryolan brand, can they fit for approval in 501?  Thank you

Because Star Wars Merch hates me personally, I have never actually been able to find collectors items of my favs
So I just make them myself!

I know it's just a pop figure, but Lieutenant Mitaka needs more love, and it was really fun to make
Even if I had to murder a Hux figure in the process and that was a little heartbreaking

Tentayena got a reaction from kman in Eli Vanto CRL
The CRL team discussed this a while back, since I also have a fondness for Vanto.

The uniform from the later issues of the comic didn't have enough differences to warrant a new crl, however the earlier issues depicted him in a green tunic with an ISB style closure at the top and no seams in the back. This could likely be a new CRL, however it would likely be a generic as well, since several officers are seen wearing that style of uniform in the comics.

Finding another human being to take a photo for us on Friday won't be hard to do, with most of the detachments still doing their stuff on Friday I'm sure someone reliable will be there with a camera that can snap photos and get them back to us.

If you have to jump through these hoops and deal with those hurdles for something as simple as adding one frigging sentence "Rank may be worn either Red or Blue row up"; then that tells me the "system" has major flaws in it. I can understand going through them if the CRL is new, or getting a major revamp. But for adding one sentence to fix an issue that has been known for years? Common sense should tell you that a detachment CRL person and DCO should be able to fix minor things like this on the fly; without having to take a vote, jump through hoops, deal with hurdles, etc.

This should have taken a grand total of ten minutes to deal with.

What is “official” though? If the movies are official and overrule all other media, and we totally ignore all other media as “mistakes” when the don’t match the movies specifically, are we getting rid of the Hask CRL for example because the programmers admitted on Twitter that it was supposed to match the movies but they screwed up?

I don’t have a care which way a rank bar is, or if a CRL is retconned when we have new info - but if we want to quote consistency let’s get real and BE consistent, not just consistent when it’s convenient and doesn’t affect people we like.

What is eminently more frustrating is that this is an known issue that has been lingering for years. It has been asked for repeatedly, and evidence for both variations have been presented. Only to disappear in to the void and ignored. This should not just be an oh hey they whining again lets look like we are doing something for 2 seconds then we never speak of it again. Just. EFFIN. FIX. IT.

We can say that we "know" what a Director rank bar is supposed to look like, however this is using a new rank system developed for Rogue One. R1 came out ages after Ysanne's appearance.
We also know irrefutably that the rank system of the Empire is a complete shambles, with very little consistency outside of a handful of face characters. What we piece together and "presume", trying to make sense of it all using information corroborated by other sources. Books, comics, card games, etc. The only ranks we can say are "sure things" are the R1 and Solo ranks, thanks to a rank system (which again, often contradicted a lot of the information we thought we "knew" from previous media) provided by Glyn Dillon. That alone reads to me like a conversation along these lines happened: "oh god this rank system is a nightmare, we should really hammer this down". So they did. Holding the entire back catalogue of Star Wars, Ysanne included who held the title of Director years before Krennic appeared, to the rules set down barely a few years ago doesn't seem right to me. StarWars is a massive, sprawling and expansive universe that has been contributed to by many creators over the decades. Stuff created way back when does not and should not be forced into the same rule structures necessarily as stuff created in the last couple of years.
If blue over red was a mistake, that happened once or maybe twice? Then yes that's an inaccuracy and there is nowhere near the same grounds for inclusion in a CRL under official capacity. The fact that blue over red appeared again, and again, not just in the official comics but in external licensed media such as figurines and card games, shows that whether any of us like it or not? It is an accepted rank bar designation. Any arguments featuring "but Director Krennic" can be shelved, it's  like deciding modern-day rank systems retroactively apply to everything in the past. When Ysanne existed, she existed in her own time with her own set of rules, and during that time, blue over red was an acceptable configuration.
    My two cents, anyway.

In my opinion, if we have clear and consistent references, the CRL should reflect this. The rank bar being flipped wasn't a one time, one issue thing, it appeared as blue over red across several issues and assorted licensed material.

For this reason, I highly doubt it was a coloring error.

Additionally, it harms literally no one to add a line allowing for members portraying Ysanne to wear their rank bar in either direction, as is shown in the comics.

But overall, by ignoring certain references, it just shows to outsiders that some references are more valid than others, and this is something I am not okay with.

The CRL team has been discussing it though, I can assure you guys of that. We've had to agree to disagree on a few points lol. I'm hoping we'll have an answer and the reasoning soon!!

If I may... I think a line with optional configuration is very good idea. We should consider that Isard is from EU and EU has different rights than new Canon (especially that Isard have different color of uniform than others officers). And we have a mess with ranks, so... Both options are good.
And maybe good idea is to check how Armand Isard wear his rankbar (he was also the Director) and compare them?

Gentlemen if I may as well put my thoughts into this, as a woman who wears this uniform and has seen both variations of the rank bar, allow the option. I understand that Krennic in all his caped diva glory is a film character and that scene setting is important I also remind you that Ysanne was the First. As she is now a legend she has the latitude that the other Director does not, she should have both as an allowable option. And really who is going to tell the Mistress of Lusankya no?

You can take them in yourself- just follow the existing curve, but take it in.  Sew on the new line with a heavy stitch to prevent fraying, and then cut off excess fabric.

To rein in the flares you re-do the seam to be smaller, because I don't think pulling in the thigh will do much good.  Unless they're just too lose in the thigh in which case you could also tighten the seam there, too.
