Hello troopers. ID-19812 from the NER in New Jersey. I have not been on here in awhile. I find that I use the forums quite a bit when building the costumes, but then real life and trooping happens, or you begin building a new costume and move onto that forum. I saw a post saying that in order to remain a member of a particular detachment, you need to also be somewhat active in the forums of that detachment as well. So I just wanted to come on here and say that I still have my Imperial Security Bureau Officer (non saga) costume and enjoy wearing it although it has been a while. The tunic is quite tight and even gaining about 5 pounds make it dangerous to popping open. But I will slim down and get it on again although i still find it weird not wearing a helmet. So yes alive and kicking and still a member of this community. Be well and keep trooping.

    Howdy folks!
This has been talked about for 6 or so years, but we are finally pulling the trigger.

We are going to no longer allow Cosplaysky for Level 3 approval levels of olive colored OT uniforms.
The big reason is the shade of "olive" is way wrong. We will still black and white tunics since those colors are good.
The full list of affected officers:
Admiral Daala Officer Grand Moff Tarkin High Moff Morlish Veed Imperial Military Officer Non Saga Mimban Officer LIne Officer
Again, this is just a L3 restriction. They are still good for basic approval. This lets us have high standards, but not make us gate keepers.

Like the FISD, we would put this in a Special Notes section at the top of the page and also mention it in the tunic/jodhpurs L3 sections of the CRLs.

something more abbreviated may be better and it is something that we can consider.  Also remember that we have some First order officer uniforms which is why we have Imperial in front of some and First order in front of others.  But this is something to be considered. the names are convoluted.  I would rather not use Line or Staff for new production costumes as they are fan created and have no basis in what we are looking at.  That doesn't mean we can't come up with something shorter and works better.

Wood painted black is... black.  There are other CRLs with similar wording, and I have not seen an issue with it, to date.

I'm not worried about it, but GMLs are always welcome to ask us for clarification, if they're confused.

That holster is simply a left hand version of the standard ANH-style MSP5 holster, but in black leather instead of brown.  It's unusual to have a true left hand version, though... I almost wonder if that shot was mirrored?  I'd have to look at the scene again.

Yup, my normal trooping MSP5 was based on a cheap plastic Mauser that cost me like $15 and is based on the 712 layout.  I recently converted it over from OG style to the new style... super easy, just silvered up the fins, swapped the cord, and painted the grips.

Good point on the base model requirements - we can't have airsoft base in Australia so that would make it impossible for us. Best we can hope for are replicas (such as denix) if we're going for realistic as possible, but far more likely our bases will be toy ones with 3D printed add ons, or an entirely 3D printed blaster.
I know the proposal wasn't making airsoft base model L3 mandatory, but for what it's worth it would be nice if as kman suggested the model was less specific in case of availability issues. With the base being a mauser of either model i imagine it would pass close to perfect once all the additional extras are on?

Either way, this marks a great addition to the CRL. Thanks to all the thorough input from everyone =)

Holster certainly looks like it's softer leather than ANH and strap different as well. Think I prefer the molded one but probably makes it easier to make.

Gorn is carrying an old school MSP5 with the coiled wire, and all black cooling fins.  He has his own, and did not pick up Petigar's blaster.  (His empty holster is visible in other shots from the scene with the second pic below, too, I just chose this one because it shows the blaster clearest)

Kinda makes sense, since he's been stuck on a backwater planet for so many years, while Meero and Petigar both hail from Coruscant, where presumably they would have access to the more current toys.

Interesting catch on the reddish greeblies on Gorn's blaster, but I do not see those colors carried over to Meero's, just some slightly lighter coloring with weathering.  I don't think we've ever specified the color of the greeblies, though.  If anything, could mention that "accurate greeblies are present on both sides."

Both Meero and Petigar carry the new (to us) model, with a straight wire across the top and cooling fins that have all silver metal edges.  (the interior of the fins remains black, so it's not "all silver", just the edges of the fins are bare silver metal)

All other details seem to be the same, between the two types.  Same top "scope" (mic jack), same tomtit antennas, etc.  (The OG MSP5 greeblies came from Reade Models tomtit model airplane parts, also used on Han Solo's DL44 in places)  My MSP5 has the original parts on the cooling fins, and the rest are 3D printed but modeled with the original parts in hand.  I suspect their are not the original parts, but 3D printed, which give thicker fins to show the silver better.

All three are carrying them in the new style holster, however, very different style from ANH. (the only other place we've seen the MSP5 in live action)  Gorn and Petigar wear them on the left, and Meero wore hers on the right.  (outside her trench coat)

Well since I have the Andor Tumbler, I decided to try my hand on finding bits for the ANH death star cup, managed to find the Tupperware Jellete bottoms easy enough on ebay, vendor just around the corner from me had 4 complete sets so saved on postage.

Top half will be a bit harder since no one on the RPF has found the original part used... might see about vintage aluminium cups or Thermos lids.

We updated the ANH Staff officer to further clarify the unique tunic and add graphics to help the GMLs differentiate that this is not just "the black version of the olive tunic"

    Added "special notes" section.
    Special Notes
This costume is very rare. This tunic was unique to ANH. It is NOT a black version of the standard olive tunic. The collar clips on the side of the neck instead of the center of the neck. The yoke closes up across the shoulder, instead of coming up to the shoulder seam. The tunic has top stitching in some areas, whereas other tunics have no top stitching. The rear sleeve seam opens at the cuffs, instead of having no opening. The rear of the tunic has double vents (one on each side), whereas other tunics have no vents present. Princess panels extend to the shoulder seam, whereas other tunics extend to the armhole.
If the tunic is a black version of the olive tunic, THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT CRL for it. The correct CRL is the Imperial Security Officer (Non Saga).

Updated the picture for the tunic to show what is correct, and what is incorrect.
Tunic, Black Fabric is a medium weight suiting material exactly matching the pants and hat. Gaberdine style weave is most accurate. Tunic is double-breasted with a left over right closure on at the right shoulder-seam. The back of the tunic replicates the look of the double breasted design of the front. Yoke closes up across the shoulder to the top shoulder seam. The standing collar has square corners and is approximately 1.25' to 2' tall and closes snugly. Collar edges close on the right side of the neck with two eye hooks. Collar closure edge aligns with the right shoulder seam. There are code cylinder pockets on both outside panels of the jacket from about half way between the top and bottom on the arm hole. Sleeves are long, and without decoration, containing 2 seams, one along the bottom and one along the back. The rear sleeve seam opens at the cuffs at a length of about 3" (75mm) Tunic has top-stitching in these specific areas: Approximately 1/4" (6mm) from the outer edges of the double breast/double back, Approximately 1" (25,4mm) from the outer edge of the double breast/double back Directly underneath the edge of the code cylinder-pockets Hook and eye fasteners on the uniform are not visible.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): There is a dart in the top centre of the tunic, this dart is between 2 inches (50.8mm) to the top of the code cylinder pocket in length. There is a seam running the entire circumference of the tunic, dividing it along a line hidden by the uniform belt.
OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Tunic to be secured on the right side by snaps or buttons, not Velcro. There is no topstitching visible anywhere but at the noted points. A cream lining is to be sewn in.

If it's an outdoor event a white uniform can be a life saver. As we know bright colors don't attract very much heat if any at all compared to dark colors. My first troop included some outside pictures and I'm so glad I was in a Grand Admiral uniform. It gets hot as ever here in Texas. Especially in June when my first troop was.

Good evening everyone! I have a question about the CRL for these two costumes regarding the tunic specifically. I'm not sure if this was changed recently but I'm almost 100% sure that the CRL used to state that there would be two princess seams and no middle seam. From what I can tell the no middle seam requirement has been removed and the princess seams have been moved to level 2. Would this mean that the center seam (as seen in the rebels version of the military officer) is now allowed WITH the two princess seams? I also have photos to back up that the two princess seams and a center seam appear on the same uniform so I can add those here as well once I figure out imgur. TIA
