TK1571 reacted to Zealot23 in First Troop Incoming, Boot Wearing Inquiry
I have maybe worn them for a grand total of two to three days, and I was planning on wearing several layers of socks. And you said to tape my feet? What kind of tape exactly should I use?
Regardless of the boot problem, I am still both extremely nervous, and stoked for my first troop

TK1571 reacted to Fox in Made a SW themed parody video
Besides Star Wars my other hobbies include photography. This year I decided to combine the two. Giving me an accuse to take costumes out of storage and share some observations in character. All from a satirical pro-Imperial point of view. I was planning on sharing the first video later this year but felt with it being May the 4th I should release it today.
Give it watch if you can.

TK1571 reacted to ShadowStriker in Rank bar Question.
Does anyone know of a good source for making Officer Rank badges. I don't want to 3d print one. I work in a machine shop and have all the tools I need. I'd love to start making one. Specifically Admiral Pietts and Admiral Mottis. Thanks

There's a thread on the RPF about it. The black bottom portion is a Tupperware "Jel-ette" mold, while the silver top is still an unknown.

Now that we have cups, we need to advocate for canon sunglasses. Maybe we can get some space aviators or something.

I ended up using some tinsnips as material is pretty soft.

TK1571 reacted to kman in Proposing updating incorrect "hobnail" term in CRL description of Imperial Bridge Crew boots.
Normally I agree, we try to stay away from getting too into the bottom of the soles for that very reason. The hobnail bit got added after people got tired of answering the question "are boots with hobnails ok?", I believe, and they just added a line to make it clear they're not a problem, if present.
Personally, I'd love to specify soles without visible tread (at least for higher level approvals), because it bugs me when I see modern shoe tread (for the ones where it's really very visible from the sides), but we leave well enough alone in the name of inclusion, and try not to let the nit-picky tendencies get the better of us LOL

For those of us without a Chopper like Josh's, I suspect a simple box knife and good straight edge will do the trick nicely. (along with a fair amount of pressure)

Finally got my roll, what's the easiest way to cut it without damaging it, tin snips?

I get what you’re saying, Detaleader.
Short of that, I’m merely proposing the change to the words used in the CRLs for the boot toe plate. (Dream big, but maybe start with the achievable!)

TK1571 reacted to kman in Caf Tumbler (Non Saga)
I love it... but I'll admit I'm not entirely convinced it belongs in the CRL, though. It's more a general prop than something specific to an Officer's uniform. (Not saying I'm deadset against it, just that I'm not yet convinced)
If only they had cupholders on their belts, this would be a different story LOL
It does bring up an interesting idea of a CRL dedicated to onscreen props that are specifically allowed to be used on troops. (Just because I know some garrisons are extremely particular about disallowing anything not in the CRL)

For excessive precision:
A strip with the appearance of silver metal is centered inside one of the recessed areas (but not both) and covers any etched markings on the mug. -

Yes, this is real.
We go nuts on details for blasters and other accessories, so why not give the true hero of the empire (caf) it's time in the sun.
I combed through other CRLs and there is precedent!
Boushh has a wookie chain and collar, Jawas have droid callers, AND THE OFFICERS HAVE THEIR CAF TUMBLERS.
Putting this in the CRL will passively broadcast this for years to come. The parts are easy to source on Amazon.
I think there were two different size cups. This wording gives us flexibility to allow both.
Petigar's cup looks smaller than Beehaz's.
Pics here:

Black in color with a stainless steel ring around the top. The outside walls have two recessed areas. Cup is no taller than 6.5 inches, and no wider at the base then 2.6 inches. A strip with the appearance of silver metal is centered inside one of the recessed areas (but not both) and covers any etched markings on the mug. The strip is .5 inches wide, with a maximum height of 4 inches.
L2
The metal strip is three dimensional automotive trim (or similar) and not tape. -
TK1571 reacted to buckrogersbarker in Fictional Space Bad Guys, Not Real World Bad Guys
Some things should go without saying, but we live in an age where we do have to say things. I will cross post this in the Officer's Mess too.
At no times will this detachment be a home or accepting to people that are friendly to or espouse the ideas behind fascism, Nazism or any totalitarian ideology. We dress up as fictional space bad guys. Conflating any of the above with doing that is not only morally wrong, it puts at risk what we do here in this detachment and the legion as a whole. We will not allow such a risk.
I have spoken to members who have belonged to reenacting groups that have had those ideologies come into them. That will not be permitted here, not under this administration. And if that day ever comes that it would be allowed, I would hope you would join me in finding another hobby.
There will be no litmus tests for members. If you are a reenactor, I hope you enjoy doing it and I hope you keep the ideology out of it. There is no conversation over re-enacting that you cannot take private. And if you are an open adopter of the ideologies listed above, no one wants to hear it...ever. If you see something in violation of this, please contact the staff and we will deal with it promptly.

TK1571 reacted to Alay in Belt Boxes for Andor Series (Dedra, ISB Non-Saga, etc)
I noticed in our CRLs for Non-Saga we're using sizing that is too large.
I did some image sleuthing to compare the Rogue One style boxes against these, using photoshop to count pixels and get an approximation.
Using this image, and the two officer boxes shown
The belt leather has a known width of 2 inches.
That measurement gives us a pixel count of 53px.
Dividing that number by 2, we get a ratio of 26.5px/in.
Going against this wider part of the box from this angle, we get a size of 70px. When applied to the ratio of 26.5, we get an approximate height of 2.64"
Repeating the process on the other officer for the width
Belt height: 44px (22.25px/in)
Box width: 40px
Approximately 1.8" in Width
To prove out that these are bigger, I repeated the same process against some Rogue One boxes:
Belt: 29px
Ratio: 14.5px/in
Box Height: 39px
Box Width: 27px
Box Inches: Approx 2.7" x 1.86"
Belt: 23px
11.5px/in
Box Height: 35px
Width: 24px
Box In Inches: Apprx 3.04" x 2.08"
One more screen cap
Same process gives me
Belt: 46px
23px/in
Box Height: 67px
Box Height in Inches: ~2.91"
This is consistent with the current CRL of 2"x3" for non-saga in Rogue One and Solo.
Ergo, the Andor boxes are approximately 75-85% of the size
Additionally an image on the SpecOps forum shows a pill box detail on the Aldhanni trooper versions made of resin: https://forum.specops501st.com/topic/8719-imperial-army-trooper-andor-crl-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=106817
"The cut corner" mentioned in the CRL is likely due to the metal bending angles when they casted them in resin for the "stunt" versions. This wording should likely be on both.
I propose this new wording:
Belt boxes (Andor style)
Dimensions are approximately 1.75 inches (44.5 mm) wide, 2.5 inches (63.5 mm) tall and 1 inch (25.4 mm) thick. Two boxes to be worn vertically, one each on either side of the belt buckle.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
Belt boxes are made of metal or cast resin. If resin, they should be painted a gunmetal gray color. Corners have a “stepped 90-degree cutout” in the shape of a square on all four corners of the face of the box. Boxes should have a pill shaped detail in the top and bottom.
Some images based off the measurements I calculated above: https://imgur.com/a/u0RSdBI

TK1571 reacted to wolfietk in Updating the length of the dart on the ISB Attendant (should be 2-3 inches)
Hello-
Adding in a new update for after elections.
Francesco, from MazCave, pointed out the dart on the attendant is not correct. The CRL should match the Dedra CRL. The dart seem should be 2-3 inches.
As per our conversation with @chicken45 (and his conversation with Katrina), the CRL could be reworded so the dart line ends where the code cylinder pockets begin.
