Interesting everyone comparing the Empire to the Third Reich when it’s really closer in structure and attitude to the British Colonial Empire of the early 20th century.

I’m mostly looking at this from a Canon only perspective.

The core (home islands) was wealthy and generally peaceful and prosperous under Imperil rule. There was some civil strife and horrid working conditions for the lowest classes (just like industrial Britain).

The emperor was largely a “hands off” ruler at times, allowing his regional governments to rule the empire and promoting a culture of cronyism, much like the British Monarchy at the turn of the century.

If you look at the worlds outside the galactic core they are all left mostly under semi autonomous control of regional moffs and governors, some prosper and are very pro Empire (Canada, Australia, New Zealand), others suffer under oppression (India, Africa), while even others are stripped bare of resources and exploited (again Africa, the Caribbean , the Far East).

Revolts and rebellions were handles roughly, and at times with very questionable methods both by the Empire and Imperial Britain.

Even the imperial uniforms have more in common with First World War British Officer uniforms than anything Third Reich.

A similar comparison could be made between the Empire and Imperial Germany, but to me it’s more akin to the British Empire at its height.

So really the Empire is neither good nor evil, both can be true from “A certain point of view” - Ben Kenobi.

Now the Third Reich comparison can easily be played at the First Order, which is far less subtle in its approach and is vocally genocidal and fanatical.

Not trying to sound to much like that TV show detective Colombo. I always had one question that bothered me. Commander Praji as far as I could remember was never shown on screen with a weapon. The figure they made of him if I'm not mistaken comes with a merr sonn and a e-11 blaster. My question is since he was on a star destroyer wouldn't he be carrying a Dh-17 to protect from hull breaches? That's just my opinion let me know if I'm wrong. 

If you are talking about the sideshow figure then a lot of that is wrong the tunic for example is not the 451 style, (Hopefully Hot Toys will hear my thoughts)  for us the DH-17 is included with the ANH CRL so we are covered there

Some of the best advice I was ever given for costuming overly serious/slightly intimidating characters.
"Head up, shoulders back, walk like you've just been sent to kill Captain America."

It worked very well for Kylo, but I found it carried over pretty nicely for officers as well (if not better. Apparently I have a somewhat intense face if I make an attempt)

The other piece of advice I can give is develop your officer's character! If you know who they are, what their likes and dislikes are, and how they behave, you'll have a way easier time and people get really into it. My First Order officer is really freaked out by Kylo. I've had small children try to fight him for me. It's adorable and they love it.
