Theblueguy808 reacted to Detaleader in Star Wars Squadrons: Imperial Navy Crewman
So the other day I was playing Star Wars Squadrons, and I noticed these fellas in the hangar:

And that got me wondering. Are they the same as the ones seen in the films? What's different? And right away I noticed the ESB style headsets.

Now, seeing some folks run around in the background of a hangar could make it difficult to get sufficient reference material going, if this was a film. Luckily, this is not a film and we have modding tools that can help us to look at the files for these guys directly!

The in-game files denote this character as "NavyCrewman". Over the next coming days I hope to deep dive into the details on this costume, and write a text draft for what a CRL could look like. Sadly, I currently don't have the financial means to realize this as a physical costume, so the text guide might just help somebody who stumbles over this really obscure costume in the future.

Hello advisor, I’ve made the decision to try and get a cosplay going for my first 501st submission and decided on the imperial bridge crew. I found the linked jumpsuit on Etsy since I have no sewing skills and just wanted to get everyone’s opinion or comments if they think it would work. Looking at it and the crl I think it will but just want to be sure. any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

I think making the trouser leg thing a L3 thing is the way to go with this.

Just received word from the LMO office that we are cleared to proceed.  Someone make the costume and present us with photos and we will assist in the creation of the CRL text.

That's what I did the past two weeks, as we can only see the handle in "Ahsoka".

Personally until the blaster is known I would just list the blaster parts that we do know as part of the holster.

Be advised the Hot Toys is a prototype and they have changed figure weapons in the past for production. Death Watch is a good example.

We've never governed the height of code cylinders in a CRL.  No need to start now.

So here we go on the tunic(I've highlighted in red for some Thrawn specific items):

Tunic is constructed of a medium to heavy white twill weave fabric. Wool or wool-like twill weave is preferred. Double-breasted with a left over right closure on the tapered yoke. Yoke wraps across the shoulder to the top shoulder seam. The standing collar has square corners and is between 1.25 inches (31.8 mm) to 2 inches (50.8 mm) tall dependent on wearer’s neck size. Collar closes snug. Modesty panel is OPTIONAL. Collar edges are closed with two (2) eye hooks. There are severe wears on the collar's edge. Two code cylinder pockets on both outside panels of the jacket located half way between the top and bottom on the arm hole. Sleeves are long, and without decoration, cuffs, or buttons. Sleeves contain 2 seams; one along the bottom and one along the back. At the bicep there are two seams running parallels to each other on both sides, with 5~7cm apart. The seams form a sharp bowl shape.  Tunic is constructed with no top-stitching (stitches visible on the exterior surface of fabric), except for the few spots where the yoke close with the right sides of the clothes. Hook and eye fasteners on the uniform should not be visible. There are mess stitching  Optional: Up to six (6) hooks may be added through the sides of the tunic to hold belt in place. Hooks must be black.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): There is a dart present on the top center of the yoke. The dart may vary in size due to the size of the wearer's individual tunic and how it fits, but should be between 2 to 4 inches (50.5mm to 101mm) in length. Typically, but not always, the dart ends at or below the top of the code cylinder pocket. There is a seam running the entire circumference of the tunic, dividing it along a line hidden by the uniform belt. The back of the tunic has princess seams that run vertically and turn outward to intersect the arm-hole seam at the vertical center. The bicep seams are constructed with no top-stitching (stitches visible on the exterior surface of fabric) The bicep lower seam ends exactly where the code cylinder pocket opening begins. The whole tunic is slightly worn. The mess stitching and worn spots align with the prop.

I think if they are added to the CRL they should be optional, the Tarkin CRL doesn't have them either and I think he had them in Ep. IV.

Very good question indeed, as we can only see the handle maybe just refer to that and the Healthways Plainsman design. Maybe we get some bts footage or additional material to work with or to update the CRL later.

I don't think we'll see what the pistol blaster looks like until season 2. All we know for now is that the handle part is from Healthways Plainsman. Should we keep the pistol part blank? Or skip it?
Or should we wait for Season 2 then release the CRL?

Perhaps add it to the Belt Section, like "Belt is secured with 6 belt hooks" or so just my 2 cents
Making it a basic requirement or L1 requirement could be discussed.

Waxed cotton is waterproof. I have several coats, hats, and bicycle bags made from waxed cotton and canvas.

I'll try not to be too distracting, so I'll be brief. I don't think Deedra Meero is the main villain. I'd say it's an opinion. Syril Karn is more the main antagonist than Meero. He's in opposition specifically to the "Hero" Cassian than any of the others. Deedra is more the main antagonist to Luthen than Cassian for most of the series. If that makes sense, then any of the other ISB supervisors should get a CRL of their own or even Syril himself with his custom piping and tailoring. I personally like the way the Non-saga CRLs are written as they give members the freedom to do pretty much any imperial officer character.

That's my last word on it here.
Let's discuss what are the merits of a new CRL creation elsewhere. What are the qualifications and what disqualifies a new CRL?

Sorry, Tom, but saying any named officer needs a CRL then saying not every named officer needs a CRL in the same post sounds too much like a double standard. That doesn't sit right with me. What is unique about the costume to warrant a separate CRL? Truly unique. There isn't much in my eyes. To do a named character has always been to base the Executor and Imperator certification on the character. every CRL in the legion has something unique about them. Something that sets them apart from others. Unfortunately, there isn't anything unique about most officer costumes. That isn't the fault of the IOC. That is by design of the costume department of the production.

After reading the progress on this multiple times and maybe this should be an extended conversation elsewhere, but from what I'm reading it's seeming more and more that this conversation is less and less about the actual costume and more about the fact that the character is female. Which bothers me. When did we start including gender into the creation of a new CRL?

Maybe it's because I'm a male but I have never seen any backlash over female CRL's. The principle that has been for IOC CRL creations has always been based on unique details in a character's costume. Director Isard for example. A very unique costume due to the red tunic and trousers. Then there's Thrawn and the Rebel's Thrawn compared to other GAs. Again, unique compared to others. Dedra Meero getting her own CRL just because she's female is sexist.

The 501st as a whole should not start the precedent of judging the person's appearance or gender. Only the costume and how it fits on the body. That is all and how it always should be. That's why we have a female as the CRL for the Rebels Era Thrawn right? Gender equality should always be present, but we shouldn't arbitrarily favor one over the other. If there truly is something unique in the costume by all means please find it, hunt it down, bring it to light and write the CRL and I'll rejoice as hard as anyone because I love to see new CRLs completed and hard work rewarded. But let's do it right first.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong or if I misunderstand something... and please don't misunderstand my opposition for discrimination. Sexual discrimination disturbs me greatly.
