This was at a Solo movie troop in Cinepolis Deerfield where the skies were cloudy and it had been raining. ID-62488 found the perfect weather to sport his poncho

Like BJ here in Florida, we have troops virtually every weekend. The weather, however, leaves much to be desired lol. Despite that, it is never too hot to sport an officer!

We just had Supercon here and it was so much fun. Also Spencer Wilding (Vader from R1) made an appearance that some of our own were able to attend. Its been great!

KaiserNash reacted to captsafe66 in My thoughts on Solo, A Star Wars Story.
    Greetings IOC,

As many of you probably did, I spent my weekend trooping at a local Theater for the opening of Solo, A Star Wars Story.  Personally, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the movie was.  I enjoyed it all 3 times that I viewed it.

For whatever reason, the box office didn't explode for it and the haters that suggested a boycott have declared a victory.  It saddens me that any fan of the Star Wars universe would take pleasure in the possible failure of any Star Wars film.

I've been a fan since I saw the first movie in the theater in 1977.  At that time, we didn't have the instant response of the internet or more specifically, social media.  We we're all starving for anything Star Wars and felt lucky to see our favorite Star Wars Characters in any way.  Donnie and Marie, The Muppet Show and The Holiday Special are what we got and we were appreciative.

To see fans that call themselves "True fans", reveling in the low numbers at the box office is just baffling to me.  Who knows what the exact factors of the low numbers may be?  Who cares?  It is still the top of the box office this week, it's still a great movie, it was entertaining and interesting.   What do they want?  The end of Star Wars again?  I was excited when the Thrawn Trilogy breathed life back into my favorite universe, I don't want that universe to go dark again.

I must say, the 501st family seems to be of the same mind on this subject.  Most of the comments from them are mostly positive.  But some of the rabid Star Wars fan groups are just beating it to death, in fact, I had to leave one of my favorites due to the negative comments.  They can't possibly think that the removal of Kathleen Kennedy will transform the movies back to their personal vision of what they want the movies to be...these are the same fanboys that came down on George Lucas and the Prequels.

I have enjoyed anything that has extended the story of the Star Wars Universe and I take it at face value, a great fantasy and interesting entertainment.  Any chance to keep the dream alive is great with me.

    Thanks for reading my rant,
    Enjoy life...enjoy Star Wars!!!

First time in at least 20 years that I bought a Lego set for myself.
Got it on Star Wars day.
    It's the official ME mini-fig!!!

Mini-fig me's hair is a little lighter than mine, but I'll chalk that up to the miniaturization process.
It just so happened that I was making a Rogue One/Solo style Navy Captain rank bar for a friend.  Now I think I have to make one for myself...

The kit also came with 2 Range Troopers (meh) and what looks like an Imperial Ground Crew lady wearing a Navy Trooper helmet.
I wonder if that combination is going to show up in Solo?

KaiserNash reacted to buckrogersbarker in Honorary Membership
Something I think we should do is induct into the legion as honorary members the costume designers who made the costumes and the actors who portrayed the different officers in the star wars movies.

We need to spearhead this here because we are the Imperial Officer Corp, but also because time is running out on many of the potential inductees.  Many of the actors that were in the original trilogy are of advanced age and may not long be with us.  We already missed our opportunity with John Mollo who designed many of the costumes we wear.

Glyn Dillion is a must, but so is David Crossman, his co-designer who came up with the single bar rank system for Rogue One and Solo.

We need to generate a list of those who are and those who are not currently honorary members.  Then as we learn where they will be guests we will set the wheels in motion to getting them what they need to be inducted.

I am personally willing to pay for the first three inductees fees to get them the plaque and badge.  I do this knowing that it is very likely I will not be able to attend the induction myself.  But I think it is necessary for us to thank the people who inspired us to wear these costumes.  I would also like to draw tighter the ties between us and creators of the new films.  We live in an age where we no longer have to guess what these costumes look like or how they are made.

I propose a list that looks like this:

    Name – Position – Movies – Member –

Glyn Dillion – Costume Designer – TFA, RO, TLJ, SASM – No membership
Domhnall Gleeson – General Hux – TFA, TLJ – No membership
Julian Glover – General Veers – ESB – Honorary Member
Richard LeParmentier – Admiral Motti – ANH – Honorary Member

What we would do is simply work the list.  As members learn of different actors going to cons we will see if we have enough time to get something together and make a presentation.  Historically we have never needed the approval of the local garrison, though they should be notified as a courtesy.  I have inducted members just by myself and friends and that precedent still stands.  Some of the people that will make it to the list will never attend a convention, Michael Kaplan, the costume designer for The Force Awakens is one.  In those cases we can we can contact their agent or the studios to make the presentation.  Not every induction should include publicity.  We should respect the wishes of the inductee and size it based on what is able to be done and what they are comfortable.

I would like to hit up at least 3 before the end of the year, potentially more if it can be done.
