I've looked and really can't find any evidence of the three lines being on IC gloves.  The closest we get to the three lines is in ROTJ when Moff Jerjerrod greets the Emperor with his crewman *cough* sorry TIE Reserves on the parade.  Here you can clearly see the TIE Pilot/X-Wing Pilot three line version of the gauntlet.

The remaining reference for IC is either with no gloves, or the shot is not good enough to see whether lines were there or not.

It would make sense to allow the three lines pilot version, but we can't really make changes without some form of evidence.

Aha OK! SO until there is any evidence for these specific lines (as present in Tie Reserve etc.), we must only have gloves that have no decorative stitching at all... Thank you for the clarification.

  2. Hi All,

Just following up on this topic since the BRIDGE CREW CRL has not been changed yet...

Was it decided that the three lines are acceptable on the gauntlet?

    vs https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TI_TIE_Pilot_ANH

Can the CRL be updated as per the previous comment? Or is there a reason it has not been updated?

    Black Gauntlet Gloves (Bridge Crew)
    For 501st approval:
    • Black, leather or leather-like, enclosed fingered, non-textured, fitted gauntlet style.
    • No buckles, straps, or decorative stitching are permitted.
    • Three straight lines, on the back of the hand, are optional.
For level two certification (if applicable):
    • Gloves are made of leather.
    • ROTJ bridge crew shall wear gauntlet style gloves.
    • ANH and ESB bridge crew shall not wear gloves.
  3. And I will be having my cape made to this new spec, especially given that it is quite clear that this matches these scenes in the movie more accurately.

If anyone has any evidence showing that other scenes have the line placed further forward as per the original cape diagram, PLEASE post them here!!

If there is evidence of both stitching arrangements, then both cape diagrams should be approve-able!!

  4. Hi All,

The person making my cape missed the top tuck in the yoke section around the shoulders (they were using an older pattern), and when finding this out - I noticed that the shots from the movie don't quite match the CRL cape diagram! On the cape diagram found on the CRL - the line between section 4 and 7, and between 11 and 7 - I believe is shown in the INCORRECT position!

First attached photo is the current cape schematic, showing the separation line in the same line as the FIRST line from the front of the cape (the one from 9/10 & 2/3).

Second and third images shows the movie, where this line is ACTUALLY inline with the SECOND line from the front of the cape (the one from 10/12 & 3/5).

Fourth attached image is a quick amended diagram I put together to show where I believe the actual separation line (4/7 & 11/7) should sit.

I know in the CRL it only specifies that there needs to be 3 panels (and location isn't specific, other than following the diagram), but for accuracy I believe it should be moved further back than what is shown in the current cape diagram!

Please let me know thoughts if I have mistaken anything, or am seeing something wrong!

Also, if I am correct - how does this get changed on the CRL?
