I found some plugs with a Death Star design, sadly they are made for a considerably thicker lobe than my ears possess.

When I was in the Navy (and certainly in the ‘70s) E4 and above were allowed to have beards. That ended in ‘84.
Different militaries have different rules, so too different galaxies. -

Looking at the OT Pilot: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TI_TIE_Pilot_ANH
And the Reserve Pilot: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TI_reserve_pilot
Those two both use the same compad.
I like WampaWear for a lot of things, but their compad is not good. And they were warned that it would not pass the JRS CRL updates before they launched the product line. I suspect they had already ordered a bunch and decided to sell them on their site anyway without mentioning the change, which is not a good move on their part, but we have no control.
All that said, this far into things, I agree we need to move forward and see if we can get that compad language updated to match, sooner than later. Or at least allow the TIE version to pass, at a minimum. (Again, though, only the ROTJ bridge crew variant needs the compad, else it's optional and you don't need one.). I was more thinking of the minor button changes, not remembering the button colors had changed so much.
You're correct, my mistake. I forgot I wasn't going with an OT TIE anymore, but continuing with my 181st, which uses the older style. Ignore the newbie. -facepalm-
I updated my post to alleviate further confusion.

Newbie $0.02; the Reserve comm pad is different enough from the OT Pilot one that I got a kick-back and had to purchase a new one. The ANH/ESB Bridge Crew one is the same (in the CRL) as the OT TIE Pilot, but not the Reserve Pilot.
Edit the second: On the left is the original style (still used for 181st and other non-pilot costumes, on the right is the new OT Pilot comm pad...

“Operations” in the real military (not to be confused with “operators”, who are Special Forces personnel) can mean Pilots, squadron commanders, gunners, random air-crew positions, and their various support personnel, so take the operations title with a grain of salt.
In the Navy the Ops Officer is a very specific title (there is an Operations Department) and fairly high up the food chain. They run the actual “operations” of ships movement, communications, information, navigation. Pilots, gunners, etc. are completely different animals. Ops owns the bridge unless the skipper is there. -
I did a lot of “make the Empire proud” fist and stern face at work... seemed to work on the minions.

So, the local garrison requires an action pose in the photo submission... anyone have that rate screengrab for a IC-BC to mimic?

My confusion was the term "crew," which is everyone on a ship
After nearly a decade in the Navy I can assure you that officers do not consider themselves to be "crew." (Said in a snooty, look-down-your-nose voice... with a hint of sarcasm.)

I'm curious about how rank works with generic bridge crew. Are they basically "enlisted" or are they officers? I can't find details. I suspect I'll just be calling everyone Sir or Maa'm...
Consider them "enlisted." You'll note that the CRLs list "Officers' and "Crew." Just like on a ship you will have officers barking orders and the crew following them.

This would be cool, especially for crossover parts (like compads).
