Does anyone know of a good source  for making Officer Rank badges. I don't want to 3d print one. I work in a machine shop and have all the tools I need. I'd love to start making one. Specifically Admiral Pietts and Admiral Mottis. Thanks

I figure the rank should match the relative age of the member. A young member in their early 20s would more likely be of a lower rank (IE, cadet or Lieutenant) while members of a certain age (ice age, like me) would probably hold a senior rank like Colonel or General. I think it would be rather odd to find a 20 year old Admiral in the ranks, but there's no real reason that you can't.

    Hi Eduardo!

For L1 approval, you should check in with your GML. They are the ones that will give the go/no go on these boots.

Having zippers are fine for the Transport Security Officer - like you pointed out, it's present even in the level 2 requirement

For these pair of boots ... the zippers are really obvious. If it's all she can find, you should see if your GML has issues with them.

Good luck - keep us posted on your conversation!

because of the zipper? I don't know, but in theory, for the basic level it is admitted while it is on the inside, and for this uniform, (transportation security officer) although it would not be to reach it, in L2 the boots must have zippers

Hello, this is a question for my wife. She wants to make herself a Transport Security Officer uniform. She has a fairly wide leg (and calf) and she found these boots that would work for her, but before buying them she wanted to if they would work for her, at least for an L1.
    Thank you

1" aluminum stock, 1/8" thickness is what I use for all of mine.  You can buy push buttons from Newark or Mouser (EAO 01-901 series) or other electronic vendors.  I sell buttons directly too PM me if you want a few.

Cut off the tabs on the inserts, then epoxy putty them on, or add E6000 or 5 minute epoxy.  Polish the metal beforehand with high grit sandpaper or a Dremel.

I use a chop saw / miter saw to cut my bars, but a band saw works too.

ShadowStriker reacted to kman in Which online stores or people are approved?
To the contrary, there are no guaranteed approved vendors.  The 501st doesn't guarantee approval from any specific vendor.

Any costume is judged individually, and part of that is how it fits the individual, no matter how well it was made.  And even excellent vendors can make mistakes that can affect approval.

All that said, obviously not all vendors are created equally, and some are more likely than others to produce the desired outcome.

Budget and time are big factors that play into decisions, as well.  There are certainly inexpensive vendors out there who have shipped costumes that have been approved to the highest levels (although rarely without some degree of modification after receipt).  And some vendors take longer than others to deliver... will you fit off the rack sizes well enough to be approved, or is your body shape such that you're likely to need a custom tailored costume to look good?  Obviously the off the rack sizes are more likely to deliver quickly than something that is hand tailored by a popular vendor with a waiting list.

And finally, there are very few one stop shops... most vendors will supply one or two components (tunic, pants, and perhaps hat, lets say), and the rest will need to be collected from other sources. (such as boots, belts, rank bars, code cylinders, etc.)  And some vendors may make passable parts in one area, and parts that will NOT pass in other areas, so I definitely recommend using vetted sources.  Some of the vendors mentioned in the post above certainly sell costumes (and some costume parts) that many approved officers are wearing, BUT none of them are one stop shops.

If you can give us some idea of your budget, we can probably make some recommendations for you.   (off the rack vs custom sizes needed will make a difference, too)

As it relates to imperial officers, who is approved either a website or person by the 501st so I can get a suit ready?

Hi guys, I'm Federica, ID13516 from Italica Garrison (Alpi Squad).
I just finished to print my Merr Sonn Power 5 blaster for my ANH Staff Officer.  All 3d print parts.  ("plastic cable" excluded),  I think I will use a landline phone cable for this and I still have to fill all spaces.

I look forward to hear what you think of it.  It may  be approved?
Also do you know where I can found a very good holster for my blaster?
    Thank you so much!

Size might vary slightly to match specific compad. On the left bicep, below the cog emblem, there is a code cylinder pocket with no flap, and vertical stitching dividing it into pen sleeves. A piece of 1" nylon strapping is sewn below the pen sleeve openings and is the same length as the top of the pocket. A piece of 1.5” nylon webbing is used to cover the front zipper The bottom front corner of the pocket is cut off at a bevel on the side pointing in view direction, with the broader upside forming the border of the pen sleeves. The right sleeve has a cargo pocket on the bicep below the cog emblem. The pocket has a small chevron flap. Two (2) large chest pockets and (2) large front pockets below the belt, without any zipper or flaps. Both top chest pockets and below the belt pockets touch the edge of the belt area Two (2) leg pockets with chevron flaps, similar in proportion as the right arm sleeve pocket. Size may vary - (Typically the width of the front pockets equals the width of the leg pockets).
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Shoulders are slightly padded. The front zipper Velcro closure is left over right. There are no loops on the belt. A single large snap or rivet is visible approximately 1 inch (25.4 mm) from the buckle. The belt may be worn with the snap to the right or left of the wearer. It is preferred to wear the snap to the left of the wearer, unless emulating a specific licensed character. The buckle is constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material. The buckle size is approximately 2 5⁄8 inches (66.7 mm) high and 4 ⅛ inches (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners. Buckle is adorned with an un-notched Imperial Code Disk at the center. Please refer to the Imperial Buckle reference page for information on accurate and inaccurate style buckles.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Belt is made of leather. Belt has a groove at the top and bottom edge along the length of the belt. Buckle has a slight horizontal curve.

Boots Calf high black leather or leather like material. Free of laces, decorative stitching, buckles on the instep or any other embellishments. If seams are present on the shaft they are at the rear only. Boots may have a single adjustment strap at the top outside of the boot, with the buckle no wider than 1". This need not be functional. Jackboot buckles should not be shiny/can be painted dingy grey or gun-metal color. Hobnails may be present on the front of the jackboots. Zippers on the inside of the boot are acceptable, so long as they are concealed. If the zipper is not covered by vinyl/ leather, it is painted black. German "jack boot" style boots are most canon.

Hello there my fellow officers! ;-P

I am starting this topic as since I have seen quite a few topics about the aforementioned accessory for our Imperial personnel.
Unfortunately most of them are years upon years old and long closed or at the very least seem to be "dead".

Now I would like this topic to be a place at which anyone who will be making such accessories in the future can share their idea (mayby even some drawings or photos) on how could such "Imperial Swagger stick" look like and also to link-up merch topics for those who would like to make a run of such accessories of their own making so that they are easier too find/sort through later on. It would also allow for interest check for such imperial canes in the future without the necessity of making interest topics every time. But that's just my reasoning so feel free to do as you will of course.

Anyways to start the conversation going - what do you guys think about the "Imperial Swagger Sticks" in general - I for example - simply love them. Been using a riding stick for a while a couple of years back and quite frankly I would like an upgrade

Just for kind of "reference" here are some pics of swagger sticks that have been offered by IOC members before and which pics are still available:

I received my boots from crowprops and they are awesome!  I tried them on this evening and they seemed a little tight.  Officers, is this normal for a pair of new leather boots and will they stretch out just a bit and conform to my foot or should I have them sent back and made just a hair or two bigger, I feel a centimeter or two would make a huge difference.

Should I just wear them around the house and break them in to see how they fit?  TIA for advice and information.

    Long live the empire!
