Atnevon got a reaction from BruceWright in Hessen Antique "Dress" vs "Hobnail" Jack Boots?
The hobnail look like they're meant for outdoor dirt, mud, snow; something needing traction. The sole construction looks to be more towards a durable-traction versus more standard comfort.

The standard sole is what you'll want for walking on standard surfaces, indoor settings, ect. If it rains you can always slap a pair of overshoes like these if you happen to hit some wet rain, puddles, wet grass, snow, ect...and them remove them when inside or on dry areas.

I can't speak for CRL approvals and such; but I'd be raising an eyebrow at those hobnails. I'm pretty sure I've never seen them on screen.

Having been a classic-shoe lover for many years I can tell you that as an owner of the dress boots for my officer uniform — the sound a leather sole have is more classic, and dare I say — authoritative. Rubber soles tend to sound clunky on some surfaces to me. They have a nice sound and ring if you do a snap-to-attention motion and have a slight-click to them.

While they may be semi-softer and more universal to surfaces the overshoes in a pinch.

Make sure once you pass the break-in period — look for a pair of some Superfeet or your choice of insoles. Your feet, back, and health will thank you. And remember — if its between you and the ground, NEVER cheap out.

    Just my 2¢

Just found this post in the forums; and thought to reach out.

I have a WIP Darth Maul; but looking to start easier and start and really dip my toes in with an Imperial Line Officer in the Olive Uniform.

I'm in San Francisco and have made contact with the local Golden Gate Garrison semi-recently; but its been a hot minute since my Darth Mail progress slowed.
