Well I picked up a copy of the Star Wars Imperial Handbook a while back and was reading through it to learn a bit more about the Imperial Army, which is under represented in the movies. Page 64 of the handbook briefly discusses the 4 basic variations of the Army uniform and unfortunately (for me, at least) only show illustrations of the 2 Vehicle command Crewers (AT-AT and AT-ST). Page forward to page 86 which depicts an Imperial Garrison and it appears to show a large group of troopers with helmets and armor carrying blasters.

I really like the concept of an Imperial Infantry Trooper, the lowest, most basic member of the Military. My question is; are there any other examples of Imperial Army Troopers in the wide world of the Star Wars universe other than what I've found in the handbook? And if so, how many examples would be needed to be considered for the possibility of approval by the 501st?

You wouldn't see "blinking compads" if the lights are off.  These look like pretty normal compads to me.  And yet, they CAN light up.

"Electronically lit" can be read in more than one way: Actually lit (turned on, emitting light), or "not capable of being lit" (presumably due to the entire absence of lighting, concealed or not).

The lights are pretty invisible when they're off, at least in those where a good job was done (i.e., TargWorx, pictured above)

As I said in my previous post, Targ, the former leader of JRS, clearly believes in the first interpretation: As long as they're off, they're not "lit" and thus good to go.

FISD and MEPD have a similar stance with regarding to electronics in the backpack: You can have electronics, and light your pack up like a Christmas tree, but it has to be well concealed so it's not obviously different from a vanilla pack.  As long as that's the case, there's nothing stopping you from level 3 with any other detachment.

I don't believe I've seen any firm determinations in writing as to the stance of the IOC leadership on this issue, but if they're different from the others in this way, on this one small thing, that would be... disappointing.

Further discussion should probably be taken to a separate thread, so we're not monopolizing Robert's WIP thread.

It's a good idea to take your time, ask questions, and shop around. Look on Ebay for German Knobelbecher boots, they show up there quite often. Just make sure to double check the boot size conversions from German/NATO/EU to U.S. sizes, it can be a tad confusing. Wampa Wear, known for their flightsuits, also sells gloves, belts/buckles, and now hats. You can find the comlink from Vendors on the Forum, just try to avoid the ones with LED lights built in. They may look cool, but they're not level 3 approvable. There are Vendors here that also offer these items and they have good reputations. Good luck with your build!

Upon inspection it does seem to be an acknowledgement as opposed to a salute in ANH.

You can get approval by doing an ISB uniform with straight trousers and low cut Chelsea shoes.

As far as the Ground Crewman CRL is going, the IGC is working hard to get it done, although the helmet seems to be the hardest item to get good, clear photos of to be able to replicate. When it's finally worked out, I'll probably build one.

The ISB uniform isn't encountered too often and would stand out from the crowd at an event. I'm even kicking around the idea of starting one.

It would be easier to go straight trousers and Chelsea type shoes, plus it's under-represented at events.

Those are almost exactly what I used to get approved, after removing the ankle strap and painting the top buckle black.

I don't think the powers that be will be changing the CRL anytime soon when it comes to zippers on boots.

"If zippers are present, they are hidden on the inner part of the boot shaft. Not visible from the front, side or back."

Well, they'd be cheaper than re-buying a 300$ pair of boots, but not by much. For the effort one might as well sell the boots and re-buy them for a little more, so that you at least have accurate zipper-less boots, like I was saying I'd do.

Jared did mention that his belt wasn't approvable in his post, he just bought it to wear at a Rogue One event. Had to get one in a hurry.

If folks want to try and find examples of Officers wearing boots with zippers on them in order to try and change the current CRL, I say go for it and good luck. I for one am old school when it comes to boots, never had a pair with zippers.

I figure as long as you try to maintain a "command presence", you should be good to go. Stand upright, don't slouch, stay focused, and speak clearly with confidence and authority. I haven't been to an event yet where an Officer has to give orders, but then again I've only been a member for 9 months.

So now that Rogue One is out, are there plans on including some of the new rank bars that appeared in the film?

"Parade Rest" and "At Ease" are two different positions. Not interchangeable.
