vonmoen got a reaction from Mython in So you wanna be on Facebook? How about Twitter?
OK Officers and Crew, we're looking for awesome, quality photos of IOC members in action at events to post on our Facebook page, so if you have one that you'd like to share, post it here. If possible, avoid posting photos with the general public in the background. You can have a bit of fun posting humorous photos, but keep it in good taste. Photos will be picked at random and posted on Facebook, and we'll try to pick photos that reflect the spirit of the Officer Corps. Please include a brief description of the event, TKIDs of the members, and Garrison info.
*** UPDATE***
We now have a Twitter account, so your photos can now be posted there as well!

Lots of members have trooped in other parts of the world, all it takes is contacting a Garrison where you'd like to attend a troop and see what events they have planned in the future. Sign up on their Forums, and see if they'd accept an out of area 501st member to troop with them. Most if not all Garrisons are glad to play host to other Garrison members.

vonmoen reacted to LordMalexit in ID 90886, new LMO assigned to the IOC
Good day to all!
I am Liam Agujari ID 90886 from Italica Garrison and for this year I will be the LMO of the team assigned to the IOC along with Nathan, I'll leave you with a short presentation hoping to work with you for the best!
Name: Liam Agujari
TXID: ID-90886
Garrison: Italica Garrison
Position: Legion Membership Officer
501st Legion Member since April 2014 with a Black Staff Officer costume but I immediately fell in love with other Imperial Officer costumes such as Line Officer which is the one I troop the most with, First Order Colonel loving the colour, but then took flight with my ANH TIE Fighter Pilot and last but not least my recently completed Snowtrooper Commander (which reminds me of my years in service in the Italian Mountain Troops). I am the leader of the Italian IOC Command Division (151st "Death Star" Battalion) which helps everyone who wants to build an Imperial Officer costume and make it the most accurate as possible. I have always helped as best as I could the Italian Wing to build their TIE Fighter Pilots, doing personal researches, building my own hard parts and helping new recruits. Being new to the Blizzard Force I am always searching for the best resources for the Snowtroopers.
I have been SL of SubZeroSquad in 2016 and for the past two years. I have also been GXO in 2017 and GEC for the past two years. In 2018 I have been a LCOG. Now I serves as SL and thanks to my SXO, I have plenty of time to dedicate to the Legion Membership Office.
In my day to day life, I am an Aircraft Technician specialised in helicopters for the Italian Army, I am serving under the arms from 2011 and before entering the Aviation industry I was part of the Italian Mountain Troops. I love my job and luckily this gives me plenty of time for hobbies: the Legion, Warhammer, travels and most importantly the love of my life, whom I met thanks to the 501st and she supports me in all endeavours!

vonmoen got a reaction from lantern2745 in Flight suit leg straps?
Instead of sewing on stirrups, I use military boot blousers, they're inexpensive, easy to put on, and easy to replace when they finally wear out. No sewing needed.

Welcome to the IOC, Frank. The black flight suit is the base for 5 different Legion costumes (Bridge Crew, Tie Pilot, Tie Reserve, Navy Trooper, and Imperial Gunner). As far as boots go, the ones used in the films were West German "Knobelbecher" jack boots. You can find them on Ebay and they turn up at online surplus stores. Some members have used engineer type boots as well as some motorcycle boots (which may require removing extra straps and buckles).

Can't tell from the photos of the jumpsuit, but the hat is a no-go. If someone was approved with one their local GML needs a talking to. I always recommend Wampa Wear for the jumpsuit, belt/buckle, and gloves. Their hat isn't bad, either.

Getting a personal trading card approved with the 501st or IOC logo would have to go through Legion Merch Officers. You could always skip the hassle and order IOC Detachment trading cards

vonmoen reacted to kman in Imperial officer boots
Your GML is wrong and should be corrected. The Ovation Derby boots are a VERY popular beginner boot for officers. The Amazon description refers to them as "rubber" which is not really correct, and may be why your GML thinks they are wrong. They're PVC "rubber", a soft PVC, which is different from the actual rubber boots that the CRL was originally written to avoid. (people were trying to get approved with tall rubber muck boots for a while)
I'd guess there are easily 100+ approved members who wear those boots, and that's a considerably conservative estimate... it could easily be 5 times that many.
Note: They're not very comfortable. They're designed for horsreback riding, where comfort standing around or marching is not really an issue. And they don't breathe at all so your legs will be a sweaty mess every time you wear them for more than 5 minutes. Many people start off with them and grin and bear it while they save up for something better, if they will be trooping as an officer much. They also are fairly narrow, so they won't fit people who have larger legs, and of course they can't be altered or stretched like a leather boot could.
