Yes, unfortunately, without any proof of what the male version looks like, we can't just approve a male version based on an assumption of what we think the costume was probably based on.
 
If you're determined, however, there are zero problems with you being approved wearing the regular female costume, as the 501st does not discriminate on the basis of sex.
 
If that's not your cup of tea, however, I'd consider something else.  There are plenty of male and female versions of regular officers, of course, and if you want specific matchy-matchy, there are the Isards:

I did try gray color on the early stage. It did not work out as what the design was when I was watching the movie again.

The question on how I wear the top part, I did a collar on kind so I can fit inside. In the early stage, I did try to sew all up in one go, but my head just can not fit inside the collar . so I did like this.

I meet a guy who was dressing up as Boba Fett in a small event on FX/props for movies may be 2007? As I am a big fan of Boba Fett. At that time it was group was fun by 2 to 3 guys. It took sometime for me to join because I was still a student. I join in 2009 with the 501st. But I left just after a few months later because I end up got upset on the way how the people were in the group and one of the main's wife a bully I feel at that point (as I was trooping for an event. So many things bomb at my face seeing the "Real" group way. So I can't agree on joining a group if I were to face that each time I go for an event and the way how it is run.

So I left.

But only 7 years later, in 2016, I came back again because of people that I meet at UK SWC and I feel that the group did change for the better. And I hope it stays the same. And I do want if I can promo about crafting costume and how to do being together as a group. 

Rony Bridges who played the Admiral in The Force awakens has sadly passed away, Rony was a good friend to me and the 501st, smooth sailing Admiral.
 

Here are some of the pattern (will try to add more soon) and picture of the build for Line/Staff/Krennic Poncho

Take note that

1) Krennic's Cape is much longer then the Line/Staff officer's cape

2) Krennic front have a pocket. But the Line/Staff officer do not have.

The patterning is pretty easy it is just the sewing the detail of the line can be hard. So do change the needle on the sew machine if you are planing to do it yourself. Using the normal needle can sometime cost the sting to jump a few sticting. Do be careful when sewing waterproof fabric as once you poke a hole, the hole stays.

The cape is more of a rectangle shape. So cut two of this. And if you have a mannequin, it will be better. so you can pin the cape to the top part nicely.

It will be better to pin and see where you want the below part to be.

ok. You can see the different in the cape length of it.








If you really want to be more waterproof (not for heavy rain), you can try to spray waterproof spray onto the costume (or for your daily wear too!). But every how and then you have to spray it. Because the waterproof spray do not stay onto the outfit very long. It is really usefull for hats! I did use some of the waterproof spray when I go oversea on my hat or my jacket when there is light rain like England.....

It looks something like this. 

1# The back have Top-stitched that part which is you are pointing . Like the krennic's picture below



2# The split starts around the butt level.  For the front and back of that end part here are the photos.



The back part along the sides of the cape I add around 2inc of it to cover up the serged edges as if you see on Krennic's cape on his picture you can see it for the front and back. Just for the front part of the cape (here the arm come out from), I put about 1.5inc for the back.
