  1. Randy is actually Ray. His hair is actually a little darker in that photo, it's a little lighter in RL, but at the end of the day the kids call him Kallus.  Does he have perfect voluminous Kallus hair.  No.  I've been to several troops with Ray as Kallus and the public recognizes him.  He goes into great detail getting his hair slicked back and making sure his chops have the points before every troop.

  2. Good ole fashion wearing them around is the best way to stretch the ankle.  Like one of my equestrian friends put it, "If you're not willing to die, pick another sport."  Mind you she was joking about horse riding.  But yeah ankles does need to break in, once they do they should be fine.  Because you guys aren't gonna ride in these, I suggest walking up and down stairs and flexing the ankles a lot to help them break in.

  3. If your calves aren't crazy you can probably fit into a pair of Decent riding boots from Hispar.  Several folks in our Garrison have them.  I own and ride in them and they are still looking great after 2yrs.  They show a zipper in the picture, but this listing is for the one without a zipper.  Not sure how much shipping would be to AUS.  http://www.ridersmall.com/main/boots/Tall/men/Decent_Men_Dressage_boots_wobz.html

  4. I think the problem is that ridersmall.com didn't take a pic of the pull on version. Just copied and pasted the zippered version.

A lot of pull on boots will have a gusset standard. All my tall boots had a gusset. Zippered boots usually don't have one because the zipper gives a little stretch in the boot.

3 of our members have these boots. I can take a pic later when it isn't 530 am and my con mates aren't sleeping. :)

  5. They actually sound perfect. As long as your leg isn't pulsing from the boots being too small and not getting circulation they should be finr. Leather needs to be broken in. Once the leather breaks in at the ankle they will drop. When I get a new pair of boots I always dread the break in process. Depending on the leather it can take a short time or longer. So just put them on and wear them around the house.

Also this is a little exercise I teach my students who first learn to ride but go to a stair and on the balls of your feet drop your heel. It's to help people learn to drop their heel in the saddle but it can also help break the leather in at the ankle.

After the ankle breaks in then see how tall they are. If they are still too tall then I'd get them cut my a cobbler.
