  1. Maybe the gap could be even a little shorter, the rank bar starts about an inch off the centre and just overlaps the panel seem. You also have to take into account your chest size may differ to the actors - so even if you do get the measurements spot on - it may not look right.

Good luck though, despite me sounding a 'little' harsh (I am grumpy) I like the fact you're questioning things. Keep at it ;)

  2. The 501st rank bar measurements are the general measurements for your RotJ and smaller rank bars. My guess is it would be too awkward, and confusing, to list all of the sizes in the CRL, especially when people fail to match the exact push button used in the films.

I believe we are now victims of our success, when the CRL's started they were vague, now we've tightened them up everyone expects them to be perfect and taken verbatim. I would take the measurements as a guideline, then use your judgement when trying to replicate a specific rank. Go with what you see in the film, and have reference to justify your decision to the GML / IOC DO.

  3. Previously we have been lenient (right or wrong) with the top stitching, due to the fact the majority suppliers now offer a uniform without top stitching we are now strictly impose the CRL requirement:

There is no topstitching visible anywhere

On a personal basis I would also prefer Imperator level ANH Staff Officers to have the 'Fahrenheit 451' style jacket, at the moment this is a request and not a requirement.

Unfortunately, I will have to reject this request, apologies,

    Phil

  4. Wholesale that price is silly, but I doubt you'd be to do it cheaper yourself. It's not an off the shelf colour, the English uniform supplier has to custom dye their uniforms and spent a long time getting the colour right.

I've been working on getting an accurate ejection harness for my XWing pilot and have probably spent the best part of £200 in various types of webbing, and dyes.

  5. I've bought 3 of Steve's limited edition prints (cruise the galaxy, alderaan by moonlight and a real world poster - Catalina island). I love the simplicity and timeless quality to his work. He also did the cover for a recent Star Wars Propoganda poster book. So yep I've ordered two of these books :)

  6. Simon,

Thanks for your submission. Whilst I was unavailable, I requested BJ offer his advice on the helmet as he can make comments from a more experienced stand point, as he owns one and I don't. As he has pointed out the skirt of the helmet isn't sitting quite right. Hopefully you can find a simple resolution to the problem.

I assume you've going for the ESB uniform configuration, all of the accessories appear to be up to standard.

Your belt needs a little attention. Normally I would say it needs to be over the belly button, but this doesn't appear to be true for this uniform, so that's fine. I would tighten the belt a little, to support the weight of the blaster without drooping down. I think the popper is a little too far from the buckle. Can you please confirm the distance from the center of the popper to the edge of the buckle. Also the popper should be on your left.

Your collar could do with pressing a little too, as it appears a little saggy.

All in all a good submission, if you can remedy the problem with the helmet and tweak the belt, you should be good to go.

  7. Michael,

Yes as part of my research for my Executor submission, I worked with Pete Billups who'd discovered a behind the scenes picture of Captain Khurgee with the green gloves. We then studied the film and found the evidence of them, and spoke to Chris Muncke who confirmed it ('cotton parade gloves, dyed to match the colour of the uniform'). At that time it wasn't part of the CRL, so we got it added :)

It's all about moving forward and attention to detail :)

    Phil

  8. For an off the peg uniform it's nice, if you're an off the shelf kind on build. There are a couple of niggles, I wouldn't say they'd prevent clearance but considering they have access to the original uniforms, the price and wait I would have expected more:

The stitching on the peak of the cap is a little far apart

The shape of the princess seems on the back of the jacket should be a little more bowed, and subtle
The popper on the belt is a little too far from the buckle

Saying that it looks better quality than MuR, the previous off the peg supplier.
