fil5117 got a reaction from Thubin in Payed for Greeblie, no response
I have him as a friend on Facebook, I believe he's on holiday at the moment. A break in this hobby how dare he? Remember most of the props vendors are doing this in the spare time, patience.

fil5117 got a reaction from Christina in Empire's End Posters
I've bought 3 of Steve's limited edition prints (cruise the galaxy, alderaan by moonlight and a real world poster - Catalina island). I love the simplicity and timeless quality to his work. He also did the cover for a recent Star Wars Propoganda poster book. So yep I've ordered two of these books

Simon, just a quick recommendation on the helmet.
Try moving it a bit higher/forward on your head so the swoop is at more of a natural slant.
It should ideally sit more like this at a profile glance.

fil5117 got a reaction from skelitor120 in AFK?
Just as a heads up. I've been a little busy last week in real life. I've also had duties increased at a Garrison level. I'll need a couple of days to get to grips with those, after which I'll get back and answer my PMs / Executor requests.
Thanks,
Phil

Michael,
San Jose! I love San Jose My godfather used to live there - I visited a couple of times in late 70s early 80s. He's now moved to Morgan Hill
Sorry for the derail, so many great memories

Michael,
Yes as part of my research for my Executor submission, I worked with Pete Billups who'd discovered a behind the scenes picture of Captain Khurgee with the green gloves. We then studied the film and found the evidence of them, and spoke to Chris Muncke who confirmed it ('cotton parade gloves, dyed to match the colour of the uniform'). At that time it wasn't part of the CRL, so we got it added
It's all about moving forward and attention to detail

Your're such a tease Phil...
You even got matching gloves made!

Doesn't explain the distance between the stitching either

Not about construction, just cosmetic. The Museum Replicas caps have the edging, you maybe able to pick up one cheap on eBay, if you're not worried about sizing, and deconstruct it. Personally I don't rhink they're as accurate as could be, by current standards - but they have the piping.

fil5117 got a reaction from Steven in ANH 2nd Lt. Staff Officer Code Cylinders?
Generally in the forum we don't discuss specific characters, we deal with the costumes as a whole. Researching specific characters is more of a personal project. In my role as a Garrison costume mentor I sat down a watched the film on freeze frame a number of times and constructed a list breaking down the uniform configuration for ANH, and posted it here. I'm close to finishing the list for ESB, but there's less variance and my other duties have severely hampered this. I originally thought Malcolm Weaver had 3 red buttons, but after reading some continuity notes taken from the film I believe it's 2. Due to the fact it's so hard to tell, we accept 2 or 3.

The piping on the second cap is accurate, and desired. Unfortunately this is quite difficult and time consuming, so a number of the suppliers opt for the first method. It may also be true that the piping was a recent discovery with bluray and costumes based on caps from the archives.

fil5117 reacted to kman in Power 5 Holster Pattern
I believe the "corner" below the barrel tip should be rounded off, based on what I've seen. Do you have a source that shows a hard corner like that?
One thing I can definitely say is the belt loops should be MUCH shorter. The top of the holster should snug right up against the belt, according to feedback I got in preparation for my level 3 application. To my eye, they should be slightly more narrow, as well.
Otherwise, it's a good start, and looks like nice work!

fil5117 got a reaction from lantern2745 in Grooved and non grooved belts
Whilst studying the uniforms I looked into this. From my research, specifically officers, I found ANH officers had belts with scuffed / undyed edges to their belts, no grooves. ESB officers had plain belts with black edges. It was only RotJ officers which had belts with grooves.

Well, and now Rogue One has grooved belts - so apparently they all went to wardrobe after the plans were transmitted to Tantive IV

fil5117 reacted to bjsavage7 in About the AT-AT Commander...
In my opinion, ACD have been fine stewards of the costume. I'm happy to say since I've been here, we've never had a need to squabble about what detachment it belongs in. IOC is still happy to assist with the regular officer parts of the costume. It's not the only costume that shares parts/pieces with costumes in other detachments. Dat CRL model tho....

fil5117 got a reaction from Toran in About the AT-AT Commander...
Regardless of which detachment the AT-AT Commander uniform should be in, that decision has already been made, and there was a lot of back and forth. As John says the most important is that it's a 501st recognised costume, and has a CRL ... with a very fetching model

fil5117 got a reaction from Vanedor in Is it accurate /required?
I'll check my jackets and reference this weekend. I can't remember if jacket has, my gut feel is they have and they will be acceptable as they will help pinch the jacket in around the waist, and without them you wouldn't get as good a fit.
