I thought it was a different cape too initially, I think it has the trim its just coiled back and not draping the same as its always behind him.

I think it does have the trim, but the lighting is SO DARK.

Though if it is a new cape,  hopefully the simplified out that hex trim. Def black cape, with red lining.

Hope we get better images next week.

Also, does any other costume in any other detachment have undersuits with leather ribbing?

These are the ones I can think of at the top of my head at the moment that has the ribbing/quilting under suit.

Yeah, I also think a vader suit would work well for this

Though for best accuracy, i think the arms and legs need to be vertically ribbed as opposed to quilted like vader

That might be one of those level one vs level two/three things.

mark that off easy things.I guess we'll see how the armor shakes out once we get more detail next week and the 3d modelers get to town.

Om most curious about the cape. Is it the same as season 1 and 2,  or it different and just in bad lighting?

I've been starting at it for I don't know, hours?

I think it's the same cape, but moutned differently, without the support that they used in s1 and 2.

Which personally makes me happy as I don't ever, ever want to make another version of that cape haha

I believe the cape is new but more simpler.  It doesn't have the trim detail on the outside edge.  It is is the same pattern as the original but it appears to be a black panel with a deep dark red as the lining.

For my own curiosity, what's going on with the horns on the helmet?

At first I thought that they were the same as Mauls Deathwatch soldiers, but looking at these pictures again and looking at a picture of deathwatch I'm having a hard time telling. They seem less pointy. I'm sure that the creators of the helmet took inspiration off it though.

Are there 3 horns? (1 in the front, 2 in the back) or is it 4? (2 in the front, 2 in the back)

I see them more as a crown on Gideons helmet.

  4. @whitmers Chamanleon_fx over on Instagram has started 3d modeling the armor and helmet for printing!

The image I mentioned where the biceps deform like rubber.

Also I think a Vader style jump suit would be appropriate though I don't think it's leather but a tight weave with pleats/vertical quilts based on how the elbows move and the fabric pulls. Very possible it's a fake leather/ vegan leather.

  5. Update:

I made the 3d print files for the back pack:

    Version 2:

I'm looking at picking version 1 for the CRL and will be 3d printing it soon.

Ordering a new pair of boots tomorrow to go with my wampa wear uniform.  I've also decided to not do a silicone mask and just shave the sides of my head.  Still working on the respirator and eyes, I'm going to being using spirit gum or pros aide to keep them affixed to my face.

  6. Hi everyone,  I was curious how strict hair in some cases would be for specific CRL's?  I ask because I really want to create the CRL for this officer

Though the completely shaved sides is something I can't actually do due to real life stuff.  Would it be allowed to not have the completely shaved sides?  Or some kind of substitute?  I've tried looking at bald caps but the actual hair part on the bald cap has been stumping me, and a silicone mask seems to not be feasible.  I've been trying to figure this out for the last couple of years and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Edit:  I ask also partly due to the morlish veed CRL.  Veed has a similar haircut to the character above (Trachta) but the CRL has a close but not complete haircut.

  7. These looks very suspicious, primarily because the photos they are using are stolen from ANOVOS

on the prime jackets photo, the mannequin and pants looks like they are photo shopped out.

it's the same with the black uniform

I did the same!  Castle is my backup if I don't get into the Marriott/Hilton, Marriott preferred.  Convenience, proximity, ease of changing costumes, taking breaks, stumbling back to the room at 4 am after all the after parties, safety, etc.

The only thing I will say about hotels and LA area- check the map for Walking Distance- not just miles away, because often they might very well be .5 miles away, but can you walk directly or semi-directly is always the question.  (You can from Castle, I checked before I booked), but LA is weird and it might put a freeway you can't cross as  pedestrian or even as a car, so you'll have to take a round about way, adding more time and more mileage.  So just pay attention if you don't plan to do the two main attached hotels.  A normal block isn't the same length as city block which isn't the same as an LA block which isn't anywhere near a Vegas block.

Bookit.com will let you book a few hotels on those dates now, if anyone wants backups or just isn't going for the Marriott/Hilton period.  Good cancellation policy and option to pay at the hotel at the time, not up front.  In quick searches Marriott and Hilton won't even let you look at dates that far out, likely because they will be part of that official block opening Friday.  I would assume after Friday they'd allow it, but maybe not, who knows.  I do know they will only get more expensive the closer it gets, and being where they are, and the star level of them, they won't be cheap period.  (*Crosses fingers and hopes they aren't $900/night*)

Most major chains only do a year or less in advance, Hilton and Marriot only allowed 350 days in advance.

You also see the pockets when Cassian Andor takes off the tunic in the data archives at Scarif. The pics must be somewhere around the forum.

I found this behind the scenes photo of Cassian in an alternate scene wearing the jodhpurs, is this the picture you were talking about?

  10. I'm not sure what the info is on pockets or if anyone noticed this but I think I found something that probably wasn't noticed before.  While watching clips of a new hope, I noticed Admiral Motti has his hand in a pocket in his pants!  So it's probably confirmed the officer pants have at least 1 pocket on the left side?  (It's a bit funny how everything is on the left, like the rank plaque, single code cylinders, and the metal button thing on the belt lol).  Not sure if this has any significance but I just found it to be a little interesting lol.

I made the photo on Sunday, but did the mixer end up happening? I don't visit the forums much, so I missed this thread. It would have been great to chat with everyone before the photo. I'm glad we did it when we did, so I could make it in.

The mixer was smallish, but it was nice.  We had the area closest to the concourse in the Arc Bar.  I was able to present Mark with a gorgeous plaque that Hawk had made.  And Mark passed Admiral Winston into my care.  He's on a shelf watching me now.

I was able to get some merch before the merch trade at the mixer!  @KamdenVox Also it happened just before the merch trade that was on the second floor ballroom.

We usually have a longer buffer than 1 year to plan things out... So it's def not too early to start planning! My biggest question is the time frame... Wondercon in Anaheim is also in April, so I would be curious to see how those two large events navigate each other.

The Marriott and Hilton on site will run on average $300-400 a night when the con is announced, I know this from staying there for Blizzcon/Wondercon/last Celebration.

When I checked on line, the price didn't seem nearly that high for the Marriott, also I found we can't make a reservation for it until at the earliest October because the max is 6 months in advance.

Yeah that schedule makes it tough on us Monday through Friday workforce members.  But I already told my boss just to block out April entirely until I know the dates.  He said maybe I'll join you at this one, haha.  I've been telling him that when he retires, he should join us.  He's always saying he'll need something to do after he retires.

    Recruit him into the IOC!

My guess is yes it'll be Thur-Mon again. They seem to be coping Dragon*Con in that area. I actually don't mind it, I always catch an evening flight out, and get the con basically to myself on Monday.

Ohh, I didn't realize Dragon Con was also 5 days?  I think I might arrive on that Monday or Tuesday, and leave late Tuesday so I can get some Disney time in as well lol.
