  1. This question is for Robert. You have stated: "I am not asking for the forum to be shut down and I am glad it suits your needs, but it doesn’t suit the needs of most imperial officers in the legion.  This lack of service has meant that they go their own way and consult only with their garrisons.  A closed facebook group would not supplant what you get here.  It would add access for people that would not normally go here and provide them with a connection to the detachment.  A worth cause rather than them wandering the wilderness."

Considering the forum has over 6,000 members, and at minimum 200 active posters, I find your generalizations about "most imperial officers in the legion" to be glib, and frankly untrue. In ten years as an officer, I believe you have missed opportunities to connect with active members all over the world by not participating here. There is a method in place here for hopeful recruits to introduce themselves, find a dearth of information, and get help from active officers in creating the best costumes they can.

My question is this: How can that be achieved from a closed facebook group? For those that are on social media, we have a very active open facebook page, would you continue to see that remains accessible or would you close the group? If you operated two facebook pages and a forum simultaneously, would that not confuse new people more?

  2. Hello officers, troopers, and crew! If you need an inexpensive Line or Staff officer and want semi-instant gratification, cosplaysky.com is having their Chinese New Year sale, with both uniforms 20 bucks off. Check the OT costumes for threads on Cosplaysky's quality and modifications to make, but if you're on the fence now would be the time to jump on this incredibly inexpensive, approve-able uniform. Remember, get your main line or staff officer suits there, go elsewhere for accessories such as hats and belts, theirs are not legit.

  3. I am both 181st and officer, so i've been thinking about doing a dress uniform myself. I believe the olive line officer uniform will serve your purpose; I hope you are good at hand sewing because I just finished adding blood stripes to the sleeves of a flight jacket and let me tell you, hand sewing inside sleeves is a bear. But it sure beats taking a garment apart just to use the machine now doesn't it?

Sometimes the clear plastic scope will come of easily and you can paint the orange ring inside some people put a small red detail in the scope a Wd40 straw works well

Mine was made by elves out of Mithril apparently :) I ignored it cause inside of my scope was dark blue. If you can get it off, wd40 straw or lego red lightsaber work great! I've seen other people not be able to get theirs off, so they painted the whole bubble silver, which I thought was a great way to solve the problem.

  5. Not true, in my opinion. Type B cylinders do not have the blue cap like the type A, at most you change the clip out with a silver type A clip, there's patterns out there. And 3 for 7 is cheaper than the last junky chalk holders i've seen, and these are real dosimeters. I think I could make them approvable for Chief Bast or Motti, not as sure about R1 officers.

Sweet! I think you just about nailed it, Ben. I'm planning on getting a black military type ALICE belt and putting an Imperial buckle on it. Is that an old M-14 canvas magazine pouch you are using?

Yup. For RL formal all the web pouches should be canvas Nam era. Plus I used to reenact Vietnam, so I had the stuff already. Really like how it blends the ERT with the AT-ST driver, sort of honoring the infantry of ROTJ!

  7. CONCEPTUAL PHASE, 'IMPERIAL ARMY TROOPER', BASIC INFANTRY KIT.

I have decided since I now have all the various parts I wanted for a basic infantry impression, I have thrown together a 'proof of concept' for you guys. This was based off of the West End Games pictures, the Imperial Handbook descriptions, and the discussion of ideas and concepts from contributing members of this thread. I would love to see this happen, so I present to you a basic idea that we can build from and modify. This is your thread, I just want to help make it reality, and couldn't wait to put one together based on the obvious interest.

I utilized a gray jumpsuit, jack boots, code cylinders, and headset from my ESB Scanner Crew, belt boxes, gauntlets, E-11 and holster from my Naval Trooper, AT-AT Commander breast and back plate, helmet, and goggles from my Veers. I constructed a small metal compad and taped it to my General Rank to make this an enlisted infantry armor set. Instead of a standard Imperial Officer belt, I substituted my ALICE web gear belt from my Endor Rebel Commando.

    IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE.

I would have liked to attached an Imperial buckle to the web belt somehow, probably with velcro. It would also look more 'ground pounder' if you lose the back plate and add a large OD ALICE pack, attaching the breastplate to the straps somehow. Another version of the back pack concept would be to get a full snowtrooper breastplate and back pack and paint THAT sucker Olive Drab! I also see the E-11 as a back up weapon, I wish I had a DLT-19 or a A-280 rifle to model. I like the OD web gear look, it is canon to ROTJ and looks good with the gray, I would add more ammo pouches and maybe thermal detonators in carriers and the like. A monocular on a strap like Sandtroopers, expect all in OD carry would also be a great addition.

    OFFICERS, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  8. Just got tipped off that these surplus 1940's Polish Dosimeters are for sale cheap at Sportsman's Guide. I think if you shorten the clip a little bit they'd be great for type B cylinders like Motti and Tagge carry, and may work for many Rogue One officers! I just bought 6 to check them out, with my membership I get free shipping so I got 6 for 14 bucks! You can't beat that price in this hobby, last surplus dosimeters i've seen were German 1960's ones and they were 30 credits. Check them out, what do you guys think?

  9. If you are planning to do a Staff Officer (black uniform), then you are permitted to carry a Power 5. For this to qualify, you'd have to remove the scope, make several mods, and add a phone cord to the top. There are easier and cheaper ways to do this however. This blaster may be used as is with a holster for unofficial events with a black jumpsuit as a crewman/reserve TI, or with any officer unofficially really. For the purposes of getting a costume approved, this item should not be used. I tell everyone boots and uniform first, then look into blasters as a fun accessory for cons.
