5 OF 5- MAY 4 CAMP RONALD MACDONALD FUNDRAISER AT TGI FRIDAYS CLOVIS - 5 OF 5
Here it is! I finally made it! Though I was a little tired for my second troop in a day, and my 5th troop in5 days, here I am! I am in my warrant officer here at TGI Fridays, and they had two raffles, a silent auction, and a photo both benefitting the cause, and 20% of all dinner checks at the restaurant went to Ronald MacDonald charities. It was a great way to cap off this journey, and thank you to everyone in Central California Garrison for supporting me!
I have noticed over the last five days that stormtroopers bring joy where ever they go!
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!!! TO THE IOC! FOR THE EMPIRE!!!!!

5 OF 5- MAY 4 MADERA CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL VISIT - 4 OF 5
This was set up by Izzy's wife, who is a nurse at Madera Children's Hospital, to have a May the Fourth visit to sick kids. We visited the playroom and then three or four different units to see kids in their beds with parents taking pictures. Because of risk of infection, no gloves were allowed; we had to gel in and out of each room with hand sanitizer. It was very rewarding to see the smiles on the kids faces and the excitement of the parents when we came into the rooms. An amazing start to my Star Wars day!

5 OF 5- MAY 3 VIGIL FOR FALLEN VETERAN JOHN SALLES- 3 OF 5
This was another troop very close to my heart. We were contacted by a former CCG member on May 2nd that her long time friend, veteran, and sci-fi fan John had passed away, succumbing to his injuries received 4 years prior when his black hawk helicopter was shot down in Iraq. Diane could not attend his service now that she lives in Tennessee, and was hoping a small contingent of troopers could come to his viewing on Tuesday. I decided to take the lead to honor this incredible man and called around for a last minute troop to stand vigil in uniform at his viewing. John had just received his Anovos TK kit and would work on it when he wasn't sick. He had been in and out of VA hospitals for four years, and decided for his last year to move in with his Mother, brave the pain, and travel the world in his remaining time. Being a huge history buff, he went to London and France, walking the sites of WWII battles and exploring the bunkers on Normandy's beaches. John was a police officer, war veteran, historical reenactor, and science fiction fan, who would be buried in his prop uniform worn by Leonard Nimoy in Wrath of Kahn, I had to honor this guy! My friend Rebecca was able to step up last minute and troop with me in her TK, which John would've loved. We stood silent vigil at the casket the last 2 hours of the viewing to see him out, and the family was so happy that they wanted our pictures and thanked us with hugs and hand shakes, it was an amazing experience, and one I will never forget.

5 OF 5- MAY 2 STEP UP! YOUTH CHALLENGE RED CARPET AWARDS SHOW- 2 OF 5
This is a cause I am most fervent about as an educator, to motivate youth leaders into becoming more. This is the same group of kids that were at the opening Step Up! troop in February, receiving their awards for their projects this year, doing stage acts, and having a party!

5 OF 5- APRIL 30, "MAY THE FOREST BE WITH YOU" SAC ZOO- 1 OF 5
This was an awesome kick off and where I got the idea. My commemoration tour started in the northernmost troop I could get to, Sacramento Zoo, for their Star Wars Day. "There are 43 troopers, mando, and rebels going! We must represent South Valley Squad!" so Izzy, Alptraum, and myself loaded up at 4:30 AM Saturday Morning, arriving at nine for the news crew and kids!
Thank you Sacramento Zoo, the Central California Garrison, Endor Base, and Terran Clan! We got this party started!

FIVE TROOPS IN FIVE DAYS
Hello Officers, Crew, and Troopers! My name is Biscuit, ID-39999, of the Central California Garrison and the IOC Morale Officer. I want to share a journey with you, to raise my spirits and hopefully show the power of what we do. Two weeks after retiring, my Mom, Dawn Salisbury, was informed that she had irreversible colon cancer. After a year of suffering, she died on May 1st, 2011, five years ago. We also recently lost a comrade, John Salles, a police officer, Iraq war veteran, and sci-fi fanatic. I decided that I would try to honor them both with 5 troops in 5 straight days, centered around the 5th anniversary of my Mom's passing and John's funeral. I am about to attend troop 4 this morning, so I will update this afternoon. As a thank you to you all, every single troop i'm in an Officer uniform of some type. Please save comment after i have posted troop 5 OF 5. Thank you for joining me, my sci-fi fantasy family!

Nooooo! I've talked to him on a couple of occasions, the last time at Anaheim. He will be missed.

I have one I found on Amazon, it should be here tomorrow or early next week, I'll be doing it much like you did but I'll use hammered silver under the flat black for a weathering look should the black get "battle damage"
That's awesome! I did the silver coat on my DH-17 and was very happy with the result. Take pictures!

So a couple of times i've been in my line officer and have had a kid salute me, i've returned it with a quick informal touch to the hat bill, kind of like a British Napoleonic era Naval salute. I don't see any problem with that, just definitely no open palm fascist style salutes please. Among our own, if Vader walks up to me, or a kid in a Vader costume, I customarily bow my head and say "My Lord" or something to that effect. Being from reenacting and Ren faire, I am used to adding more theatrical elements than some, just don't overdo it.

I think detachment staff has our hands full trying to work on TFA officer CRL's, which has a more urgent, widespread need. This is interesting though, and may be considered down the line. I say, for your own personal satisfaction, do one on your own for fun to wear at cons or non-official functions! I have always been a fan of the idea of Officers with added armor, which is why I built a Veers. I think non-stormie foot soldiers may be a hard sell for the legion, as they are non-film canon.

These do look better than many rubber boots i've seen. However, I find rubber to be not breathable, so on long troops they make for sweaty, chaffed feet. I would highly recommend real leather both for look and comfort.

I was also thinking of the airplane mechanic from Raiders lol! You need one of those giant Soviet tank wrenches to heft around menacingly!

I would steer clear from costume base. I had one of their jumpsuits before I joined 501st and I found it to be of low quality. It is no cheaper than some other sellers in China like Cosplaysky, and sellers like wampawear are much more accurate. That second belt has rivets in the wrong place and both those buckles are too rounded. Black cap and belt are more accurate with sellers doing ongoing runs in these forums, and as Ron said, the costume reference library has plenty of leads to get a better jumpsuit. Good luck!

Dan may be the way to go. If you haven't already, check in over at ACD forum, there will be more help there. The pieces you seek are also the same for Snowtrooper Commander, which you could paint the same green just as easily, so maybe check in with Blizzard Force as well. I would also suggest Walt's Trooper Factory on facebook. Good Hunting!

When doing junior officers, I like parade rest, with hands behind my back. Line officer definitely fist up, or, smug death stare.

I think I, too, like the taller crown on your other hat. You can always keep the MuR for non costume use, like the hat that you wear to go down splash mountain or go paintballing in lol.
