You always know how to have a good time Ben!

So I finally had a troop in my area, and did two days at Modesto Con, which is a new event starting out in Lucas' hometown that i've been supporting. It has been too dang hot to troop in the Fresno area, with an average of 106 degrees most days this month, so it was nice to get out of town for a troop! These are photos not necessarily in IOC costume, but I decided to share here. I started helping to promote this event back in March with the Cosies Awards, and marched with Central Valley Costumers for Modestocon in Modesto's Fourth of July Parade. For MST3K fans, that's my wife Samantha dressed as one of the Mads, Pearl Forrester, which I finished sewing her tunic Saturday night. Enjoy!

i just picked one up on ebay yesterday for 27.. now, that being said.. who knows what i'll actually GET in the mail  

This is the new E-11 Blaster toy for Sale at Disney Parks. They are available at gift shops in the Parks themselves, the main one in Downtown Disney, and are now starting to pop up on Ebay. Overall, the dimensions are much better than the Hasbro one, and feature good LED's and sounds. Before I take it apart and start to paint, I use a jeweler's saw to cut off the barrel endcap, sand it down, and sand off any logos.

 

 
The blaster is surprisingly easy to disassemble. This is necessary for painting because of the clear plastic guards where the light shows through. The main body is held together by 8 screws. Unlike the temperamental Nerf DH-17, there is no glue to contend with. The rear tube speaker end cap, scope, top rail, and rear sight are all just held in place. Did Disney know I wanted to repaint this thing?

 
Simply set trigger, easy to remove, simple wiring set up for your modders out there!

 
Here is the removable top rail and clear plastic light channel guard. All the fins are separate parts, a nice detail, but only the center seam one comes out easily. The LED's are held in place in the channel by a single screw.

www.cosplaysky.com folks. I got a halfway decent uniform in 8 days. 2 days to re-tailor myself. Probably a week or two if you send it to a tailor to fix. Less than 200 dollars, including making a better hat. I got friends in Trek NEVER got their monster maroons from anovos. MEDIOCRE!

After a great weekend in the german Legoland, I am reporting in again with some nice new Pictures.

For those of us in the United States, today we honor our fallen soldiers and remember their sacrifices. I was able to attend a couple of events this weekend, including Hanford Safety Awarness Day, where kids demonstrated martial arts for an anti-bullying campaign, and today a 10K run called Help Carry the Load, which benefited families of fallen soldiers. I also got quite humorous yesterday in my rebel scum Endor disguise. Happy Memorial Day!

I was able to attend a couple of events this weekend, including Hanford Safety Awarness Day, where kids demonstrated martial arts for an anti-bullying campaign, and today a 10K run called Help Carry the Load, which benefited families of fallen soldiers. Ok, TWO things.

I decided I was proud enough of this foolishness/accomplishment to post this here.
Inspired by biscuits 5 troops in 5 days, and fueled by the question 'can I survive this?'. I undertook to troop 3 troops in the space of 30 short hours.
Now normally this wouldn't really be a noteworthy/difficult task - but the middle troop was full participation in a 'Relay For Life' event (I was there for 16 of the 21 hours it ran)
Organisations supported:
1. The Starlight Foundation,
2. Cancer Council,
3. Bardon Community Kindergarten.
The line "that was fun, let's never do that again!" Never fit so well.
(I'd probably do it again )
Full(ish) report on my Hall of commemoration thread, my humble bragging only goes so far - I wont post a link, I have to draw the line somewhere

I don't have any hard details yet, but if any 501st-blocked hotels pop up, I will do my best to share any info if possible.
Yes, we'll definitely have a mixer, and photo-shoot.
I may not be DL next Celebration, but I'll be happy to help organize.

Hello Officers, Crew, and Troopers! My name is Biscuit, ID-39999, of the Central California Garrison and the IOC Morale Officer. I want to share a journey with you, to raise my spirits and hopefully show the power of what we do. Two weeks after retiring, my Mom, Dawn Salisbury, was informed that she had irreversible colon cancer. After a year of suffering, she died on May 1st, 2011, five years ago. We also recently lost a comrade, John Salles, a police officer, Iraq war veteran, and sci-fi fanatic. I decided that I would try to honor them both with 5 troops in 5 straight days, centered around the 5th anniversary of my Mom's passing and John's funeral. I am about to attend troop 4 this morning, so I will update this afternoon. As a thank you to you all, every single troop i'm in an Officer uniform of some type.
