I had the honor and pleasure to represent the IOC at last Saturday's red carpet event at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood! We found out last week those in the California and guest garrisons that would be going to the Premiere, and learned late Friday that I would be allowed to wear my Warrant Officer throughout the program and after party as I had requested. I was stoked! Between 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, Mando Mercs, and Saber Guild, we had 120 uber fans, most in our patch jackets and swag, and about 14 of us in costume. The pre-Movie event was standing during the red carpet show, meeting stars and directors, and having an amazing time! I met Kevin Smith, watched Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion give an interview 2 feet away from me about the Star Wars universe, and got to see numerous stars from the film, like Donni Yen, who signed my pass!

At show time, we were led into the theater, which was beautiful, and up to the assigned seats we had on the Mezzanine. No spoilers, but the film is fantastic, and gives me a new perspective on the Disney/LFL team. It is THAT good. Officers, Naval Troopers, Gunners, and TIE Pilots are all featured heavily, and there's some new badges and officer configurations open to us! OBVIOUSLY, SEE IT.
After the film we were free to take pictures, walk the red carpet, look at the costumes and the MASSIVE XWING that was shipped from Pinewood Studios after being used in the film (and that will find it's home at a certain Disney Park.)!!!!

We then made are way to the after party in Avalon Ballroom, which was AMAZING! DJ was spinning 80's music and they were serving cocktails and champagne and lamb. There were photo booths to take poster pictures, and all the Legions were laughing at getting the night off and take pictures with Disney employees dressed as Shoretroopers and Death Troopers! This was fun for me especially since I was the only on still in uniform, so I got to take advantage of the props and sets! An hour until they were going to kick us out, I found the back tent where the 1:1 TIE FIGHTER BAR was located! I got to drink and talk with Gareth Edwards, and the editor Colin in depth about the film and they were interested in our impressions! Legion friends and stars mingled, and we were amazed at how polite, accepting, and humble the SW Film community was! This will be a hard event to get over! For the Love of the Empire, Biscuit

Unfortunately, I will be spending this holiday-- like I have the last 2 Christmases, New Years and Thanksgivings.. at work. Also unfortunately, I happen to be working in a retail store this year, so I get the added excitement of surviving the Black Friday hoardes. Nonetheless, well-wishes to everyone this Thanksgiving!

I thought I would share my first troop with you all.

First Troop. Stollery Children’s  Hospital, Edmonton Alberta, Canada.

I don’t even know where to begin... nausea, nerves, excitement, fear and and absolute joy. This is what I experienced at my first troop. I can truly say that this is one of the most memorable days of my life. The pure joy that we brought to those wonderful children going through what may be one of the worst time of their little lives was amazing. There wasn’t a single person in the room that didn't have a smile.

We had parents comment on how they could not  remember when their child last smiled so much or that it was the most they were able to do in days. One little girl was dancing up a storm, laughing and playing the entire time. Her mother told us that the day before she wasn’t even walking and had no energy...don’t you know that she was one of the last kids to stay and play with us. Amazing!!!
We did have the opportunity to walk through some wards, where they were too unwell to make it out to see us. I seriously could have stayed all night with those kids.

I had the honour (Canadian spelling) of seeing and meet some wonderful members of my Garrison who took me in as one of their own from the moment I said “Hi, I’m the new guy.” They showed me what it is to be a member of the 501st. My only regret is that I didn’t join sooner.

now... the bad. I lost one of my code cylinders... but I have a set coming from Philo soon anyways.

Mine's custom made, and had to be double interfaced for strength (because of my melon head).  Mine can never be washed - it would be like machine washing a business suit (and the dry cleaner won't touch it).
I give mine a damp cloth occasionally, to remove any marks, and a light febreezing every couple of troops for freshness.

I guess it all depends on what your hat is made of - I would expect a commercial product to have laundry care tag sewn in somewhere.  Otherwise check with the person who made it for you.

    Greetings IOC,

Don't forget to document your IOC troops in the Imperial Hall of Commemoration:  http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/forum/47-imperial-hall-of-commemoration/

Don't forget to number your entries on your first post as well.  It is extremely helpful if you keep a running total at the top of your first post.  If you would like and example, here's mine: http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1911-idicin-4584-mark-ryner-captsafe66-tour-of-duty/

It is completely acceptable to drop me a PM when you reach a milestone, many of you do that already and it helps us recognize your achievement in a timely manor.

    Troop on!

At first I just wore whatever SW T-shirt I'd worn to the troop, but since I got them back in February, I wear one of my IOC T-shirts from the run back in November 2015 exclusively.  Best shirt ever!

I had my suit modified slightly
Apart from adding elastic stirrups to the pants (which is incredibly efficient for keeping your pants from blousing). MammaSith pulled the collar in a little, put a bigger modesty panel with Velcro and replaced and reversed the hooks (waaaay easier to do up in mirror now), and replaced the dinky metal tooth inner zip with a heavier plastic toothed zip, (hopefully this one won't throw a tooth and pop open under the slider).
But those little plastic snaps still work their way loose eventually.
Mine gets its fully approved debut next Saturday at Supanova.

Definitely for carrying their smokes. You'll notice by the time the FO has risen to power, smoking has become a bit of a taboo..hence why those Officers don't wear boxes. They do however appear to be avid fans of Vaping!

I transport mine upside down filled with a plastic bag stuffed with more bags (to keep the shape) in a plastic carry box ('really useful box' brand) that fits in my roller kit bag quite well.

(I also throw a few silica gel packets in to absorb moisture)

    [/END OF MODERATOR NOTE]

This the official guide to illustrate all canon officer ranks recognized by the IOC. It is compiled with reference from the original movies, and official EU sources. It is created from a costuming point of view, and not meant to explain every rank's importance or how they differ from movie to movie (that's what fan fiction is for). It is just a simple chart that shows what rank officially goes on what costume. Code cylinders are intentionally excluded, and can be referenced in the CRLs.

Note Rogue one/Solo ranks are only compatible with Rogue one uniform style

COMMAND STAFF EDIT: There is a more current/comprehensive rank bar guide in this location:

As long as they fit you properly, those certainly seem to fit the description given in the CRL for level 3 boots.
