I can't speak to that, but if what you say is accurate, to me it is a "two wrongs don't make a right" situation. Pointing out other mistakes or errors in judgement should not be a platform to try to push through another one. That should be repaired rather than considered an acceptable precedent.

So you're of the opinion that unless LFL unlocks the vault and gives us a clear picture of the back (more than we got in the movie and that Stephanie put so much time into) that this should never become a CRL?

This isn't about two wrongs and a right, this is about consistency.  When we've had questions in the past we've extrapolated, and corrected the CRL when we got new info.  If what we think is a center seam turns out to be a center and two princess seams - on black fabric, even in a lined up group shot, are we going to be able to tell one from another?

  2. Certainly. The CRL team discussed allowing either configuration - blue up or red up.
    The discussion boils down to;
In favor was that it's seen both ways, even though one way has to be a coloring error.
Against is that since R1 came out, we have an official way to wear a Director's rank bar.
At this point, we're getting to an up or down vote between the CRL team and Staff members.
I expect to have either a "It stays as is" which will end the discussion, or a "the Team decided it can be changed". If the team decides it can be changed, I'll present that to the Detachment for a 5 day comment period.
I hope that is transparent, and that all parties will abide by the process.

What is “official” though? If the movies are official and overrule all other media, and we totally ignore all other media as “mistakes” when the don’t match the movies specifically, are we getting rid of the Hask CRL for example because the programmers admitted on Twitter that it was supposed to match the movies but they screwed up?

I don’t have a care which way a rank bar is, or if a CRL is retconned when we have new info - but if we want to quote consistency let’s get real and BE consistent, not just consistent when it’s convenient and doesn’t affect people we like.

Anovos is no longer making the uniform, so unless you have insider information or are going to sell him yours, recommending them is about as effective as telling him to go talk to Winston Churchill.

CPS is fine if that’s what you can afford. As with everything, this hobby has levels based on your financial ability. If you can afford more, the German Garrison is going to do another run of correct fabric next month I believe, and you can take that to one of the tailors we have to have a uniform crafted that will fit you perfectly.

I stand corrected, Anovos seems to have a limited number of the green back in stock.  That said, unless you're between 5'8" and 6'1", you won't fit in their costume without a LOT of tailoring (and if you're over 6'2" don't even try - I'd look like I was wearing my little brother's uniform).  So you'd pay $300 for the jacket, $200 for the pants, have to have a hat made by ordering another pair of pants (so another $200) and then pay for tailoring and accessories.

Seems like a waste of money to me, but YMMV

  5. Hi all,

After working with a recruit in my garrison and scanning the Krennic CRL, I feel that we need to make a couple of fixes to the CRL.

Specifically, we have two "alternate configurations" listed, but no "primary configuration" listed - leading to some confusion on what accessories are allowed in the main configuration.  I have seen Krenics with hats on with the cloak on, and the CRL doesn't say that this isn't a known config, so the members are wearing it like that, and GML's are approving it like that.

Also, the first Variant with the Poncho should either be split up into two configs, or be more specific - while I understand what the rank bar line means, someone who does not speak fluent english might take that to say they must have BOTH rank bars - a simple cleanup of the following would read better and be more precise:

Configuration 1 & 2: Opening Flashback Poncho / Non Flashback Poncho

    • Standard components with the exclusion of the cape.
    • Rain poncho is required.
    • Rankbar is EITHER a single bar of six red tiles in configuration 1, and OR the standard red-blue double bar rank in configuration 2.
    • Hat is required.

My recommendations for the config section is as follows - one, name it "Configurations" not Variants/Alternate Configurations

    Configurations:

    • Configuration One - Primary Costume
      • All standard components including cape
      • Rank Bar is the 6 red over 6 blue double bar configuration
      • Holster, gun, and eye color are allowed
      • Hat and poncho are NOT allowed
    • Configuration Two - Flashback Poncho
      • All standard components except the cape
      • Poncho is required
      • Hat is required
      • Rank bar is the 6 red single bar configuration
      • Holster, gun, and eye color are allowed
    • Configuration Three - Eadu Poncho
      • All standard components except the cape
      • Poncho is required
      • Hat is required
      • Rank Bar is the 6 red over 6 blue double bar configuration
      • Holster, gun, and eye color are allowed
    • Configuration Four - Young Jyn Flashback scene
      • All standard components except the cape
      • Tunic may not show fasteners, including those that would hold the cape in place if present.

      • Rank bar is the 6 red single bar configuration

      • Gloves are excluded

      • Eye Color is allowed

      • Hat, Poncho, Gun and Holster are NOT allowed

  6. The picture with Tarkin in it giving Thrawn his Admiral rank bar does say in the bottom left corner that he is Grand Moff Tarkin

I didn’t notice that - fair enough, they didn’t do the rank bar right.

Doesn’t mean throw the baby out with the bath water

  7. Tarkins tunic is not quite the same as movie ones and has the wrong rank, strange why they would do that

Since a Moff =/= Grand Moff (kinda like an Admiral isn’t a Grand Admiral), I would expect him to have a different rank.

A Four Star General doesn’t have the same rank as a General in the real military either.

  8. Hi all! I went over the diagram I did earlier and made changes based on that T-model that was posted. WOW neat thank you again for posting. I would LOVE To see the Generic Officers now.

From this you can see I added quite a few....

    • I realize some of these are small
    • I realize some of these could be argued
    • I realize some of these have been argued
    • But WOW thats a ton of differences.

Do we have a height difference between the two? If they’re the same height I absolutely agree with you. If it’s more like me and someone who’s 5’2”, I do not as you’d see the same thing.

thank you for describing this to me, i am going to go in and look at that CRL maybe it will help me with this cause using Krennic isnt enough help. :/

Welcome.  I get the desire to have them separate, but I don't think it's enough of a difference to warrant it.

Bottom line, we shouldn't be looking to the past but what we want to do going forward.  Do we want to be CTD with 500 CRL's based on a slight color change or different rank bar or different holster combination, or do we want to say "they're called uniforms for a reason, they're uniform" and note that there are on screen differences based on rank, and any of those differences are valid.

And then only have specific CRL's for the true oddballs - Issard, Krennic, Erso, etc.  (No, I don't think Dalla or Tarkin should have been a separate CRL, but what's done is done.)

  10. I get the worry, Dawn, but I respectfully disagree - look at line and Staff officers, there are so many "if you're doing this then this" buts in them that if we're going this route we're making a ton more work for ourselves to split up CRLs because they could be confusing.  Even the Bridge Crew with this bit:

    Summary of L2 requirements:

    • All movie versions may or may not have belt boxes.
    • ANH: No gloves or compad, has no code cylinders, no headset.
    • ESB: Same as ANH, but with 3 code cylinders and may wear a headset.
    • ROTJ: Has gauntlets and compad, but no code cylinders or headset
  11. My first costume was a Staff Officer - and it was what people don’t like to hear a lot, but was very true in my case: an easy and inexpensive way to join the Legion.

My second was Director Krennic - and it was a grown up version of my love for Vader as a child. The very first R1 trailer other members of my garrison were facing over the shore troopers or the death troopers, and I was in the back going “who the #^%*# is THAT guy? He’s awesome!” And this began my almost year long crusade to get the costume made and the CRL made.

I’m currently only Officers - though I have a Biker Scout and Vader planned. But I had a similar reaction to the FOSB as I did over Krennic - maybe it’s the white and black. Lol.

  12. I don't want to be a spoilsport, because I would LOVE this, believe me!  But do we have a single on-screen reference photo of these actually being used, or is the sole provenance the Visual Guide?  I'm really hoping we find something, but I'm not sure it should be a formal CRL-approved accessory, if the VG is truly the sole source.

VD is canon though -so while I understand this, if we go that route then anything not on screen (Comics for example) is out as well.

Scale is needed yes - but I haven’t sat down and watched the deleted scenes yet and I think that’s where they are.

  13. I think it's a good idea, however I think it should be stated which is Canon and non Canon so there is no confusion

Why though? Why would that matter when we accept both current canon and legends equally into the legion - unless you’re suggesting we throw out anything that is “non-canon”?

  14. However this part is the important bit, Video game characters must be part of the official storyline of the game, but this is something for the LMOs to decide

They already approved the shock trooper from BF1 so I think they pretty much already ruled there.

  15. Is who saying they have reversed course?

Well, I guess you, since I quoted you and you were the one that said we are going to create all those CRLs.

I know when Spike started work on the Lt CRL it was Mikata specific and it got cut down to Lt/Capt, so what you wrote kinda flies in the face of evidence from the LMOs to the contrary, unless you know something new, in which case I’m sure we can easily resubmit the Lt. Mikata CRL this week.

  16. The next step would be an own Mitaka-CRL, an own Canady-CRL, an own Datoo-CRL, an own Peavey-CRL, an own Piett-CRL, an own Ozzel-CRL, an own Motti-CRL, an own Yularen-CRL, an own Tagge-CRL and many more for sure. So there's a lot of work ahead for us to create all those new CRL's. But it would honor the IOC to create all these specific CRL's. Look at the Clone Trooppers Detachment: they have such a large amount of CRL's for each and every kind of trooper-color-shemes. So why should we not be able to do the same

    Thanks

My understanding was the LMOs took OUT the Mitaka specifics from the Lt. CRL specifically because they didn’t want a proliferation of one person CRLs for characters that had a half beat of screentime. Hence why you have Tarkin and Krennic, but not Admiral Ozzel or Admiral Piett. Main characters that drive a story vs the subordinates who are named for various reasons (such as not having to put “Officer Kylo Choked” in the credits).

I could be wrong but that was the information I was given why Mikata was stripped - are you saying the LMOs have reversed course?

  17. What about us non Cosplayers

Costumers and cosplayers are synonymous to most people. No need to get backs up or feelings bent over a word choice. Whether you like it or not most of the world looks at the Legions as cosplay organizations, thanks to the proliferation of the word on multiple TV shows and in print. I believe even the Readers Digest article about us this month used the word.

  18. Well I like it because it seems to have some logic in it. Do we make them approvable for 501st as this looks quite official to me?

Why wouldn’t we, unless we’re suggesting that the costume designers of the movies we get our costumes from aren’t an official resource?

  19. And they have either two our four belt boxes.

This change would mean to rename the RotJ Officer with the black tunic to be a Warrant Officer, right?

Then the "original" Staff Officer (with a rank-bar) would only exist in ANH (with the 451-tunic) ans in Rogue One. Is that correct?

I would say 451 needs to be separate, so you’d have ANH Staff and Staff Officer (R1/Comics/BF2)

I'd agree with this too. We have the visual references, so we have to match what it looks like. No matter how goofy it looks.

I only hope that maybe the final game will fix some of those things, but probably not...

No, the graphics are set.  It is what it is.
