So you're of the opinion that unless LFL unlocks the vault and gives us a clear picture of the back (more than we got in the movie and that Stephanie put so much time into) that this should never become a CRL?

This isn't about two wrongs and a right, this is about consistency.  When we've had questions in the past we've extrapolated, and corrected the CRL when we got new info.  If what we think is a center seam turns out to be a center and two princess seams - on black fabric, even in a lined up group shot, are we going to be able to tell one from another?

This is complete and utter poodoo.
Not once was I (former DL) notified that this would not be accepted, or I'd have yelled from the top of this hill that I'll die on, that this was a bad decision.
Mountain Trooper is based solely on a toy.
Captain Cardinal is 90 percent based on a toy (that has the wrong helmet!).
All the Spec Ops Army CRLs are based on crudely drawn comics, and look like bargain basement SWAT team members - which is why we didn't want them.
95 percent of the clones died before order 66, thus shouldn't even be 501st.
But because the back of a black costume isn't seen in full daylight, you're gonna nix it?
This is precisely the flawed reasoning that made me vote NO for your ratification.

When we are so beholden to this stuff, we quench any and all hype for the costume.  I’ve seen it many times (also in our active CRL library I’m sure you could pick out dozens of costumes with worse references than this one).

Yes we may get a back reference in the future.  MAY.  But if we do it will be way too late and this will be a single digit costume rather than one that could result in a new crop of people getting approved.

Let members make this costume, and if we ever get references that contradict the CRL, update it at that time.  We are losing an entire generation of costumers interested in First Order and Sith Eternal costuming by being overly dogmatic on our CRL process.

Can’t agree more. Being in the same garrison as the one who has been working on this costume, I was super excited for it and would have followed as soon as the crl was greenlit.

    Now?

Well I guess I’m staying with my bridge crew as my ONLY IOC costume.

Disappointed in the lmo’s for this. Disappointed in the sheer ridiculous nature of the call.

CLRs are updated all the time, they evolve and change as new information comes to light. This should be no different.
By the LMOs logic there could potentially never be a CRL for this costume.
OR… Some day in the future the CRL gets a minor update with a new seam or something on the back. Hardly the end of the world!

What is “official” though? If the movies are official and overrule all other media, and we totally ignore all other media as “mistakes” when the don’t match the movies specifically, are we getting rid of the Hask CRL for example because the programmers admitted on Twitter that it was supposed to match the movies but they screwed up?

I don’t have a care which way a rank bar is, or if a CRL is retconned when we have new info - but if we want to quote consistency let’s get real and BE consistent, not just consistent when it’s convenient and doesn’t affect people we like.

I stand corrected, Anovos seems to have a limited number of the green back in stock.  That said, unless you're between 5'8" and 6'1", you won't fit in their costume without a LOT of tailoring (and if you're over 6'2" don't even try - I'd look like I was wearing my little brother's uniform).  So you'd pay $300 for the jacket, $200 for the pants, have to have a hat made by ordering another pair of pants (so another $200) and then pay for tailoring and accessories.

Seems like a waste of money to me, but YMMV

CosplaySky all the way. It's cheaper than ANOVOS, about the same quality, looks way more screen accurate since the material doesn't have a strange, shiny plastic-like look to it. Not to mention, ANOVOS orders take ages to arrive if they aren't sold out of the items you need in the first place. Honestly, I'm surprised they're not out of business yet (probably going to happen soon if what I'm hearing from folks is true). Even if you start with CosplaySky and want to work up to a better quality costume, there are other options out there.

I know a lot of folks like ANOVOS but I've had too many bad experiences with them and their meh-quality all around.

    Hi all,

After working with a recruit in my garrison and scanning the Krennic CRL, I feel that we need to make a couple of fixes to the CRL.

Specifically, we have two "alternate configurations" listed, but no "primary configuration" listed - leading to some confusion on what accessories are allowed in the main configuration.  I have seen Krenics with hats on with the cloak on, and the CRL doesn't say that this isn't a known config, so the members are wearing it like that, and GML's are approving it like that.

Also, the first Variant with the Poncho should either be split up into two configs, or be more specific - while I understand what the rank bar line means, someone who does not speak fluent english might take that to say they must have BOTH rank bars - a simple cleanup of the following would read better and be more precise:

Configuration 1 & 2: Opening Flashback Poncho / Non Flashback Poncho
Standard components with the exclusion of the cape. Rain poncho is required. Rankbar is EITHER a single bar of six red tiles in configuration 1, and OR the standard red-blue double bar rank in configuration 2. Hat is required.
My recommendations for the config section is as follows - one, name it "Configurations" not Variants/Alternate Configurations

    Configurations:
Configuration One - Primary Costume All standard components including cape Rank Bar is the 6 red over 6 blue double bar configuration Holster, gun, and eye color are allowed Hat and poncho are NOT allowed Configuration Two - Flashback Poncho All standard components except the cape Poncho is required Hat is required Rank bar is the 6 red single bar configuration Holster, gun, and eye color are allowed Configuration Three - Eadu Poncho All standard components except the cape Poncho is required Hat is required Rank Bar is the 6 red over 6 blue double bar configuration Holster, gun, and eye color are allowed Configuration Four - Young Jyn Flashback scene All standard components except the cape Tunic may not show fasteners, including those that would hold the cape in place if present.
Rank bar is the 6 red single bar configuration
    Gloves are excluded
    Eye Color is allowed
Hat, Poncho, Gun and Holster are NOT allowed

Thanks for clarifying on this (I'm the recruit being reference in the OP). I just picked up my hat with Krennic disk and wasn't sure if I was allowed to wear it with the standard config. I might have to pickup a poncho now

Truthfully what I've seen above is one thing that keeps me away from this forum. You only added evidence to his end statement there in that incoherent rant. I've been on this forum for quite some time and the animosity presented in these blaster waving contests is pushing people away. Information is presented and if it doesn't line up with expectations it is dismissed and deemed contradicting. Where is the information to actually help build these things correctly or start trying to?

From what's been presented it seems rather simple to relate the officer's on the yacht to Dillon's rank system and our straight pants officers from ANH. We have this lined up for us far easier than we did even from when I started this process in '09. We have a wealth of information and need to take advantage of it.

    Hi guys!

A couple of things I've noticed regarding General Hux's CRL (and in turn, the generic FO General's CRL) and I'd like to request the following changes please!

    1. At some point (I believe back when Hux was most recently overhauled some months ago) the fold-over detail at the knee of the jodhpurs was removed. It did used to be there prior to the overhaul as optional but this needs to be basic clearance as a key feature of the pants design. This is a key aspect of the costume, and appears as an acceptable basic clearance requirement on the grey Lieutenant/Captain CRL. Please can this be added? You can see them a lot throughout the movie, and in the visual dictionary, and on several Hux action figures etc etc. You can also clearly see them in place on the CRL model's pants. Should just need to copy across the text from the Lieutenant/Captain as they're the same pants just in Hux's fabric!

    2. The greatcoat should have a split at the rear of the coat. It starts at the centre of the waist seam and goes right to the bottom. You can see this in the film, during Hux's speech, the wind catches the coat and you can see straight through that split. Check out this vid from around 1:18 in:

Again, this split is visible in several action figures etc. It is also clearly visible on the CRL model's coat. It's a key aspect of the coat's design, not hard at all to put into place, and should be there!

    3. For whatever reason the generic FO General has not been updated at all to keep up with Hux's updates. If one was to make a generic General and not a Hux, they'd be held to completely different standards to a Hux candidate. This needs updating in full please!

Since a Moff =/= Grand Moff (kinda like an Admiral isn’t a Grand Admiral), I would expect him to have a different rank.

A Four Star General doesn’t have the same rank as a General in the real military either.

Just a short question about the presented layout:

Why are the different rank insignia and the code cylinders to create Hask integrated in the text for the generic version and not also gathered as Configuration 1? That'd make it simplier.

Welcome.  I get the desire to have them separate, but I don't think it's enough of a difference to warrant it.

Bottom line, we shouldn't be looking to the past but what we want to do going forward.  Do we want to be CTD with 500 CRL's based on a slight color change or different rank bar or different holster combination, or do we want to say "they're called uniforms for a reason, they're uniform" and note that there are on screen differences based on rank, and any of those differences are valid.

And then only have specific CRL's for the true oddballs - Issard, Krennic, Erso, etc.  (No, I don't think Dalla or Tarkin should have been a separate CRL, but what's done is done.)

I get the worry, Dawn, but I respectfully disagree - look at line and Staff officers, there are so many "if you're doing this then this" buts in them that if we're going this route we're making a ton more work for ourselves to split up CRLs because they could be confusing.  Even the Bridge Crew with this bit:

    Summary of L2 requirements:
All movie versions may or may not have belt boxes. ANH: No gloves or compad, has no code cylinders, no headset. ESB: Same as ANH, but with 3 code cylinders and may wear a headset. ROTJ: Has gauntlets and compad, but no code cylinders or headset
