doc1863 got a reaction from Palpatiny in How's everyone holding up thru the Pandemic?
I know, I figured with being stuck at home people would be working on their costumes or chating.

doc1863 reacted to AmadorHimself in IOC Pin Badges
Hi all,
Can someone point me where I can find the meaning of these profile pin badges? Example: . . .
I tried to search on older posts, but I didn’t find anything. I just know they are related to the Executor and Imperator programs
Thanks!!

I liked the original Battlefront. I would go to the top of the hill overlooking the shield generator on Hoth using the sniper rifle and could shoot people all over the battlefield!

The names were arbitrarily decided upon years ago, out of sheer necessity and lack of official canon titles or descriptions. It has gently come up a small handful of times over the years, questioning if they need to be changed, and usually, in the end, not many people really seem to care for such change to happen. So here we are. Line & Staff postilions, as far as the US military defines them can be seen as Line Officers; officers trained to be in command, like Admirals in charge of Navies, fleets and armadas, Star Destroyer Captains, their XOs, and a few others lower down that chain who are in training to take that role one day. Staff Officers are military officers who've earned officer ranks, but may not always hold a true position of command or higher leadership authority due to their job, in example: doctors, lawyers, chaplains, protocol, personnel, logistics, maintenance, munitions, ect. Since newer canon (Rogue One & Solo) have appeared, official sources have done a fairly good job trying to retcon or somewhat explain the differences, not into separate positions, but more into distinct service branches. I.e. The olive uniforms represent the regular Imperial military's army, navy, and operations (for some reason operations is different than the army...I dunno why) branches, while the black (even including the navy troopers) uniforms are considered Security Forces & Stormtrooper Corps. I think this is not only generally a pretty good way to look at them, functionally, but is more in line with John Mollo's original plan that the black uniformed guys were Vader's men and everything else (excluding the ISB, of course) was basically the regular imperial military. I'm still fuzzy on why a naval captain was reduced to being a recruiting officer on Corellia, but hey, nothing is perfect. lol.

I was always under the impression that line officers made up the command structure. They lead troops in the field and higher ranking line officers made command decisions. Staff officers were "aides" to the higher ranking line officers and helped to staff and run command centers and headquarter positions thus the name staff officer.

That would be the Line officer. This guy:
https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_imperial_officer
They filled many roles in the Imperial Navy including commanding star destroyers.
The color of the uniform can range. If you look at photos online from 501st events you'll see many different shades of olive green have been approved. However the most accurate color you should be looking for is olive drab.
They wore many different rank bars, but the officers that commanded star destroyers typically were captains; 3 red squares on top, 3 blue on the bottom.
My advice for 501st members is pick a rank bar that matches your age. Basically don't wear a Grand Admiral rank if you are 19, however this isn't a rule and you can wear what you see fit! Hope this helps!

doc1863 reacted to captsafe66 in Let's share May the 4th online!!
Hello everyone!!
In this time of isolation and social distancing, we are going to have a hard time sharing any "May the 4th be with you" greetings this year.
With that in mind, I have set up a Facebook page to post any May the 4th videos you would like to share. I invite any of my 501st Legion, Rebel Legion or any other Star Wars group or fan to share a short video on this page.

doc1863 reacted to Alay in Krennic Badge CRL Pictures
Hey,
I've had a fair few folks ask me for Krennic-style badges with extra trim because of the Version 3/4 CRL photo here:
From the movie itself the trimming around the edges is much thinner than that (consistent with all Rogue One and Solo badges):
Most of the folks that have asked for the extra trim were going off the CRL and seeing the picture thought that it was supposed to have that extra trim on the sides. This could confuse costumers and GMLs that don't have particular knowledge on the sources.
Here's a replacement picture I took of a flashback-style bar with smaller trim that could replace the image:

doc1863 reacted to jeneyre in JenEyre's Imperial Officer Tunic Pattern
I FINALLY got around to digitizing my Imperial Officer Tunic pattern!!!
I ran a contest where people who donated to a project getting protective gear to doctors got a vote for every dollar they donated and my officer tunic was the winner by a landside!
Free printable PDF here:
http://www.jeneyre.com/2020/04/imperial-officer-tunic-pattern.html
This was originally made to fit - Bust 40, Waist 32, Hip 40 and 5'7" and is made to fit a form with some curves.
If you use the pattern, please consider donating what you would have spent buying a pattern to an organization supporting the effort to fight COVID-19!

doc1863 reacted to vonmoen in Doable Goal or a Pipe Dream?
Lots of members have trooped in other parts of the world, all it takes is contacting a Garrison where you'd like to attend a troop and see what events they have planned in the future. Sign up on their Forums, and see if they'd accept an out of area 501st member to troop with them. Most if not all Garrisons are glad to play host to other Garrison members.

We don't have an issue with troopers coming over to troop with us but since we are in Australia it's a bit of a hike for most but all are welcome.
Always good to have a few drinks with fellow troopers even if they didn't bring their kit.

Doing fine here...My team was fortunate to be able to work from home, so now I'm working from home. A lot of people where I work don't have that option.
Not trooping is giving more time to work on costumes...now if the weather would cooperate....
