kman got a reaction from CommanderCasis101 in Advice for Halloween uniform that I plan on making 501st approvable in the future (kepi cap help)
I have good news and bad news for you.

The Staff Officer costume from A New Hope is quite a specialized costume, and a very unique tunic that is only made commercially by one (very expensive) vendor, at this time.  The black officer uniforms from Cossky are a different pattern to the one worn by Praji.  Praji wore the "451 style" tunic, which is covered under this CRL: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_anh_staff_officer

The standard style tunic that you purchased is much more readily available... but it's a different tunic entirely.  It would work under this CRL instead: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Temp-Imperial-Staff-Officer_(Non_Saga)

For Halloween purposes, of course, you can call yourself whatever you want, and of course you're free to wear Praji's rank bar with the costume.  For approval, though, you'll want to be sure you're getting the right stuff.

Buying custom sewn hats this close to Halloween is always a bit of a gamble, if they don't have what you need in stock.  Many vendors have backlogs of orders to get through, again, especially under a month from Halloween.  Personally, I'd consider just buying the Cossky hat, if that's still an option, or anywhere you can find one in stock, really, and just use it for Halloween, and then replace it with a proper one when you have more time and aren't in a rush.

All that said, installing the code disk into a hat is REALLY easy, and you'd have to work pretty hard to actually screw up a hat while doing it.  Just shove a nail through to make a hole where you want it (centered), and then poke the screw through from the inside, for the code disk, and screw it in.  If you can work a screwdriver you have all the skills you need.

I've added a bunch of 4K screenshots to the Gallery.  For the time being I've listed the album as "ISB Officers (White and Grey)" because the grey officer IS on Lt Dedra's assistant on staff in her office, so it's possible it's just ISB in another color.  We don't really know for sure if he's just ISB in another color, or actually in a different branch that's somehow connected to ISB, but hopefully time will tell.  I'll adjust the album names at that time, if needed.

Yes indeed Kohlbauer ones were one of the most visually appeasing in my humble opinion. Would love to replace my boring riding stick with some of his work and have a true "Imperial Swagger Stick" with the cog and everything.\

By the way on the topic of cane-like accessories I imagine as mentioned before it's really a matter of the stick's lenght. Also as mentioned I once saw one that was specially made in 2 variants (one smaller as swagger stick, and second longer more like an actual cane). It would also be a very practical solution for any IOC members with walking issues.

The animated style code cylinder clips are essentially the OT clips (in silver) but without the little part that clips around the cylinder, and pokes through the pushes down the paddle-shaped part.  They haven't really been changed since we first saw them in Rebels, as I recall.

There are some good files with the OT clips posted here in one of the DIY code cylinder threads.  (I think Philo also makes them?)  Looks like the Clone Wars animated versions are slightly more squared off at the top, which is sort of in line with their animated style.

Here's a work-in-progress shot from the first set of cylinders I made, years ago.  (Just the paddle parts, not the T shaped bit that was left out)  Note the tip gets curled under to make the squared off bottom of the clip.

Yeah, I was worried about that.  Looked sunken in below the paint level, if you will, in one of the photos, but above it in another, so I was hoping it was just weird compression edge effects, but I guess not.

Painting it in is probably as good as it'll get, yeah.  Meh.

Or cheat and go for some black electrical tape LOL

I agree, CalaZhan has a couple of Chiss costumes and would be a good resource for that.

And I concur with Bob that I could see the home for those costumes being either Flagship Eclipse, or a "new" class of officer being brought to the IOC.  I am biased towards the IOC, of course, but there are certainly valid arguments for both.

When you say "in LA" do you mean Los Angeles, Louisiana, or somewhere else?

If you mean Los Angeles, you're in my area, and the Southern California Garrison is going to be your local group to connect with for events and such. Come say hi there, too!

I would like for the ONLY difference for the components of this costume is that the tunic is cream colored... other than that, I would want it to be the same as the security services word for word.

Changes approved and wiki has been updated.  I suspect they'll be live shortly.

The clock starts now, on the old style being grandfathered out.  The next administration can make the final call.  (if that's us, I'd say somewhere between 3-6 months, so we'll see)

Meanwhile, both styles are approvable.   (If you're starting now, though, I would definitely not spend money on anything other than the more accurate newer style!)

As I understand it, @Imperialrebel is modifying her tunic's back to incorporate this updated information, at which point we will collect final images and prepare this CRL for submission to the LMOs.

Looking forward to finally getting this one out the door!

Oh yes, last thing. I was thinking we update the CRL if we ever come across Rebel Officers w/ straight pants and non-boots. Does not feel like something we include for now.

To me piping would make it look less animated, I see the animated style as minimalistic and adding piping would make an officer uniform look busy and full of unnecessary detail especially since the Rebels officer uniforms don’t have piping. In Rebels for cadets you can clearly see the grey piping—they are not just lines drawn to show seams they are genuinely extra piping details—they don’t just follow seams on the uniform, they are added in other places to make a design on the uniform—so it’s deliberate extra detail and not just lines drawn to show the seams, so it makes sense for that costume but you don’t see piping in the officer uniforms. In Rebels officers there are lines showing seams (which the uniform has and does show—the CRL even says “stitches visible on exterior surface of fabric”, and to me that is what we are seeing in Rebels not piping) and on the side where it buttons you’ll see shadow lines (sometimes it looks wider or smaller depending on lighting in the scene) and you’ll see the slight overlap on the shoulder to show that’s the side with the flap that’s buttoned and there is no piping there, just shadow, there are no extra lines to show extra details or design in the officer uniforms like you see in the cadet one. All the current animated  officer uniforms CRLs don’t have piping either because it’s just the seams which can be seen, so it’s consistent that they don’t have piping.

I'm good with the Tunic, hat, and belt language proposed.

While I haven't compared it exactly, I think we should use whatever the language is for other RECENT officer jodphurs, so the language all aligns as much as possible.  The one exclusive bit included (from Pryce) is this: "The flares on the jodhpurs mimic the shape of Rebels officer’s flares"

That seems like a reasonable inclusion, the question is where to put it.  I also would like some eyes on the actual show by someone (sadly not me... my schedule barely allows bathing the past few weeks, and I don't want my wife to kick me out of the bedroom just for some costume research LOL) just to *verify* those unusual flare shapes are truly universally present on the officers, or if they're a bit of a mishmash of shapes.

Assuming we confirm they're pretty standard (or even THE standard), I still feel like this is a Level 2 detail.  Someone commissioning a costume from scratch will have something to aim for, but we have a somewhat lower bar of entry for a relatively minor detail (I mean... look at the flaps we allow for regular officers!) at the basic level, should someone have another pair at the ready.
