I got my cloak already from cosdaddy, will take pictures probably tonight or at worst tomorrow so people can see what it's like.

Well, I concur that it would be nicer if they had read our CRL's first, or had a 501st IOC member there to advise them. Green pants with a black top? Man, we could have kitted these folks out, analogous to how they used two R2 Builders to make R2 in TFA.

OK, I read through all the pages and here are my notes. I presume you are taking the lead James in keeping the first post clean?
1. Explain your color coding on the top.
For instance, you can say "black is the same text we use on Tarkin" so it's clear that this is just copy/paste, blue is specific deltas between the original "Tarkin CRL" and this one. Red is...what? Recent corrections? Controversial items?
2. Please clearly separate out L2/L3. When it doubt, put it at L3. It's better at the start of the CRL to make it more liberal and tighten up over time than the other way around.
Rank bar - summarize to say that we will use the same text as Tarkin CRL then call out only deltas, e.g. red/blue inverted and also that a single badge can be used (Tarkin has two distinct rows). Will save space.
Belt - summarize to say that we will use the same text as ISB CRL to save space, and then call out differences, e.g. stud on right instead of left, and for L3 that the disk on the buckle is different (or appears to be).
Belt - summarize to say that we will use the same text as ISB CRL to save space, and then call out differences. For the button, that can be an L2 requirement, and you will also need to specify the approximate size/location.
Trousers/Boots - summarize to say that we will use the same text as ISB CRL to save space
Hat - summarize to say that we will use the same text as ISB CRL to save space, make it optional. Call out that for L3, disk is different than OT.
Cloak - I think much of the stitching pattern can be L2/L3. If it is the right color/pattern that can be fine for L1 and then leave room for more details as you get to L2/L3.
For the hair, since it's a face character we should use the same language for hair color as we did Tarkin but not over-complicate it. I think simply saying that it's brunette hair that is graying could be fine for now.
For the holster - are there ever shots where he does not have it?
For the weapon, we can at least say that it's a replica blaster that has a brown grip, a black scope offset on the left with silver accents. Take a look at the staff officer Power5 description - it really doesn't say much at all.

Kalani brings up some good points. There are a lot of CS (cosplaysky) folks out there and that are 501st, so saying "don't do it" is a bit over the top.
However we would be remiss without clearly calling out the caveats. Most people (at least in my garrison) do need further tailoring to get it to fit right, which is an extra cost.
Secondly, the jodhpur flares are not really done well, and at least as a GML nearly every applicant I've seen both in my own garrison and here on IOC has had to have them reworked to some degree.
Are these points egregious to say don't order from them? Certainly not, however before buying you should be aware that ordering online doesn't mean perfect fit when it arrives or that it may not need work.
For a secondary costume cosplaysky and other vendors like cosdaddy can be perfectly acceptable, but they will not look or be as high quality as having a custom made ID done with better fabric. They again, they don't cost as much either!

According to the VD the cuffs signify rank. Major cuffs say "Tarkin" in Aurebesh, Colonel's says "Kaplan". A very stupid system in my opinion, for to recognize whether an officer is a Colonel or Major (so whether he outranks you or not, for example), you'd have to VERY closely look at their cuffs to recognize what it says...
Interesting nods to certain figures, eh?

Will be neat to see, still.

A good start. You need to look more imperious.

Mark is spot on!

That is so cool! Someone cares about very much

Well, you can always shorten a strap. Could you make it long, troop, adjust, troop, adjust? This is what we do as TK's with our straps there.

C'mon bro - we want pix!

Voted - sure like the 2nd meself. Go coded transmissions!

Nice! Haven't heard diddly on mine yet.

Coded Transmissions
Whoa! LOVE IT!!!! Much better than mine.

I stick with tried and true pin backings. I have some with magnets too, but I find them to be too easily moved, and I hate constantly readjusting them.
I have this issue too, but then I thought I could get a seamstress to sew the magnets in the inside of the tunic. Then, I just have to worry about putting the outside one on correctly.
-
I used magnets. I didn't want to constantly poke holes in the fabric, especially the IOC white tunic. Magnets prevent that from happening, and also allow me to quickly swap out various rank bars.

Dunno - still looks the same to me. I guess we'll find out some day when they release the color key.
-
Can't wait to see pix. I was set to push the button, but honestly I need some tweaks to my current IOC costumes more than I need another one.
-
Certainly not jodhpurs. It's either highly tailored pants, or it almost looks like it's a unitard under that jacket.
-
Hey Dean - would you know how tailorable these are? I ask in that I have a 16" neck and a 35.5" sleeve (puts me at an XL), but I have a 41 inch chest and a 32 inch waist. I'm afraid I'd either swim in large, or else get a medium and find the sleeves too short by 2" and the neck too tight.

Guys - just remember that L1 is basic acceptance and isn't meant to be perfect screen accuracy or prop replication. Also, when BJ & I did the IOC CRLs, we were very careful to do a lot of standardization on common parts like rank bars, boots, etc. for numerous reasons. So, let's focus on the main parts for now. L1 should not be perfection - it should be a pretty good representation of the character at a reasonable cost/level of effort that is consistent with other L1 costumes in IOC.
