Most of you are at Celebration, so you probably either saw or heard that finally, there is going to be a 6" Thrawn figure in the Black Series

I gotta admit, I cannot wait to get my hands on this figure.

DarthFunk83 got a reaction from PArmstr in Proposed Science Officer (Galen Erso) CRL
So, I've made a little bit of progress on making the Science Officer uniform. Here are my Chelsea Boots (really love the look) and rank bar (courtesy of Chris, aka Thubin)
I've also ordered an olive green uniform from Cosplaysky, but the pants are jodhpurs. I'm going to see if CS can make normal straight legged trousers with no stirrups or buttons on the pants.

I noticed the metal pins too.
Thatmakes sense to me. The Rebels TV show is the best visual guide for the canon Thrawn.

DarthFunk83 got a reaction from lantern2745 in Strongbow's Code Cylinder Tutoral
The only thing that I have now done differently is that instead of making my own clips out of brass, I've purchased really good reproduction dosimeter clips from ID5850. They were cheap and look far better than anything I could have made. Here is a link to his sales thread
Now I feel those chalk holder code cylinders are gonna look really sharp and solid.

Here are the samples!
The edges aren't completely finished off yet, but I think they came out nicely.

I'm the Sandtrooper in the background greedily looking at Him, while patrolling (I want an Ice cream too ...)

DarthFunk83 got a reaction from Padme13 in Strongbow's Code Cylinder Tutoral
Thanks kman!! Yeah, too thin would definitely be bad too. Im guessing there is a happy medium. My guess is that 22 gauge brass is the upper limit. Perhaps 24 gauge would be okay too. 20 gauge, in my opinion, is too difficult to work with (at least with makeshift tools like Im using).
UPDATE: So, spray painted the washers and glued the "gems" on top of the code cylinders. Im actually really happy how they turned out. Once I buy thinner brass and remake the clips and the thumb piece, I think its going to really come alive. Im actually pretty happy with them right now, but I know they can be better.

DarthFunk83 got a reaction from Bootlegger137 in A couple of beginner questions...
CS has not fixed their jodhpurs as far as I know. And it seems like they might never. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you take the uniform into the tailors, you can get them to decrease the size of the flares a little bit. Otherwise, starch the flares and leave it.

So, I've started making a line officer as well, and I have bought my uniform from CS. In my opinion, you might as well get the custom sizing. Alot of the negative feedback was due to Chinese New Years a few months back, and yes they can be hit and miss, but I find that they're pretty good. Might require minor adjustments. As far as I know, the olive green uniform has the same stitching etc as the Deluxe. You should ask though, just I case.
And last, my boots are Hessen. In my opinion Hessen is better than Todd's, and since the pricing is close, I see no reason why not.

I know it wouldn't be canon, but a white coat in the same style to go with my Grand Admiral costume would look sharp

DarthFunk83 reacted to Dimentex in Creating and Editing CRLs
Granted, I'm not the LMO, Cari is, but from both the scene and the picture in the RO VD, it was a standard Olive tunic and Olive straight pants with shoes/boots (they appear to be Chelseas (sp?), but might not be), so I think in the long run you're going to be good Sean.

DarthFunk83 reacted to Rhaethe in Creating and Editing CRLs
Friendly neighborhood LMO here, posting today about CRL's and You. What I am about to outline is not a step by step detailed thing, but rather, a high level informational post about CRL's and the path they take throughout their "lives". What we want and aim for is a set of references a person can use to craft a costume that is as close to screen / reference material as possible. That is the goal. We also need to keep consideration of our members in mind.
For new CRL's, it goes like this: a proposal is made by the detachment or member. If the member is already working with the detachment, great. If not, they get directed there. The detachment will provide the LMO with all requested reference material and proposed wording for the proposed new CRL. The LMO will review on a first pass, saying whether or not a CRL can/should be created. With that green light, work can forge forward. Please note, that is just a yes/no on whether or not the CRL can be made. No review is done on wording at that time. Once the detachment has finished its wording and collected its pictures, they submit to the LMO.
LMO reviews. LMO Team reviews. Lead LMO reviews. At each review period, expect that wording changes will take place. Expect that new, extra, different photos may be required. Then Lead LMO sends the finished product back to the DL for a thumbs up. Then, it gets published and "made green".
As for edits and updates to already existing CRL's .... they are done with almost as much multi-person involvement and sanity checking.
Once a detachment (in this case, you folks here) decide that a change should be made, that change gets posted in your designated place. LMO reviews it. LMO Team reviews it. Lead LMO reviews in some cases. Once the proposed change gets the thumbs up, THEN the change is made in Databank.
At no point is anything assured with a proposed new CRL or edit ... until it is actually published. And it only gets published after multiple reviews. This has not been, necessarily, how things worked in years past. And it is, indeed, a tightening up from last year. This is not in place to be obstructive. Rather, it is an effort to keep edits sane, transparent, and to keep everyone, including the membership at large, informed.

DarthFunk83 reacted to Dimentex in Commander Orson Krennic
If this is a new CRL and not an addendum to the current Krennic CRL (which I originally thought Rain Coat and Flashback were going to be), let's not repeat the mistakes we are trying to fix from the current CRL.
I.E. lose the bit about exact measurements on the collar and the number of snaps and buttons to close it - the measurements should be approximate to match the wearer (2 inches on my neck is a WHOLE lot shorter than 2 inches on the neck of a 5'3" person), and the snaps bit was matching the costume of the CRL model, NOT the screen used costume.
Other than that, I can't see any of your pictures because Photobucket is trash - might move them to Imgur - but sounds like you're on the right track.

Jedi Master? Yoda... You seek Yoda!!
So I am currently down in San Francisco for a short trip, and I was told that there was a Yoda fountain that I absolutely HAD to go see. I agreed, and the experience was something amazing As I walked toward the Lucasfilm building, headed toward the Yoda fountain and the Lucasfilm Lobby, it was truly an emotional journey. Here are some pics I snagged. Definitely something I would absolutely recommend to any Star Wars fan. Enjoy!!
