That TLJ rank is the General rank like Hux. but Just that Hux have a different outfit and coat.
If to put it as Admiral/General, I think it is still ok.Only issue there is we already have a generic FO General CRL.
If the generic General isn't Hux's uniform, then the entire generic FO General as we know it, needs completely reworking? -

At first I thought that's a new rank like Commodore or so, but now I#d also say they changed the Admiral into this rankbar-style for TLJ. Maybe the TFA-style can be an option as we know they exist.
I think first port of call is seeing if we get any clarity on the rank? If they're both Admiral then yeah we can just allow both? No need for any separate configurations, since we don't see anything different in TFA (since we barely see any of them at all).
Suggestion:
Move forward with a black wrap-over uniform with the pointed pants. First Order Admiral. Allow both of the rank bars. If we find out later that the TLJ version with no red on his rank bars is a different rank, we just amend the rank bar information and title of the CRL (if possible?) so that it's like the Lieutenant/Captain and Colonel/Major where the only difference is a rank bar. -
I should go back and do a full re-watch myself actually, now that it's wrapped up.

I mean.... -technically- the First Order salute is a fist raised vertically in the air, rather than a flat palm pointed away from yourself diagonally.
But like, try doing that in a First Order officer's uniform and you'll be in trouble.
How possible is it to even perform that salute, with your arm that straight and high, in an FOTK??? FOTK's cant even dab properly. Don't ask me how I know this. -

This is a cool thread! I never quite grasped before that the names of many background characters weren't named until the games and books came out. Now I noticed the modern movies try to give every background character a name beforehand, and Lucasfilm seems to be trying to make sure the First Order ranks are consistent.
I dare say this came along with the introduction of a lore keeper in Pablo Hidalgo, and all the visual dictionaries etc. I don't know when "loremaster" was something LFL cared about, or when the assigning of names to EVERYONE became a thing? Probably when they realised they probably needed to put their approved stamp on everything well in advance, so that all the people merchandising were singing from the same hymn-sheet with no open doors for people to make up their own lore/name things that weren't specifically their IP?

Oh lord, the less said about the First Order salute, the better. :C

Hah! I had no idea that the ISB as a whole were spawned from a card game, I thought they'd been intentional the entire time! The more you know. <3

We haven't seen green ponchos yet...
A few were made back in the day when green was permitted for line officers, they looked great too! So there is def the fabric available out there for a noncanon green one, Angelus made those ponchos in particular so nudged for a tip for fabric.

Yeah I know... I was thinking about getting a black one to satisfy the CRL then getting a feldgrau just for cons or non 501st wear. My tailor and I are just having issues finding the right shade of feldgrau in water shedding polyester...so if someone knows of some please post.
Ah yeah that'd be totally fine.
Tagging in @Angelus who made several of the green ponchos, I don't suppose you could give any pointers on water sheeting fabrics here?
I guess the trick, as with everything line officer, is matching those shades of green/olive/feldgrau. :S- rattleandburn and Tentayena

I'm also throwing support behind the trenchcoat idea if that is something you'd be interested in. Would like to see more of them out and about!

Pryce was a stellar villain, I loved her throughout the series and through reading Thrawn. It's a shame she'd "served her purpose" I guess but she was a brilliant character. <3 She remains on the "to do" costume list.
Also worth remembering: Alliance is due to be set, I think, between series 3 and series 4. So we're not going to be given any information regards what happened after the jump.
Which ALSO means... the doors are wide open for MORE Thrawn content. Aw yissss -

A lot of mixed feelings from me. I've been a big fan of the series, admittedly haven't followed it from the beginning. Came in a little late. XD But.. yeah it felt a little bit "...oh, okay" for me.
Excited to see what the future holds though, now that this is tied up reasonably neatly. -
I picked up an olive CosplaySky uniform because they were doing various sales and it came out really cheap. I made sure to tick the box that said it would be custom made to my measurements, which was an extra $25ish or so. I then wrote a full War&Peace of my measurements in the box provided.
The fit is actually very good! The fabrics aren't great and don't feel like the most luxe in the world, but you get what you pay for! The only two gripes I have for the CosplaySky uniforms out of the box is that the collars don't often close very well (there's also a lot of discussion about adding a modesty panel on the collar to boost your accuracy and hide any unsightly gaps at the throat showing skin!) and the flare in the pants is ridiculous. Elephant ears!I recommend getting the front and back of the flares in the pants interfaced with a woven interfacing, and then get those flares tapered in to better match the flare seen on screen. It's really not that wide, and shouldn't stick out further than the flare at the bottom of the tunic. It should follow the line of the bottom of the tunic, and then curve back inward, not bellow out.
I hope this help! Look forward to seeing what you go for. -

In my opinion, as someone who doesn't understand the technical terms, I would rather learn them so I could forward them to a professional who will be making the costume. Tailor or Seamstress or not, if you're gonna make the costume yourself or have a professional do it you gotta know the correct terms. Adding pictures to the details on the CRLs would help alot with understanding the technical terms.
A sort of "details" gallery or links to specific areas of the costumes that have a very specific required look would be amazing, and super helpful!
And returning to the terminology etc for CRL's @Exaldear you say that the inclusion of techniques would cause you to switch off, however my proposal is that the laymans term is -always- included first as a visual descriptor of what you need to be aiming to replicate. Then, if a technical term exists, it would be included in brackets as an expansion on that information. It wouldn't be more than a couple of extra words. A layman or someone who has no interest in searching the term or learning what the technical term means doesn't have to do any extra work, yet the information is there for those who want that little bit more? -
Thanks for the clarity Dawn.
Hopefully the CRL model/whoever needs to provide this information if there are pieces missing or new photos required can be contacted, unsure who'd be the one to do this?
I had thought that there were full Rebels turnarounds of Thrawn's character model so there shouldn't be too much left that we haven't managed to confirm?
I'm sure it'll get cleared up and the final t's crossed, i's dotted etc. Glad to see that people can still submit costumes.- rattleandburn and Tentayena

Because then you make it too confusing if there are multiple descriptions. You need to make it accessible for everyone, not just you. Or in other words, keep it simple.
Unsure how making it as clear as possible, ensuring you're capturing the layman term and the technical, is not making it accessible for as many people as possible? Simple isn't always the best way forward.
BUT! I'm not an LMO and was merely voicing my thoughts.- Tentayena and Paggeldiwwer

I don't even think I've cracked the spine of my Celebration copy of Thrawn. I went and bought a regular copy to actually read. XD Fancy special edition Thrawn is safely tucked away on a bookshelf somewhere to likely never bee touched again.
Action figures and toys I'll open and mess around with. Books? Books are serious business!
