My friends and I found it, not knowing she was a fellow 501st member at the time, and decided to do it for ourselves at troops. We've been doing it for a few months now, and we thought it'd be fun to get other members to do it too!

I was unsure where to put this, so in the end I decided that’s something CRl related and dropped it here.
 
It seems to me there’s a communication issue regarding the Anovos tunic and the requirements for lvl 2. In another thread Kris stated that there’s an exception for Anovos tunics as they lack the waist seam in the front panel of the tunic. Anovos tunics are approved to Executor status even though the requirement
“There is a seam running the entire circumference of the tunic, dividing it along a line hidden by the uniform belt”
Isn’t completely fulfilled.
 
I used the search option of our forum but haven’t found a thread where this exception was official announced. That’s something I had expected to find as it’s something all possible applicants with an Anovos tunic could benefit from this exception and hadn’t to modify theirs to match the requirement. As I’m unaware if members of my garrison bought from Anovos I’d appreciate an official confirmation so I’m able to give the best advices to my applicants as GML of my garrison (which would be to go to a local tailor or seamstress in the first place, but that’s another topic).
 
Maybe it’s possible to add the reasons that led to this decision, as it’s unusual for the 501st to privilege a certain vendor. The rare scenes that are the base for this specific requirement show exactly the part of the tunic where Anovos lacks it.

its made its way into the recent Role Playing game publications where 75% of the Star Wars lore comes from when not taken from the movies.  It is part of the broader Star Wars universe.
 
double rank bars are more like fleet officers not sector officers.  That is why double rank bars and single rank bars coincided with each other in Rogue One and Rebels.

Black uniformed officers have been seen in the comics a multitude of times with double stacks (and in official artwork as seen above).  No, they aren’t seen in ANH...but they exist, there’s no denying it.  To be honest if you can match a specific comics officer configuration I don’t see why those can’t eventually be accepted for level 2 and 3 as well (I’d say the same for Rebels with the red code cylinders and interesting ranks, but it seems those will be a different CRL).

Wanted to share some photos from Cocktails over Coruscant that was held last Thursday in the Polaris club of the Atlanta Hyatt.  We created an immersive cocktail and dinner hour for over 52 people who came together.  46 of them were dressed as imperial officers.  We also had two human women and 4 Twileks.  Lord Vader was in attendance and led the entire procession from the Marriott to the Hyatt.

We were just featured in Bleeding Cool News and are talking to a few other news outlets.  We'll post them here if they are published.

I would have to go back and have a second look, but I always very much interpreted it as a black uniform. Especially since in any other depiction of Sloane, she's been in black until she was promoted to Grand Admiral.

There's been other art of her in the black uniform as well, which is depicted on her wiki page, but I could not for the life of me tell you if it was fanart or not. But I have never seen and official art of her in the field grey

There are -so- many instances of double stacked rank bars in the comics, that it would be extremely short sighted to dismiss doubleranks on black uniforms. I'm not even sure why this is being argued again, when clearly enough evidence was produced in the past to warrant the reversal of just such a restriction, surely? Do we have to regurgitate all the comics panels again and again?

Also grey tones are used in comics and general artwork regularly to avoid having to colour black with -actual- black which would look terrible.

For what little money you spend CPS isn't bad. And you can always upgrade later if you fall head over heels in love with the costume itself.

But if you haven't been told before, literally BOMBARD them with extra measurements. The custom sized option is an absolute must, and email them a more detailed list after you order. What they ask for will not be enough.

Additionally, if you would like, i have Anovos, CosplaySky, and the Weird Joann's Field grey fabric that i can get photos of if you still need them

So! For whatever reason my camera did NOT want to show the differences between the joanns fabric and the cosplaysky fabric

As a general statement, the cosplaysky fabric will photograph in a range from what to see there to a more bright green. The joanns ranges from what you see to a darker grey depending on lighting. The Anovos is a bit darker than all of them. I don't have the German fabric, but i would say it would probably fit between the Joann's fabric and the Anovos. 

Additionally, the cosplaysky does not have a distinctive weave to it, as it's entirely a polyester fabric, which the others are less synthetic. The other fabrics also have more of a weight to them, so a cosplaysky won't be able to have as crisp of a seam when you press it. It can be done with some work, but the heavier fabrics will lay flatter, esp since they'd be interfaced as well.

Overall though, for the price of the cosplaysky, it's great. 
But if you decide to upgrade down the line, I 100% reccomend grabbing some fabric and commissioning a tailor. Then you'll get a perfectly fitted suit made for you!

I finished it over the weekend. As I said, it was good, but not as good as the first. Also I feel like the ending was rather unsatisfying, just kind of abrupt. I assume that's because a third will be coming (hopefully with some more Eli Vanto).

501st was pretty standard. I had made a Kylo Ren cosplay and took it to one of our bigger local cons. Ended up meeting a few members and they encouraged me to join since my costume was just about there. It then took me 4 months to actually join because my boots were lost in the void. 

And I loved it, but Kylo is a bit of a beast to wear. And with my health not being the best, I started looking into costumes that would be a bit physically easier to wear. And since we had a few other Kylos in my garrison, I settled on Hux as my next build. 

Found a lovely person to build it, paid for it, got a wig and all the needed things for the costume.... Then did a makeup test one day and it took 3 entire hours to get my eyebrows ginger. And I was not about that life. A friend suggested that I try Mitaka instead, since we had similar features and demeanors. I was here for it. And it required much less makeup wizardry.
 
@rattleandburn was an absolute gift and switched what she was making, and then I had to track everything else down.

Interestingly, I actually ended up getting approved in the IOC with my line officer first, and then submitting the first order LT about a week after, but that 100% was not the intention. Esp since I need to go back and remake that whole uniform.

I know that around this uniform there is a heated discussion and it was not easy to name the topic, but I refer to him.
 
I understand that the main problem is how to put it in CRL, because the same tunic is for an admiral on TFA... I think that only the rank bands can determine the rank and the color uniform depends on the role that the officer have... like the black and olive imperial officer.

Regarding TLJ references: The jacket for the most part remains very similar in design. As with all of the FO Uniforms for TLJ, structurally they were all improved upon after TFA but design-wise it's the same base jacket.
There are numerous changes in the pants design though. These changes also differ between Petty Officers, through the Gunner/Engineer and other personnel. If the maker is after specifically a TFA build, it's probably for the best just to focus on TFA references at present.

I had known of the existence of the 501st for a while, but only really became interested in joining after I left my first viewing of TFA knowing I wanted to make a Kylo Ren costume.
I've always been a "If you're going to do something, do it properly" sort of person. I found that I was a sucker for the details, that I wanted to replicate the costume to the best of my ability, as a personal challenge to myself. There was a lot of information out there about Kylo when I started my research, and the 501 CRL documents were a useful checklist for all the little areas I needed to "hit" in order to be the best Kylo I could be, to a fairly well known level of accepted standard.
If your costume was 501st approved? Oh wow! That meant something! To me, anyway. It was a badge of honour worth working for. Something you could be proud of!
 
During my time researching and building Kylo and in my early days of trooping, I got to know people both local to me and further afield in my garrison. I also started my second costume build for Hux. More research. More networking. More connections and more friends. Around the world! One Celebration went past, in London. Another in Orlando. Orlando Celebration was possibly one of the best experiences of my entire life, purely because of my friends and my big loud Legion family (with all its brothers and sisters).
 
Costuming with the 501st is absolutely pushing me to better myself, learn more skills, know more stuff. I love the challenge, to be honest! It's also put me in touch with friends near and far who I very likely would never have met otherwise, and who I don't know how I ever went without talking to or hanging out with. It's a costume club that definitely makes the most of passionate people (for better or worse) and it's had its ups and downs, but I've honestly never felt more at home.

Looks great!! I'm scanning this and what I spot right off the bat is the missing comm unit and the pants look a bit off reference.  I know some others have some pictures here they have as reference. But id say that comm unit needs to be added. If they were seen without it I would be ok with optional.
 
The pants are probably correct but these need tailoring to fit the wearer and look like the reference.
