  1. I voted “like some parts didn’t like some parts”. I mean I still liked the movie but it’s certainly not one of the best in my opinion.

I got pretty annoyed that they made Hux comic relief pretty much in every scene he was in. It would ha e been okay once or twice but when you do it too much it takes away from the threatening factor that one of the main villain characters should have. He’s the main officer character in these films and it’s just bad that they made him comic relief to that extent, especially as someone who’s a fan of the officer characters.

  2. It was alright. I still enjoyed it to an extent but some parts just felt like they weren’t the best idea. I also didn’t like how a certain character was basically made comic relief in every scene. I have only seen it once but I find it hard to imagine that my opinion will change much on another viewing.

My favourites are still the original trilogy and Rogue One.

I measured across both shoulders. I also gave them shoulder to waist.  Waist to knee . Not sure if they used those last two measurements ,but figured it couldn't giving it to them.

Yeah I don’t know if they need those either but it probably helps them figure out how to proportion everything better overall. So thanks. I hadn’t even thought of those.

After three days of technical issues I can finally give you an answer.

I first measured every shoulder from neck to shoulder end and then the total shoulder width from one end to the other and gave them both measurements.

    Hope this helps!

I was wondering what was going on. I think I sent you a PM too just in case you didn’t see my reply to you in this thread but I don’t even know if that went through.

By the way when I mentioned thinking of giving them my waist-crotch measurement earlier I actually got confused by diagrams online....I mean the lady who measured me for my green one(which isn’t done yet) measured one side from waist to crotch but online I saw some diagrams where people measureme waist - crotch by going down the one side in the front but then between the legs and up the back to the waist on the back side. So if I give them waist - crotch measurement I wonder if they’ll know what I mean exactly?

As with Stefan and everyone else, I can also add, I would add inseam and outseam to the list of additional measurements. And stick to just cm

    Thanks!

By the way everyone, I have noticed that the flaps on the CosplaySky pants are a little weird. Am I probably going to have to have them altered?

Another officer also helped me find this thread which is useful:

I also gave them my shoulder width, but the other measurements look all good! And you can also give them the waist-crotch measurements, the more the better.

Measurements in centimetres should be enough, they are confused witch inches.

I keep my fingers crossed that everything turns out as you need it!

Do you measure across both shoulders for that measurement or just one? I am not so familiar with measuring that part.

    Thanks. :)

  5. Hey everyone. Sorry I haven’t been here for a couple months but I got a black hat from Wampa Wear so I think I am set there. I also have everything else ready to go for my black staff officer uniform except for the main parts(tunic and pants).

Now I am currently doing my measurements to order a custom one from CosplaySky. Before I actually submit an order, what are all the additional measurements I should give them?

So far I am going to be giving them my height, weight, neck measurement, bust measurement, waist measurement, hips measurement, shoulder to wrist measurement, but am I missing anything else I should be telling them? I know when I got measured for a green line officer uniform(which I don’t yet have) the lady measuring me also took my waist-crotch measurement(to determine how long the tunic part from my waist to crotch should be). Should I send a measurement like that to CosplaySky also? I am not as sure about how to measure properly for that part.

I am also thinking of providing the measurements in both inches and centimetres but I hope it won’t be confusing I just thought it might make it easier. When in slight doubt I am also choosing measurements that might be SLIGHTLY larger than what I need because I would rather something fit slightly large than be too small. If something is too small you can’t really have it made bigger.

One thing I'll add, that I forgot to mention earlier, is that the Cosplaysky hat and belt are not approved, so don't buy them.

I already have a belt so that's okay but not a hat. What's wrong with their hat exactly? Just wondering. Also where should I get a hat from instead then that will still match with the CosplaySky uniform if I go that way?

Thanks for all the posts so far everyone.

  7. Anyone know a good source for a staff officer uniform(black uniform)? I am still waiting for my green uniform to be done(I have all the parts to go with it, just not the hat, tunic, and pants) and I have no idea when it will be. I was always planning to eventually do the black uniform though also and have ordered a different rank bar for that as I know they're different from what the green officers wear.

So anyway while I am waiting on the green still I am hoping to see about getting a black one in the works.

I actually remember coming into Star Wars very late in my childhood... I was probably around 12 years old and the first version of Star Wars I watched was actually the 1997 Special Editions when they came out on VHS. A family friend had bought them on VHS and my dad borrowed them so that he could watch them again. When I first watched it, I wasnt particularly impressed. But then, years later, I watched the original theatrical cut on VHS, and saw why they were classics.

My fanaticism for Star Wars didn't really start until I read Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire, which, unsurprisingly, featured my favorite character of all time, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Coincidentally, this coincided with the release of the prequel trilogy. Say what you want about it (yes, it is bad...) but it did cause a huge surge in Star Wars awareness and merchandise to be released. A perfect storm of circumstances, and I was hooked. With all the books being released, and anticipation for the (then) new movies, it made me want to go back to the movies that started it all. From that point onward, I was playing catch up taking in everything I could. Pretty quickly, I was caught up and a real "expert" among my friends. And that hasn't really changed since then... haha

I was born in 1984 and first saw them when I was about 12 also, when they came back to theatres in the late 90s. I don't know why I never saw them sooner than that.

I purchased the Hessen Antique riding boots, and they are great.  I have a very long, very narrow foot, and they fit like a champ.  I will never wear my Russian officer boots again.

I also recommend a boot pull with handles to get riding boots on, and a boot puller or boot jack to get them off.  Type in the terms on Amazon, and you will find them.

The Hessen ones do sound like the best from what people have said but also a lot more expensive and although I don't necessarily mind spending that kind of money at some point, I felt it best to go with those ones I saw on e-bay as my first pair and by doing that I think I will know more what I am doing if I decide to upgrade at some point.

The ones I got on e-bay have inside pulls to get them on. I have never worn boots like this so it might take some getting used to. My only other boots that don't have zippers are my rain boots.

You can e.g. try imgur, it is a free platform to share pictures.

Okay I made an account just to upload this picture(I uploaded a few others too but it's really just this one I have to share I think). These aren't the right boots for my uniform but this is often how boots gape on my skinny legs.

As Sean said, yes they are men's size. And if you are on the thin side I'm afraid they won't fit.

Yes, show us a pic of the boots you have.

Sorry I must have missed where he said that.

I will attach what I have. I know these aren't accurate and they weren't bought for this purpose anyway but you will see that they have extra space because my calves are narrow. EDIT: File is too large for me to attach so I might have to figure out how to re-size it later.

Typically equestrian boots are made narrow and the same boot will be marketed for men and women. A few are specified as being wide. Before you spend several hundred dollars on custom boots check eBay for equestrian boots. I have found several pair on there for a lot less than it will cost you to buy new. You will have to wade through all the "man-made leather" boots that are somehow allowed to be sold as leather but you can typically tell which are which. Buy a size larger and get an insole. Equestrian boots are not the most comfortable thing you will wear but they can be made better with a good insert.

Being thin, you will have issues with most boots. I have skinny legs and have always had problems there. You can add padding around the inside, down far enough so it is not showing or just allow your pants to blouse out a bit (I emphasize a bit) so it covers any space between your leg and boots. That is what I do and you generally can't tell. Good luck.

I have just checked e-bay and I found these which seem the most accurate. It seems like there's a bit of a square shape on the outside in the first picture though. Do you see what I mean? Is that okay? It doesn't look very obvious.

I will have to measure stuff I have to confirm that these will fit me well enough but I don't want to go through all that hassle before knowing if these boots are accurate enough.

Thanks for the help everyone. Attached are pictures of a pair of boots I already own which aren't accurate but it shows how they gape. Not sure if these were even riding boots though. I bought them at a regular store and not for this purpose. EDIT: File is too large to attach so I might have to figure out how to fix that later.

Well you could try Hessen Boots, they are very expensive but as far as I know the best you can get.

    http://www.hessenantique.com/Riding_Boots_p/2116510.htm?1=1&CartID=1

Only thing is that I am not sure if they have the correct size for you.

And you will be charged some fees and customs. As you are from Canada you could ask Sean @DarthFunk83 he ordered a pair and I'm sure he can tell you something about it.

    Hope this helps a bit!

Are those men's sizes on there? Because if they're for men they could fit me weird. I do also have narrow feet and although I normally buy regular in shoes and not narrow(I only do that with sandals because they can fall off my feet otherwise) I don't know what I should do to get the best fit for these boots. I have never done measurements for a pair of shoes before and considering the price I really wouldn't want to do it wrong.

When I was getting measured for the main parts of the uniform(hat, tunic, and pants) the seamstress told me I am one of the thinnest people she has ever measured so I am not a normal size and so yeah I don't really know what to do with the boots either. I own a pair of black leather boots that I bought at a store years ago, not for any costume reasons. They have extra space in the calves. Maybe I should attach a picture of them to show what I mean?

Indeed. I bought a pair of boots from Hessen. They are great boots and are cleared to L3, but very expensive. Not only the boots themselves, but I got hit with a lot of import fees that pushed the cost of the boots to nearly $500 CAD.

Well at least it's good to know that they ship to Canada because not everything does. Import fees always seem random....I sometimes get charged and sometimes not. It almost always happens on more expensive items though.

Let's not overreact... You're not going to detained or shot for wearing one.  There are no laws against hats.  You might, however, attract unwanted attention, of the unfriendly sort, if someone thinks (incorrectly) about what you're doing and decides you need a lesson.

That's kind of scary. I don't have any parts of the uniform yet but yeah I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea and offend anyone.

I hope no one would physically come at me as I definitely can't fight someone off. I am only about 105 pounds.

I already sometimes worry about people thinking I am a white supremacist just because some of my relatives actually ARE white supremacists and I have the same surname as them(which also happens to be a Germanic name that isn't very common). Unfortunately to some people you're guilty by family relation. I don't agree with their views at all and sometimes argue with them(although doing so is pretty scary). Some people say I should just cut them out of my life but then I lose any small influence I have on them that is different from their extremist views. It's a weird spot to be in when it's family.

Anyway I agree with everything that has been said about why not to wear one for every day situations. If you did you would probably have to do something like stick a bunch of fan pins on it or something to make it look less serious and more like a fandom hat.

It's well written and a pretty good depiction of ... well , his life :P

I too think he was quite relatable . I've seen people complain that he's too whiny for a villain but when you look back at the movie and Catalyst , i wonder how people would feel if their moment of glory would be stolen by a douchy boss after having invested years of your life into a massive project , dealing with all the issues and setbacks yourself , and getting zero credit for it in the end :D

Thanks! :) Also yeah I think most people would be pretty upset and frustrated by that after all that they invested for literally years of their life. He sort of put all his eggs in one basket as the saying goes I guess. I sort of like how he yells and gets a bit more emotional because it makes him different from the other Imperial officer villains we have seen so far. From what I know about his character so far it seems he had a harder time getting to the rank and status he achieved because he didn't have as much privilege as some others.

I sort of sensed a bit of insecurity from him too. A part of me wonders if his cape is sort of like a statement that he's awesome and compensating for how he feels inside. Usually people feel more compelled to try to stand out from the others with demonstrations like that when they feel like they really need to prove themselves and like their social status means a lot to them. I think a part of him has always been a little more insecure and less confident than someone like Tarkin.

I really like that about Krennic though.

    58 minutes ago, nocternus said:

Got to admit thats why i love Tarkin :-D

I love them both actually and also find them both attractive which feels a bit weird sometimes given the dynamic between them that's kind of like a rivalry. I do prefer Krennic though as I feel that I relate to him more. I struggled more in the past with my own insecurity. I always felt like I wasn't good enough. Tarkin always seemed very confident although I haven't read the book on him yet but I bought it so I will learn more when I read that. I bought Catalyst too and am a bit more than 100 pages into it. I am a slow reader and actually don't read very many books but I wanted to learn more about them.

  15. I'm new and need to go through the process of getting my costume yet but I was thinking that this pose that I did in my Slytherin costume might work as a good pose for an Imperial officer? I imagine most of the guys here probably wouldn't pose like this (although I think it would be fine if they did, just that I imagine it wouldn't be something most would do) but I still want to have a bit of a feminine touch to some of the poses but still seem a bit intimidating at the same time? You know what I mean? That's what I was going for in this Slytherin pose...as they're often regarded as the more villainous house(in reality I am a Hufflepuff but dressing up as more of a villain is more fun).
