  1. I was at a Star Wars Reads event at a local library a few weekends ago. An elderly couple (slightly too young for either to have fought in the Second World War) happened in to check out some books and the lady saw me. Madame became alarmed and got her husband's attention. "There's a Nazi!" He glanced up and smiled. "That's not a Nazi!" he exclaimed. "That's a Star Wars character." So, props to monsieur. Also, at a recent Major League Baseball Star Wars Night event, I was told my an elderly usher that I reminded him of a young Nazi officer. I thanked him for saying that I looked young.

  2. A pretty cool thing happened to my daughter and me last Friday at the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Comic Con. While chatting with Clive Revill (original voice of Emperor Palpatine in The Empire Strikes Back), Julian Glover, CBE (General Veers) stepped into our chat. It turns out that, while they were not in any scenes together in ESB, Revill and Glover worked together in the 1950s for the Royal Shakespeare Company (we learned from Julian during this encounter that it was then called the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre) in Stratford-upon-Avon. Over the next fifteen or so minutes, they had a lovely reminiscence and included us as appropriate. It turns out they had not seen each other since their time at the SMT in 1959. My spawn and I were honored to be part of this reunion 58 years in the making. Thank you for including us, gentlemen.

That extra can also be seen in a scene with Tarkin too. He seems to be wearing a gray Fahrenheit 451 tunic, a black hat, black pants probably jodhpurs, riding boots and a belt with horizontal belt boxes. He has red and amber tiles on his rank but the correct number is difficult to tell. We will nerver know if he is really wearing a gray tunic or not.

    Excellent observation!

Agreed that he is probably wearing jodhpurs, as you can clearly see the riding boots a few frames after the one that you showed above. As to whether he is wearing gray, I think we can prove it. A few frames before your example, he is standing right next to Tarkin in the same light, and there is a clear contrast in color, with this officer's uniform shifted toward gray. Is it completely free of green? Maybe not. But there is a strong argument for gray.

    Just my spare change.
