  1. Making them seamless was probably the hardest part of my Kallus build and I want to re-do my leg guards eventually. I used a kit made by Dave Sack and modified with leg guards with ABS sheets. I filled the cracks with ABS paste and some plastic weld after a few failed attempts with other materials. It seems to be holding up so far and for photos looks good. The only tricky thing is having to slide them on before I can put my boots on but since Kallus doesn't need really tall boots I haven't had too much trouble. I think the EVA and vinyl idea would work well too, I debated doing something like that myself.

For the gloves a seam is fine, like @scottrooper said. I used thin EVA foam and used leather that matched the gloves I had. I used contact cement to glue the foam together. I then cut the leather in the same shape as the foam but with about 5/8 in seam allowance, sewed up the edge to make a tube and then pulled it over the foam before glueing down the edges. I have some progress shots in my build thread here:

Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

  2. Hey all, as many of you know I have been working hard for the past 6 months or so on my Agent Kallus build that was just approved. As I was working on it and checking the CRL I noticed that the CRL was updated to include his rank bar change from season 1 to season 2, but the collar insignia on the tunic was never updated to match. This did not cause any issues for my submission as I provided reference but I think it should be updated as it looks to have been an oversight as other parts of the CRL were updated to indicate his change in rank between seasons.

    Currently the CRL reads as:

      • The left of the collar is adorned with a solid white triangle, a red vertical line and a solid white circle, as per visual reference.

Which is consistent with his season one look:

For season 2-3 the insignia changes to appear as a solid white triangle, a solid white line, a solid gold/yellow line and a white dot. This version is seen consistently throughout seasons 2 and 3.

  3. So I'm in the process of building Agent Kallus to go with a Kanan build my partner is doing. I've got the armour kit and ordered a Bo-Rifle and currently I'm going between the plastic kit and fabric mock up. From what I understand, most Kallus builds have used the Cosplaysky uniform, but I like making my own. I know the CRL talks about the seam down the back but I'm not sure if other seams are present/acceptable? Looking at the character model and concept art there is only that back seam and seams where the contrasting are, but I am concerned about the fit without a seam down the sides. Can anyone elaborate or provide picture reference of their uniform?

  4. A quick update. As we've been building the costume itself, I've made it a project of mine to research the consistency of the uniform appearing throughout the game. Starting with a new character I'm documenting pretty much every Imperial officer I find. Also picked up as many references as we could - the official concept art book, SWtOR encyclopedia, and the SWtOR comic series. Hopefully that will be helpful. So far I've found about 3 variations of the officer uniform, some more or less similar to Quinn's. Once I have a record of each rank I find (according to the encyclopedia in SWtOR there are 8 army ranks and 8 navy ranks) I will post them as a reference for what sort of variations may be needed. I feel like I'm back in school, writing my dissertation on the variations of Old Republic era Imperial uniforms, but it's been a fun project thus far.

  5. Hi all, I've been enjoying reading through this thread and checking out all of the rank configurations so far. Talking about the EU, I'm currently in the process of building an SWtOR Imperial Officer uniform (specifically Captain Malavai Quinn - there is a build thread in the sewing room section of the forum). It was suggested in the CRL thread my partner and I created that we look into making it a generic SWtOR officer uniform and have variations for the differences between ranks. I've made this something of a personal project and have been (slowly) replaying through the game and screen capping all of the different ranks I encounter to compare. I'll be happy to share screenshots of the rank bars here once I get a few more.

  6. Hi all, wow lots of replies to this. As some of you may have seen on the progress thread for this outfit, I'm the one constructing and who will eventually be submitting the uniform. I am currently in the process of recording as many high-res screenshots from pretty much every angle I can think of to capture all the details. While reading through the replies in this thread, I think the idea to submit it as a more generic Sith Empire uniform is fine, it makes perfect sense to do so since it is a 'stock' outfit in the game and as said would make the CRL more useful in general. I've got a few questions as I start to think about the actual write up process, and I'm sure I'll think of more along the way.

Concerning references, I've also ordered the SWtOR official art book so if I find any thing good in there I will for sure include that in my notes. I'm not really sure where else to look for reference for the game though, possibly comics? I'll keep digging. Or if anyone knows of another source I will be happy to look into that as well. Possibly the other Old Republic era games?

If we are working from the generic uniform angle, would I need to write up the variations or is that something that would be done as a group? I was planning on making note of the variations of the uniforms Quinn himself wears in the game (first when he appears as a Lieutenant, then Captain, and the preview Bioware has released for the next update where he is allegedly now a major), so it would fall into that I think as these variations, like his default outfit, are seen on various NPCs. Obviously I am only going to build one actual costume but I am happy to do the research and help make a list of the differences in detail if need be.

If accepted, I would like to specifically be Quinn for trooping, would I need to do anything special with submission when we eventually get there? Or would we just submit it as Old Republic Imperial Officer and just be Quinn when in character? (I hope that makes sense I'm half awake typing this)

PS- Thanks for inviting us to the armor party, it was nice getting to meet some of you guys in person and start getting a feel for what we are getting into!
