Sweet. I want to do one up myself. But I'll have to find out who the characters are once I'm in game to make a good choice.

Me too, though these days it feels like every time I look at the CRL I come up with a list of 'ooh that'd be cool to make' ideas! :-)

  2. I've been mistaken for a Nazi on two occasions now: once by a child, ('the bad guys from Indiana Jones') and on one other occasion for a 'German'. Though on each occasion they have asked what I am as it's obviously absurd that anyone would be so dressed, and I've been with at least a TK. No aggression, though it has influenced my decision to go the Veers/AT-AT route to add some visual distance for at least part of each troop.

    Sent from a skittish MSE-6

  3. As others have already pointed out, CS is possibly the more cost-effective approvable option at the moment. The olive is very olive, but it's approvable. I've seen my own in photos range from green to greyish depending on the lighting!

Definitely over-provide measurements for the deluxe, and request a colour change to olive. I found too that the tunic was almost perfect (in fact didn't get any alterations to it), but the trousers will be in need of a little attention. Ultimately cost me about £20 to get the waist and calves taken in, £4 for a can of spray starch and about £1.50 for elastic and thread for stirrups! :-P

  4. There are, as I recall from a recent watch, a couple of different variations on uniforms that we don't seem to have CRLs for in that short 'elevator wait' scene. I distinctly noticed one with a different colour collar from the tunic, a couple wearing full length trousers with tunic (not black or the olive green of the other 'main' line officers) and shoes, and some others that escape me. It's a weird smorgasbord of bizarre blends of a scene.

  5. Very informative, it'll be useful for those considering where to buy from. It's often difficult after all to visualise from seller produced info, even where seller photos are used in isolation.

Might be useful for other resources too, if people have them to show? Not saying 'this is better than that' necessarily, but 'this is what these things look like, choose whichever you prefer'?

Right, and what if I'm trying to match a Cosplaysky (CS) material? when I asked them, they want me to pay $20 for a yard of material through their "color change" option.  Other than that, I know there are a TON of CS officer uniform discussions on here, but if I buy material. Do they offer the deluxe package in an Olive Gabardine if I do the color change option?

    So confused about that.

    Thanks

They'll do the olive colour change for the deluxe alright, you just request it in the notes/extra information field. I requested the extra cloth, too, but like Sean went with OSOS instead. Still good to have the cloth for all the cost of it, in case you DO need it for a hat, or to adjust the modesty panel, or whatever else! There was no extra charge to change the colour, just to get the cloth.  Until some brave soul tries otherwise, it's best to go down the confirmed route with them of ordering the deluxe, requesting an olive green colour change, and doing the custom measurements (unless you're confident in your local tailor!)

  7. Depending on where you are and how much you're willing to spend on delivery, Soldier of Fortune's Officer Boots might be worth a look:

I have a pair myself, they're built for a wider calf. Mine were taping out at a bit under 18" at the widest, and there's a comfortable amount of room in them.

I know it says 'jackboots' in the title, but I'm assured they're fully approvable - they're 17.5" tall and hit just under my knee (I'm 6'1")

  8. Christmas Day 1997, 9-year-old me got the Special Edition VHS tapes. I had been a fan of Star Trek The Next Generation and Red Dwarf, both of which were frequently shown on the BBC, so my parents probably thought it would suit me. I sat and eagerly watched all three films over the course of the day with my great Aunt (who must have the patience of a saint!), having to be pulled away to sit down to dinner!

From the moment Darth Vader appeared I knew I was an Empire fan! :-P Thought the Emperor was one of the best, most evil, villain I had ever seen - and I thought he was great! Was oddly heartbroken at the end of RotJ when the Empire lost of course!

From that point on all of my pocket money was saved for figures and vehicles, and video games.

I really need to get my hands on this....

In my (bitter...) experience the only way to make sure is to have at least two pre-orders in as early as possible at reputable places. They can sometimes be picked up later on eBay, but at (at least) 2x the price!

For example, I had the Black Series Revan reserved with both Forbidden Planet and Amazon. In the end Amazon let me down, but it came from FP.

FP however set the precedent by letting me down with the first run of Rey. That's why I reserve at least 2. One can be cancelled if needed, or if not sold on afterwards!

It's a poly blend. Rit is not going to work. You would need dye that is specific to synthetic fibers.

Is there any kind of dye which would or should reliably take without too much colour drift weirdness? Guessing it would be a professional job.

With Museum Replicas getting scarce (for example I can find decent-sized tunics but no jodhpurs!) and the Anovos Line Officer seemingly having fallen off the Earth entirely (and Clothears being awesome looking but pricey) it seems the only semi-realistic way of getting a similar looking costume colour! :-(
