I've been mistaken for a Nazi on two occasions now: once by a child, ('the bad guys from Indiana Jones') and on one other occasion for a 'German'. Though on each occasion they have asked what I am as it's obviously absurd that anyone would be so dressed, and I've been with at least a TK. No aggression, though it has influenced my decision to go the Veers/AT-AT route to add some visual distance for at least part of each troop.

Same here, tunic very good cut, trousers way too much material and wide. Mine would fall right down without any belt, despite correct measures.

Hopefully it does have a decent story element. Not a great fan of multiplayer shooters, but I'm a tremendous fan of anything Empire! I'm intrigued to see how things go after Endor in the new canon/direction/whatever.

Veers has a unique rank bar as you are aware, there is not standard as such the best thing To do is approximate what is seen on screen

Depending on where you are and how much you're willing to spend on delivery, Soldier of Fortune's Officer Boots might be worth a look:

I have a pair myself, they're built for a wider calf. Mine were taping out at a bit under 18" at the widest, and there's a comfortable amount of room in them.

I know it says 'jackboots' in the title, but I'm assured they're fully approvable - they're 17.5" tall and hit just under my knee (I'm 6'1")

I have attached a new message that I sent Declan. He's still fighting the good fight and has his bad & good days. I know that he would love to receive some encouraging messages. If anyone has the time it would be truly appreciated. Thank you to all that have done so already. –Sal

    Dear Declan,

I thought I would share some news with you. I am not sure if you know this, but when I was about your age all I wanted to be was a Tie Pilot. I ended up joining the Imperial Navy and became a Commander, which I absolutely loved. I was recently accepted into the Imperial Flight Academy to become a Tie pilot – it has been one of the most challenging things I have done but I have enjoyed every minute of it and have made some wonderful friends that have encouraged me through some really difficult times. I am pleased to say that I have received my flight wings and now I am a Tie Pilot Officer.

I have included a photo of me aboard my Star Destroyer Intrepid II, and you can see my friend Charles (I call him Chuck!) in the background, wearing his Tie Pilot gear. Did you notice the new Tie Fighters behind me?

I wanted to tell you that I have been thinking a lot of you lately – the bravery and courage you have shown has encouraged me to continue, even when things got really tough here in the Academy. Keep your chin up and keep aiming for the stars.

    Your friend,

    Commander Sal

CrashedATAT reacted to lantern2745 in Welcome to Ask an Advisor
Greetings Imperial Cadets!  If you are reading this, you have begun or will soon begin constructing one (or more) of the many IOC costumes within the 501st Legion.
The IOC Command Staff, and IOC Advisors are here to help you to be successful in this proccess.
To that end, this area will be for you, Cadet, to ask questions specific to your costume build, and have them answered by an Advisor.
Additionally, if you decide you would like to have one on one mentoring by an Advisor, this section will be here for you to make that request.

One question you may already have is, "What's an Advisor?".
An Advisor is a 501st member with an approved IOC costume appointed by IOC Command Staff to assist new members.

If you are more comfortable asking questions in a one to one setting, reply in the "Requesting an Advisor" section HERE using the format at the start of that thread.
Upon seeing your request, an Advisor will volunteer to work closely with you as you progress through your build.
Be aware that it may take a day or two for you to be paired with the right Advisor.

    As a note - When asking a question please do two things;
Make the title to your thread as short, yet detailed as you can.  Don't just title it, "Question" or "Does Anyone Know...".  If it's regarding boots, you could title it, "Will these boots work?" or "How do you care for boots?". Scan the titles of (or preferably read entire) threads that have come before you.  If someone is having or has had the same issue, you may save time (yours, ours, everyone's) by reading before posting.
Thank you for reading, and we look forward to helping you join the Imperial Officer Corps!

Because this got me thinking, this is my Officer mates back in March.
Source of uniform from Right to Left (aka, front to back):
    eBay China find
    Cosplaysky in Grey
    Cosplaysky in olive
    ANOVOS

So, theoretically, if you got the Cosplaysky you could darken it closer. However, it's more likely you'll end up with a grey unless you are adding green to the mix. It's not a guaranteed thing that the underneath colour would show through, so you'd really want to be careful about watching it. And then there's the "dry and wet colours aren't the same" thing too.

I dunno. It's possible, but even with my dye experience I'd rather dye from white or just buy different material and make rather than risk it.

Unless ofc you're willing to just dye it black if all goes pearshaped.

There are poly specific dyes. You may find others, but my personal favorite is iPoly Dye.

Having said that, dying is as much an art as a science. You'll likely have to do a lot of testing to get the right colour, so I wouldn't just jump into shoving a whole uniform in a dye bath. Especially if you're not starting with white as existing colour scan alter what you come out with. I think it highly unlikely you will be able to shift the colour from Cosplaysky to the right tone without also making it too dark as it's darker already.
