I saw this video yesterday, for those who follow adam savage with tested might have seen it already, not a gameplay video but the costume is just awesome

Man, I would kill to make a Messenger costume - would look awesome with my 6'2" height and a hidden hoverboard. Would also love to pull off a hologram effect.

  2. As a player of the first Battlefront on the PS4 who sunk over $120 for all the DLC, this really upsets me. I've sunk at least 40+ hours in the first game and am only rank 20 out of 60. I will admit, I am terrible at shooters but when your game does not lump players who are about the same rank together in multiplayer matches, it becomes impossible to rank up when every eight-year-old on Earth can kick your butt back to the Stone-Age, thus preventing you from gaining any experience. Paywalls are ridiculous. I'm looking forward to the single-player campaign way more than the multiplayer at this point. I suppose I should have learned my lesson at this point but you know...Star Wars.

  3. A word of warning when buying these kind of costumes through Amazon and not directly through the vendor's site - I bought the Cosplaysky Staff Officer costume through them on Amazon and not only was it wayyyyy too big (there was no option for custom tailoring) but returning it was a nightmare and a half. While I waited the couple of months before Amazon finished their investigation into my return and refund, I went directly to the Copslaysky website, got a costume made uniform, and got it all quickly and without any issues.

I have seen people open them and replace the clips with leather or other material that creates a complete loop.  That way the box doesn't come off the belt at all.

Interesting - I have the same Belt Boxes but mine have never popped off of my belt. A strap or loop does sound like a good way to make sure though that those suckers stay on for sure.

Also Funtasma boots are absolutely terrible. They are cheap Halloween boots that will fall apart after a few wears.

Actually, I not only got approved with the Funtasma boots, but I managed to get in tones of troops with them just fine. If you take care of them, they won't all apart and will serve you well until you can get better boots.

  6. So after several months of searching and finding the right boots, I finally found a good pair of riding boots. When I received them though, I found that they are lacking any sort of traction on the bottom. What is the recommended method for adding traction. Since these boots meet the level three requirement, is adding traction allowed?

  7. Thank you for sharing this. While neither my wife or I have ever served in the armed forces, we've had family who has and we bring this up every year around the 4th. While it's stressful for us having to comfort our scared pooch, we can only imagine what must go through the mind of a veteran such as yourself on the 4th. Thank you for your service and thanks again for bringing up this important and unfortunately often overlooked topic.

  8. I used some iron-on material that I placed on the inside of the flares. If you go this route, the material can be found at most fabric stores but be sure to buy plenty. Also make sure the material is flexible since you'll only want to reinforce the Jodhpurs. Once the material has been ironed in, you can steam clean the trousers just fine from there on out.

  9. This looks awesome! I'm currently doing something similar for my Staff Officer (though not as fancy) using foam inserts in Tupperware containers and putting those, my boots, my cap and my costume in a 25 gallon bin. I got mighty tired carrying around my backpack, boot and hat boxes and garment bag - now I can keep them all together in one safe place with minimal stress.

    Thanks for sharing this.

  10. Since I was born in 83, I was too young to catch even Jedi in theaters (although my folks jotted down on my baby calendar that they left me with grandma to go see it). I do recall watching it on network television one night and my mom showing me the photo from that week's issue of TV Guide of Leia lounging in her detention cell. I pulled out all my Star Wars action figures and acted out the whole movie as I watched it, turning the living room carpet into the barren wastes of Tatoonie and the couch into the Death Star trench.

When the Special Editions came out, I remember sitting in a small theater in Yorba Linda, preparing to watch Star Trek First Contact and seeing that amazing trailer - I practically leapt out of my seat with excitement. Seeing A New Hope in theaters a few months later for my birthday, not only did I finally get to see Star Wars on the big screen, but I was introduced to the world of Star Wars cosplay.

Fun fact - I remember being in Disneyland one night in the late 80s while they filmed a commercial for Star Tours with Anthony Daniels on set in full costume.

  11. They offer the black Officer cap and the Olive cap. I got approved with the black version of the cap. The caps I found have the proper code-disc with the proper notch cut out of the last disc. The hat can get a little wrinkly since it's not made of stiffer material but for me it works just fine.
