There is no changing room. The venue has bars, a restaurant and is one of the city's largest indoor gardens.

The theme is the Empire at cocktails. While an IOC costume is not required, you'll probably look out of place in armor. Most will be in Officer uniforms. My spouse is Rebel Legion and so he's made a Senator.

    Thanks for the answers!

And indeed, I don't think armor fits. That's why I was talking about the version on the end  right (the one that looks like a butler). I didn't noticed that the picture I used had the armor version in the forefront. My bad!

Anyway I will try to get my officer to London, and only if it doesn't fit I'll get the Aldani-butler version.

Thanks again for all the job in organizing this!

  3. Hi!

So this will be a first time for me, and I have some doubts regarding the event. I have read the FB group and this thread looking for answers, but since I didn't come to complete answers, I'm asking just to be sure.

First: Do we have to come to the event already changed and in full uniform or do we change there?

Second: I've seen in the discussions that the unfirms should be in line with IOC previous events. My question would be, costumes associated with IOC but not part of the detachment, could be used? To clarify, I'm trying to get ready this Aldani trooper version for celebration  (the soldier butler version),

I don't know if it will fit or not for this event. And if it might create problems as it is not an IOC costume. So if not suitable I can totally take my line officer instead.

Thanks in advance for any clarification, and thanks for organizing all this!

Sorry if it’s the wrong thread to post, but I think the troopers with one stripe are a lance corporal. When the pilgrims show up the trooper with the white stripe is referred to as corporal, and in the previous episode he’s seen with one stripe on his tunic.

Thank you very much! This makes much sense indeed. I will modified then to this classification:

    • Army trooper- Soldier, lance corporal (1 stripe) and corporal (2 stripes). Also there is a kind of "butler" version that we see.
    • Army trooper with armor- Soldier, and lance corporal (1 stripe)
    • Army trooper with armor and helmet-Soldier

    ,,,

Thanks Rob for sharing these pictures! ;-) It is good to confirm that is a dyed denim. That confirms the fabric we chose here in France with our tailor is matching this aspect. Then for the color I see some differences (us more green than the ones in the picture). But here I guess we'll be having the same problem as with the Line Officers: army troopers with a variety of green tones depending on the builder.

  6. Hello to everyone!

So from our side ( @Bubuc44and I) we have decided to go with this material: https://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/14862-imperial-army-trooper-andor/&do=findComment&comment=185288

The material was the recommendation from our tailor. Also our tailor has made these sketches about the possible layout of the vest and the pants. What do you think about it?

Vest: In this aspect we are pretty sure about it, with the add that pockets on the bottom go all the way down.

    DF9MvVF.jpg 5TdOWjP.jpg

Pants: This are more complicated. We don't know if there are horizontal sewing lines in the pant or no...

    5Tuj7zP.jpg

In some scene like this one, it seems we can see them (be aware of SPOILERS in this picture)-https://photos.app.goo.gl/dMKH4mvRaqYJydPf6

Also, we can already say that the Helmets, specially the flap on the back, are very different in their heights depending on which one is wearing it. You can see an example here (be aware of SPOILERS in this picture)-https://photos.app.goo.gl/MtcokyQ843GXkNYk8

Finally, for the different variants of the Army trooper, that then we'll need to group for CRL, we have:

    • Army trooper- Soldier, Corporal and something between soldier and corporal. Also there is a kind of "butler" version that we se here (warning of SPOILERS in this picture) and the corporal version with headsets.
    • Army trooper with armor- Soldier, and leader (not sure about what is the grade)
    • Army trooper with armor and helmet-Soldier

Anyway, let me know what you think. On our side we'll be talking with our tailor to rty to short out a final scheme for the vest and pants.

does it mean that in order to create properly the CRL I have to take contact with the spec ops detachment ?

The IOC is helping us. We can try to get help from special ops also. But for the time being the discussions in Special Ops is more about the creation of an Army Detachment. The same kind of discussion we are having in Legion Council. Or at least I didn't found the topic for building up the army trooper from Andor (if I missed it, my apologies).

Here we have a thread with at least 3 people interested in doing the army trooper. I have talked with a friend from the Spanish Garrison and IOC, that is also interested. My view is that we should coordinate and help ourselves the best we can over here, and then once we start to build things in the future, we can start to discuss about who will support us for the CRL. Maybe opening up a thread in the central forum will help also to gather more people. Or getting one thread open at Special Ops to coordinate also over there. I don't know. But honestly, for the time being and since I'm more used to this forum, I will remain here.

For the time being, and with ZERO experience in doing a new CRL, I will say that the list to get the build going is:

    1. Find a suitable close enough fabric
    2. Get enough references to lay out the scheme of the uniform->Propose the schematics for discussion
    3. Get enough references for the accessories of the uniform->Propose accessories
    4. Get enough references for the armor uniform->Propose armor

Also thanks a lot to @Fraserab for your help. It is just amazing for me to have the possibility of having someone like you helping us out.

@Bubuc44 we'll keep talking about the fabric with Angelica, since I believe the first option she showed us might work.

On my part I'll try to get more screen references and put them in a folder I can share with you all.

EDIT: Here a google picture album to share a few references I have been tacking out from IOC threads and scrennshots.->https://photos.app.goo.gl/mTTxFfWFk8ucffj48

Thanks a lot for all your help here.

  8. Hi!

I'm also interested in doing the army trooper. And I'm right now talking with a friend from my garrison (he still needs to demand access to the IOC forum) that is also interested. So probably 2 more candidates over here. Thanks for opening this thread!

About what you said here, I agree.

What we can do ist start discussing materials and pattern of the uniform. Material seems to be a standard heavy fabric, but NOT the Ripstop material used in most "of the shelve" BDUs. More like Moleskin, a kind of heavy cotton.

Tunic pattern seems to be similar to the standard BDU, but with some additional seams on the back and pockets on the upper arm. Pants also BDU-style, but without the Cargo Pockets. Okay, hard to explain without pics, i will add them in a few days to avoid spoilers.

Boots are the same Jack Boots (Knobelbecher) used in SOO many other costumes. Hat is a standard Officers Cap. Belt also standard Officer Belt.

Short black leather gloves are worn.

In some frames 1 or 2 black "Rankbands" are worn on the left shoulder. The Soldier with two bands is adressed as "Corporal", so i assume one band is a "Private 1st Class"

I will add the headphones for "corporal Kinzi", which seems kind of air plane headset or similar.

And the weapon, which is similar to the mudtrooper e10, right?

With my friend right now we are looking to find the right material and color. We'll keep you posted with what we find out.

I am actually located in the US. I know in 2019 someone talked about creating a crl for her. Is this person building it now?

I have asked them on my Garrison forum (it was a member and his wife who were willing to do this). Because I know they were willing to do one, but the difficult of doing the CRL was a main burden for them. So I don't know if they abandoned the project or no. Either way I have prevent them about this thread. And I'll suggest them to contact you if they are indeed building one right now.

What I can tell you, and it was clear for them, is that the Thrawn rebels CRL was the base for Sloane.

  10. Nice, following this one with great interest. Also I don't know if you are from the French Garrison (and thus the same person I'm mentioning right ahead), but in our forum we had one person interested in doing this uniform ;)

As an Imperial Officer you should act in character wherever the situation presents itself. And that is the key. It entirely depends on the situation.
    ...
As open faced costumes we are the voice of the squad we are with, so think about that as well.

For me these are the two main guidelines: Situation and faced costume/first interaction.

Then you will always have to main components: Body language and talking with people.

    • Body language: for me it should always express confidence and leadership. Except maybe if the emperor or Lord Vader are near you. Here depending on the situation you can play that role of nervous officer with their "bosses" ( For example, I always love to touch my neck and express a kind of relief, once Vader passes by me in any troop). But by general rule, you will be the first one to go in front of the troopers, you will be the one directing people, etc. Doing this with your back straight, head up is a nice touch. Also, in my garrison officers are also critical since as face characters we are taking care of the troopers that can't see too well with their helmets. So specially in closed environments our role of "direct" our colleges is not only to get us in character, but also it has practical reasons.
    • Talking with people: As a Spanish guy living in France, my accent and "broken" French is a theme of conversation (a usual, "lord Vader has re-assign me in here" "some people get assigned to Coruscant, I was assigned to Paris" is a classic starter). So apart from the classic "rebel warnings/imperial propaganda and patrolling stuff" I trend to use things from my life to incorporate them into my imperial officer stuff and adapt it to the situation. Apart from my accent, another example of this was with one group of kids, we were talking and there was one who wasn't very receptive. I found out he liked boxing (and I practice boxing in real life). So we started talking about boxing and how I had learned it through the imperial academy. So the kid started to interact with us. Also another theme of conversation that usually works is to "present" your fellow troopers (Explaining, this is a TIE fighter pilot, this a stormtrooper, their work is to do this, bla bla...), In general terms, since we are the faced characters, most of the people will start to interact with our troops through us. So for me talking with people is the first step to have this interaction. Some times they are afraid, or they are shy, or they don't know very well how to interact with you. As line officer, I just talk with people to breach that initial gap. And then it is always fun to see them how they enter in the game once you stay in character.

In summary I believe that the key facts are: Situation and  first/main troopers to interact with people.

For the situation, experience in different types of events will get you better in knowing what works, and what doesn't. So you will be getting this with the past of time.

For the first/main interaction or lead role with the troops I think that we have it really easy. As our characters are usually leading the interactions of troopers and people in SW. So it is a win, win situation. If you stay in character, you will fulfill this role. On a personal level I like to incorporate things from real life whenever I see it could be useful. And body language is also important to stay in character.

    And of course ALWAYS:

Well, I hope this helps ;-)

  12. Wow, definitely you should have one rank bar for you. It is really like you!!

I bought the same set for may the 4th too!! My main intention was to get the officer mini figure. But turns out the kind of "speeder bike" is also nice at the end. Here is a picture of the set I took, for people interested in getting one.QcGPuZM.jpg

  13. For me, I´ve always was impressed with imperial officers since I watched ANH and especially ESB. I remember, as a child that while stormtroopers or pilots were in first line battle, officers were for me the ones in the true front line: VADER rage and anger. Someone that can live with the constant threat of being force chocked was by far more impressive for me, as a child than any pilot or stormtrooper. And since then, I´ve always wanted to be a line officer. So for me, it was clear, my first 501 uniform has to be a line officer!! And currently, I´m on my way...Also, kick ass uniform and motto: "Honor, Durty, Empire"
