Hey y'all!
Fellow IOC member @Marietta posted a fantastic SW fanart back in April about Imperial officers trying to get a snapchat with Vader in the background without him noticing, and whoever got closest, won. Here's a link to her instagram post.
My friends and I found it, not knowing she was a fellow 501st member at the time, and decided to do it for ourselves at troops. We've been doing it for a few months now, and we thought it'd be fun to get other members to do it too!

Seriously though, I've STRUGGLED with a lot of StarWars lit in the past. I really want to choke my way through Aftermath because of obvious ginger reasons, however thin on the ground they are, but its just such a bloody chew to read? It's so clunky? Thrawn just read like an absolute DREAM with minimal "you must be this much Star Wars to ride".
I need to get off my ass and finish the Heir trilogy... I'm super hyped for Alliance though and really jealous that you'll all get fancy B&N hardback covers as usual. :CI don't know what you're talking about, I've clearly never cared about Ensign Vanto once in my life.
But yeah, I've heard that about Aftermath. Admittedly, I haven't read a ton of the new canon, but I grew up reading the EU. I thought Thrawn did a really good job of that though, with enough references to make the older fans happy but a new enough story to be able to stand alone also. Going out to the Unknown Regions in the new canon will be interesting though since there won't be anything to contradict whatever Zahn wants to write.
...if we get the flashback of Thrawn meeting Anakin, there's a possibility of Obi-Wan content. Or Ahsoka!!

That's my hope!! But yeah I agree, with just the Chimaera, it'd be a great excuse to bring in the CEDF. Just like,,, imagine Thrawn trying to contact the CEDF and getting Eli just by coincidence. (Coincidence? Or the Force™?)
I wonder if we'll get any mentions of Pellaeon since he was mentioned in the S4 finale... although he's probably on one of the other ships in the fleet, a boy can dream lol.
As much as I love the old canon for Thrawn, I'm really enjoying the new canon, and I am STOKED for this book.

Atollon is the planet with the Bendu in Season 3, which I assume is the creature that's mentioned. That said, it sounds like this'll have to be after the S3 finale, and obviously before the end of Rebels. Batuu hasn't been explored yet, but it is an Outer Rim planet that the new Galaxy's Edge park is supposedly going to be based on.
I'm really excited at the prospect of the Thrawn - Anakin encounter in flashbacks, as well as them going out towards the Unknown Regions!
All I want is Eli to be mentioned at least one (1) time honestly.

This was my biggest takeaway, uniform-wise. I'm a little disappointed at the choice, but what can you do.
All in all, I enjoyed it fine. I think they did a good job simplifying the story enough to fit in such a short comic so far.
My favorite part is definitely Eli's note at the beginning though.

Assuming he's born in 1 BBY - 0 ABY that only makes him 5 years older than Kylo. But even so, I'd hope he wasn't at the school, considering what happens lol.
I think the possibility of him having grown up with Poe though is likely, Poe was born in 2 ABY and Shara Bey was also at the Battle of Endor, so she may have known Hera.
I really hope we get some canon info about what happens with Ahsoka between "A World Between Worlds" and the epilogue.

I especially liked it because they gave her an option, and she chose to go down with her ship. I thought it was very true to character, and the best way for her to go out, given the circumstances.

I agree with the above also - the cadet helmets are pretty rad in my opinion, but should definitely be an optional accessory based on the newer references.

I think The Flagship Eclipse might be a good option too, as a DZ. I think IOC might be a stretch since he's not affiliated with the Empire at that point. But I'd also be very excited to see a WIP, regardless!

The single blue rank tile for Eli is super interesting, I agree that I think it's for Cadet but I'm curious to see what they use for Ensign! I was originally going to do a crewman and switch to officer after reading Thrawn because I liked Eli so much tbh, so I'd like to match his Ensign rank bar.
I am also very pleased they left Thrawn in his green uniform, it clashes just as badly as I imagined when I read the book lol.
Also, re: Armada, the Chimaera expansion is absolutely gorgeous, they put a lot of effort into the details.

Had a blast trooping with Star Garrison this weekend, and of course had to get a #vaderchallenge pic
