So, as a follow up -- it looks like none of the level 3 approvable boots would work with arrival time before when I want them, so I'm looking at "stop gap" type of boot that will work in the interim for level 1.
With that in mind, would these meet the level 1 requirements?
They have a zipper, but it is on the inside, and they are faux leather. Thoughts?

Bah, that's what I was afraid of. Any other places other than hessin that have good dress boots? I'm not worried about price, but the listing for riding boots only goes up to size 12.

They are listed as Jack Boots, which from what I can see is supposed to be for the enlisted and not the line officer. But, visually I'm not seeing a difference between these boots and the boots that meet the line officer criteria.
My biggest issue I'm having is finding a size 13 (US) fit, and they have that in stock for these.
Thoughts?

economies of scale. People have been privately been doing bolt runs for a number of years in different countries. Enough people come together and they order a bolt of fabric they specify. Strangely nothing to my knowledge has been organized on these boards. But if someone was having made some screen accurate fabric, you would think people would jump on that. Even if they wouldn't have it turned into a uniform for a year or two.
I know I would, but we're hoping to get it completed before Mid-January, when we do a star wars day at sea sailing on a Disney Cruise... which puts a limit on how much we can jump on something like that.

the answer for this is bolt runs. We DO have the people to do this for the different detachments. We do have some people here that are pretty good with fabrics, they just don't go through the forums. We had some people that had degrees in fabrics. Not sure if we can get them back to help out with that though.
But as I said, hoping to get that all changed in the next few months.Out of curiosity, is there something specific that is in the works that you are hoping solves it, or is it more just a general hoping that things get better?

Wife and I are looking for Olive Green Gabardine, but so far we haven't been able to find anywhere that sells medium weight wool.
Any suggestions on where we could source it? -

Stephen,
You need to look for a medium weight suiting material with a garbadine style weave. Sence youre going line the tricky part for you will be finding the right shade of green. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Good luck!
Matt
With that in mind -- Are there any suggestions for places to get swatches from and/or places that reliably provide the correct colour? I'd ask for color codes, but I know enough about dying to know that that doesn't really apply to fabric :).

My wife is making the Coat / Pants for my Line Officer uniform, and we are trying to figure out what materials to use -- is there any recommended type of material? Initial thought is wool, but I'm concerned it might get too hot in the summer.
Do these boots work for Line Officer?

Thanks for the help, and the warning. I went with soviet boots for the time being. I'm up in the air between hessen and magnoli, but assuming everything with the rest of the uniform works out I'll go for my level 1 certification, and get the high end boots when its time to upgrade.
Thanks!
