  1. Nicholas "nickgillam" Gillam, requesting adviser in the Bowling Green, KY area.

Looking for an adviser to look over my "completed" staff officer uniform. I believe I have everything in check for my Level 1 approval, and I also think I am very close to a Level 2 approval that I'd like someone to go over with me to see if I am indeed close to it.

Yes. They don't move on their own, they move relative to one another.

This is what I've been doing:

And yeah, I may try cardstock. Or what @DarthFunk83 suggested.

Ahh, that's what I've been doing as well. I got a third one that fit snugly in between those two, and has minimal movement to it. I'm sure if I put a bit of cardstock on it, it'd be very secure. The level 2 certification bars are a bit tricky, but they look significantly better. I enjoyed my level 1 solid bar a lot, but the 2 bars are so much better looking.

  3. Is that one of Interstait's bars? If so the magnets are really strong and shouldn't move around hardly, unless you're doing something that involves your chest moving a ton. That being said, I don't like how small the magnets were, and I suggest removing them and replacing them with longer and slightly wider ones. You also mentioned the cardboard thing (which I happened to do too in NJROTC years ago), if you want to go that route, I might suggest that you get some cardstock (since cardboard is probably too thick) and fold it over a few times, and that might help. It's also a bit more movable than cardboard, so it would probably look more natural as well.

I noticed in the promotional pictures he has 4 red, 4 blue (General), then on most maps he's 2 red, 2 blue (Lieutenant), but you're right - on the Death Star he gets promoted to Captain with 3 red over 3 blue. It's a subtle difference and I don't know why. Maybe he was supposed to have a side story line?

I probably think that they got lazy and reused the officers design from the campaign.

  5. I've been playing TOR again recently (played since 2014, not joking when I say I have many hundreds of hours on the game), and I also thought how cool it would be to implement many of the costumes into the 501st! I have definitely always been keenly interested in doing a Dread Master cosplay, but the cost for making that costume, especially the helmets, would be insane. Sith Imperial Officers would be hard to do, mainly for the fact the rank system of officers is all over the place, such that is makes what we have look organized.

  6. Grand Admirals/Moffs for sure don't wear them. For all other ranks I do believe they are required. Though I suppose if you are cosplaying as Yularen or Motti for example, they aren't required, since they did not have hats in ANH.

Dr. Freud would be delighted to have you on his couch ;) but we all shared this fear once, I'm sure these dreams will go away as soon as you have the right boots.

It's just really strange onto why I'm fearing getting the wrong boots. The only thing I could think of is getting them, and they ended up not meeting reqs or being too small/large, and the seller would say "no refunds" or whatnot. The no refunds thing pretty much is non existent in this day of age though, and I know this, but I don't know why my dreams are subliminally telling me to be afraid of it. I guess the only cure would be to get them...

  8. For the third time this past month, for whatever reason, I've been having these really weird dreams about me having trouble finding boots for my builds. And the weird thing about it is I keep going back to the same place, and the owner of the store doesn't have ones that meet the requirements, and was aggressively trying to sell me ones that looks exactly like them, but have laces on the front, saying that these will work. This would always lead into being chased around a Walmart (which I guess the store was magically inside it) and ending in a Star Wars type of battle getting shot at. Kind of strange, but maybe I have an internal fear of not getting the right boots?

Not going to say any specifics in this comment, just to keep it spoiler free, but there were definitely some scenes this time round that I enjoyed more the second time. There are still some things that continue to bother me, and that prevents it from being really great, but at least I could enjoy the movie a bit more

That's good. I didn't somewhat enjoy Return of the Jedi until I saw it a few times over, so I'm still giving it some hope. I probably didn't enjoy it as much since it was a big let down after how good TFA wasa.

I liked scenes of the movie but not the movie itself. My 17 yo daughter had the same impression so if they are trying to get a new generation of Star Wars fans, they will need to improve to get her vote!

We will be going two more times before Christmas (once for IMAX, once for 3d) to see if we feel any different!

The only scene that was somewhat decent to me was the one that Kylo and Rey were both in. It wasn't bad, but could've been better.
