[Seamless armour question.]

Hey all, not sure if this is the right place, but I am getting ready to start my Kallus build and I'm going to start with the shin armour then the gauntlets. I'm thinking of heat moulding some EVA foam and then (as Scottrooper suggested) covering the foam in vinyl, to give it a smooth, metallic finish. 

 

My main concern is how I am going to get the armour to close and look seamless, particularly the shin armor. My first guess is some small magnets at the joins, as magnets are magic. But that is a guess at best. Any advice is welcome!
