I know others have attempted this before, but as I dug through the forums, I just got more and more confused. So, I bought the McCall's M4745 pattern, and with some help from my seamstress sister, I started documenting some easily reproducible steps to convert that pattern into a screen-accurate officer tunic. And, since I'm a software engineer, I put it all on GitHub Pages, with nice animated diagrams showing exactly what to do.

    Here are the tunic instructions:
    http://lellimecnar.com/costuming/imperial-officer/tunic-pattern

I also dug through the CRLs, and put this page together: http://lellimecnar.com/costuming/imperial-officer/reference I'd like to make sure it's as accurate as possible, so I welcome feedback on that as well.

Once I get the pattern right, I'm going to put the actual instructions for sewing the thing here: http://lellimecnar.com/costuming/imperial-officer

I've never actually done this before, and I haven't done much sewing, so I started by making it in muslin. It looks accurate to me, but I think I'm ready to share it with the community here, and get some feedback from those who know what they're doing.

This is all very much a work in progress, but I'm hoping for some feedback before I start cutting any actual fabric... And hopefully it will be helpful to the next guy who comes along looking to get started.

Oh, the weight loss was intentional... I was over 300 lbs two years ago, and now I'm 185.

The problem is, I don't even know what specific questions to ask. I just want to know what problems people ran into with allowing this pattern, and how I can make it approvable.

I haven't been able to work on this at all since the my last post. I was hoping to get some further input from someone who's done it already, but I haven't had any luck with that...

Also, I've lost a significant amount of weight over the last year, and I haven't really wanted to work on a costume that isn't even gonna fit me anymore, but I don't want to ditch all the work I've put into it either...

So, that's where I am with the project: Still looking for input, and unsure how to continue.
