Not going to get into a philosophical debate here, but I'd point out that if you've played SWTOR, or are familiar with the EU (even though Disney de-canonized it), and other non-movie sources, the Rebellion did some pretty awful (evil) stuff themselves during the millennia of conflict against the Empire and its various incarnations.

I did my first Troop with MWG back on a hot July day for what was affectionately called the "Death March" by my Garrison - a 4th of July parade in Bartlett, IL. We had a fairly large turnout - approximately 30 of us - with Darth Vader and Imperial Officers, Bridge Crew, and Reserve Pilots escorting him, and the Stormtroopers bringing up the rear. Somewhere along the parade route, one of the parents was pointing us out to his kids and called Vader's escorts his "minions". I thought that was pretty amusing, or perhaps it was the baking heat in an all-black costume that was making me a bit giddy.
 
I'd therefore like to propose that we add a caption of "minions" to all IOC costumes in the CRL.  (just kidding, of course)

While promoting the premier for TLJ, I was attending as my Line officer and a colleague was dressed as Staff officer.
As we're standing in the hallway leading to the cinema halls, I hear two youths pointing at us and one of them saying: "There they are, the police." On the same evening, I also overheard a guy pointing at one of our TK's E-11 and saying to his friend/girlfriend: "Look. Thats an AK-47." I just rolled my eyes and realised he was REALLY trying to impress her.
 
At the premier for Solo, we were in another cinema and as it was late spring/early summer it was amazing weather outside. So me, and the same colleague as before, decide to step outside to do some better promoting, one of the first who sees us is a woman in her 60's or so. She looks at us and her face just grows more and more concerned and as they pass by, I overhear her saying to her company: ".....yes but I am just wondering what THEY are doing there?". She must have thought us to be some kind of actual police/authority force that was conducting a raid on the cinema building or similiar

What about the "diving into the bridge operations pit like an A-Wing just flew through the window" action pose?

Goofing around with the Rebel Legion at a pediatric charity event for Team Abigail at Faster Fitness in Huntington Beach, California on St. Patricks Day, 2018. Vader would not stop saying "I have you now..."

Lets see... since as an Admiral I also double as an Imperial Support Crew (handler) for our bucketed friends. When with Vader and it's time for a break, I walk away, come back 2 min later... "Lord Vader, the Emperor commands you to make contact with him..."

To children: "Do you like school? The Emperor needs smart cadets. Do you want to fly tie fighters? Or storm rebel bases as a storm trooper? Or crush rebellion will driving AT-ATs? Or would you rather command all of that and more as an Imperial Officer?"

When one of our Mandelorean Mercs comes by, "Bounty hunters, we don't need their scum. Those rebels won't escape us."

Other misc phrases:
We have a visitor.

Good. Our first catch of the day.

Track them! They may come round for another pass.

Alert Command. Deploy the fleet.

We have thousands of probes searching the Galaxy.

Take this... thing, to the detention block.

I have a good crew, a bunch of rowdy TKs, and a Vader with a quick wit, so impromptu happens with ease.

Usually we have a lockable or out-of-the-way changing room that we leave our gear in. On the rare occasion where we don't, I try to leave anything especially sensitive in the car. Belt boxes would certainly have been useful, but I'm ESB too! Our Jedi lord it over us, wandering about with their belt pouches full of goodies... 

I tuck my phone under my pants belt.  That's about all I can carry though.  I know someone else who was sewing pockets on the inside of the tunic, in between the snaps.

I usually keep my phone in my shorts pocket under my jodhpurs or I carry a small, black pouch on the back of my belt for cards, coins, my phone, and the like. 

That's actually a great question. I have a thin pouch that I use to store my credit card, some money, trading cards and challenge coin. I have a second pouch on the back for my phone. And if I don't have either pouch, I have my fiance lol 

I keep telling people this when you get the old familiar Nazi nonsense brought up!!

I find this difficult as well. So long as there are un-costumed handlers at the event, your responsibilities are only supplemental to theirs. Liaising with the crowd feels like the right thing to do, but I struggle to maintain the right demeanor. Scowling would probably be more in character, but I feel unapproachable when I do it. Often I can't help breaking into a smile. I'm genuinely thrilled to be doing this, and the enthusiasm at events is infectious.
 
Anyhow, I'm still very much figuring this out for myself as well, but I'd recommend just behaving in whatever way feels most natural for you. Don't give yourself a hard time. If you're more of an introvert, then just focus on looking good in photos, and let the handlers take care of the crowd.

Ah, another thing to do is to let people in rebel or Jedi shirts to know about "the emperor's seditious clothing act of 1977." ( Or of '77.)And by wearing seditious clothing , that they are in fact breaking imperial law. Which is punishable by five years of hard labor in the emperor's work camps. And you can make up some kind of job they would do. Like washing tuskens, shaving wookies, or the ubiquitous cleaning of the ewok cages at the local imperial zoo.

I’ve actually been called a Rebel spy. So, does that mean I have to fax all this intel to Mon Mothma?
