And Grand Admiral Sloane? She has been featured in official Lucasfilm artwork in the same cut uniform as the animate Thrawn.  Wouldn’t that allow for a generic? 

She is not generic she is a named character, But I'm sure You can costume as her if you require Robert, I must confess I have not seen this artwork you speak of, Do you have any examples?

You all make good points. Like any new to the legion costume, it just needs sufficient visual reference to distinguish what may be categorized generic, or character-specific standards, and then of course, someone to "be" the costume.   

I have to respectfully disagree that there isn't enough to go on.
The Barnes and Noble poster is very stylized, but I believe that it conveys the idea that there were other Grand Admirals out there - not just Thrawn or Sloane.
If there were others out there, it should be fair game.
On a related note; The legends generic GA was approved way before my time here, but what was the basis for it?
 

The discussion of a "generic Grand Admiral" based on the Rebels Thrawn uniform has been kicking around for a while now, on and off. The main problem, as BJ brought up, is the lack of visual references. We can discuss what "logically" should be, based on the existence of other GAs, etc., but ultimately it comes down to visuals. As Bob mentioned above, there is Grand Admiral Sloane, and there is a Barnes and Noble poster showing her in a white uniform (see below). But carefully look at that artwork. Its not EXACTLY the same as Rebels Thrawn. The collar, first is not square, but more importantly, doesnt have the collar insignia that Thrawn has. Secondly, she doesnt wear code cylinders, whereas Thrawn wears 4. The rank bar is also different; Sloane has square corners, whereas Rebels Thrawn has rounded corners. Is this artistic license? Is this actually how she looks? Who knows. This poster is also clearly a "propaganda" piece, so its hard to say what she "actually looks like"... This is why we can't just take Rebels Thrawn, cut out the Chiss part, and make a generic GA CRL
 

I can't really speculate on that because I'm not your GML, that's something to run by them.

To be quite honest, I think that stipulation exists on both CRLs because people can't tell the difference between leg armor and how feet are animated, lol. Your idea definitely sounds like it would work though, and shouldn't be too difficult to accomplish.

Rebels Thrawn is definitely a flat-topped boot, those would work for legends.

Mine are WWII Soviet officers boots, I use them for all my imperials. I got them on Etsy, there's a Ukrainian based shop you'll find there with great prices on German and Soviet boots. Or Sovietboots.com,but they're more expensive and their options vary. Since he doesn't actually have any stipulation on stitching, it shouldn't be too hard to find a flat topped, slightly-heeled boot.

I suppose others may interpret thrawn character differently which naturally is going to be the primary issue with this logic but out of all the sources that tell us about who Thrawn is he definitely isn't one to wear a non military issue uniform nor wear a uniform that is personalized(outside of military regulations). That being said I understand that unfortunately is ultimately just a matter of opionion given there isn't anything the directly states this about him and there lies the rub.
