  1. One of my fellow legion friends had a spare unapproved uniform lying around... he passed it on to me, so I tried it on... it appears to be too gray and I don’t know if I’ll be able to approve it being so off color...

but I need to iron my hats, pin on rank, and code cylinders.

    I think it’s a Cosplaysky product.

The black pants and hat are just for humor.

I've had a look at the original post of this thread to see the cover art you mention here, in your original post you also stated there are clear front back and side views of the uniform type you are intending to make.

Would it be possible to have these images specifically (and the issues of the comics they appear in) to get a clear idea of what you're looking to make? Suggestions in here are being made for a new CRL regarding the ISB style closure but from the sounds, it does not appear to be the one you're looking to make?

Exactly! Yes, I have the issues and the images are posted on page 1 of my original post.

Lol. I didn’t expect this to get this much attention, wow!

somehow we got sidetracked about the Moffs and colorist issues. That’s cool, lots of good information to help me fight my case for the high yoke.

My argument is that id like to appear as the cover art, so I emulate the character when holding the book next to me.

Im not concerned about the ISB tunic, as clearly there are discrepancies within the entire series, concerning rank, artistry, uniform continuity.

Any images used within the book are intended to emphasize the of lack of additional characteristics defining Thrawn’s uniform from any other uniform therein. My main focus will be continuity of cover art as it is most detailed art which depicts the high yoke, not the ISB tunic.

  3. Like I said, I appreciate all the Information. I’m already well on the way to creating the uniform pictured in the cover art, as I perfer the realism of the cover art as opposed to the angular appearance of the hastily drawn frames.

As Hask has stated, some things are illustrated incorrectly. I agree. There is oversight by Disney, but at the same time, not everything is meticulously scrutinized, and some details are simply passed without a second glance.

Its ts all based on where the artist wants the focal point of the frame.

True. It would be possible to get cleared with a Line officer, then do the makeup for Lt. Thrawn. However, Ill just add a caveat to this. Generally, out of respect to the Garrison, its a good idea to inform both your GCO and GEC that you'll be "Lt. Thrawn", just to make sure that its okay for you to do that. Also, for official, canon troops, Lt Thrawn would likely not be allowed to be trooped in.

This could warrant discussion. I will say that, for once, the comic does seem to be consistent (woot!!), so that definitely helps. The one panel Anthony showed above seems to be an exception; I just quickly looked through the first 3 issues of Thrawn that I have and they're all similar to the ISB yoke. If someone is willing to make an "ISB style" olive-green uniform, its definitely a possibility

I still believe there are enough images of the details of Thrawn’s Line Officer uniform  in detail, that it is irrelevant whether or not to have the high yoke or lower yoke. (Unsure of technical terms)

while the change is simple enough, the cover art is more iconic than that of the inside of the comic. The illustrations are hasty and lack much detail, where as time is spent on the cover art and less angular, more realistic artistic talent is applied.

I argue that it is the higher yoke that is most acceptable.

Let me put it this way, if I am dressed as the interior Thrawn Illustration holding up a comic book with the cover art,  appearing to be accurate, it appears that in fact I was too lazy to make the tunic appear as it does on the cover. Lol. It’s a case of irony.

grand admiral Thrawn, was in fact based on cover art as well, correct?

    Why not LT Thrawn too?

The realism is much more likely to recreate, on top of the fact that I’d be standing next to “real-life” valine officers from the film, wearing the same colors and a different top. It would appear odd and unprofessional.

  5. Based on the descriptions in Timothy Zahn’s book, Thrawn, and the artistry of the Marvel 2018 comics of the same name:

Lieutenant Thrawn is described and depicted as wearing a standard Olive Officer’s tunic, belt, and riding trousers and boots as Grand Moff Tarkin. Noting the lack of hat and optional black gloves. He is depicted wearing one or two code cylinders typically one on his left side near his rank insignia; depicted as a 2 red over 2 blue standard rank insignia.
