  1. Hopefully weapons are not required for submission - ordered my E-10 and SE-14r from 3DpropsNL and they are not expected for a while now.

For the vast majority of 501st CRLs weapons are optional. This is because for many Troops weapons are prohibited by organizers or local laws.

I’m sure there will be a list of acceptable, optional side arms that can go with this CRL, but they usually aren’t required for submission.

  2. Okay, thanks for the info. I'm not so concerned about ease of finding it, but more how how I'll be in Arizona lol!

I would greatly appreciate that, thank you!

Since the Officer tunic won’t likely be required underneath the trench, you can skimp with a t shirt to keep cooler

  3. I realize I'm a little late to this party, but perhaps the scarf can be added as an optional component? I feel like that would be more of a personal thing than an issued uniform article.

Also, can anyone direct me to where I can get dimensions for the extended belt box? I want to make my own.

The scarf issue will be dependent on how specific to the singular on screen character the CRL gets made.

I can measure mine and post dimensions

  4. Just an update for everyone following this:

Pictures have all been officially submitted to Detachment officers towards the creation of a new CRL.

If all goes well, hopefully they have this new CRL out sometime early in this new year.

  5. It is quite nice looking and I can't wait until all my bits are here and I can start assembly!

Can you post a few more pictures of the coat please - particularly the cuffs and the seams on the sleeves.
And is it just held closed by a belt? or are there some hidden snaps that keep it closed?

    Thanks!

It’s just held by the belt, the only fasteners on the entire coat are buttons at the cuffs. I’m out of town but here are a couple shots I took of just the coat:

  6. Regarding coat length, a lot of if has to do with the wearer’s height and leg length.

I’ve never seen a modern or historic trench coat that game much past the mid calf, you’d trip on it.

The coats in the films hit everyone at various points from just below the calf to just under the top of the boot, coats are probably all a common length and thus wearer height varies where they lie on the calf.

I’m 6-4 and have long legs so it hits me a little higher up on the calf

The CRL written here isn’t official, but I’m guessing it will remain the same as for the Line Officer Coat, which reads “mid-calf”

  7. Hoping the primary source for the coat improves now that he’s finished moving his business, but we should find another source or two.

From my understanding it’s the material that is tough to find, it’s a medium weight waterproof material, hard to find in olive drab, it’s why the coats are easier to find in black

  8. So I have another observation that I just came across.
Tell me if I'm crazy - but does it look like there is a built-up section of the armor behind the rank insignia?

I know this is Beckett - but again - as we have discussed previously - this is not Beckett's armor - it was taken from a dead Army Captain.

Any thoughts on how this detail could be incorporated? Maybe styrene?
I don't think PlasticArmsDealer's armor sculpt accounts for this.

I filled in under the rank bar prior to painting with hot glue, sanded it down and trimmed it flush. Once painted it filled in nicely.

I trimmed the side pieces off at the edges. Since the trench coat will be worn over the armor piece how the sides are cut will be hidden.

As far as the straps, I fashioned webbing with snaps to hold the neck piece to the front armor. The decorative straps I connected by heavy duty Velcro to the front and back, I glued on the “buckles”.

  9. I have just received my officers armor kit. Any tips on trimming & assembly? Also, are there any acceptable alternatives to the R1 style trench coat?

Where did you get your kit? And what needs to be done with it?

Coat wise, people have been trying to modify Swiss and German kradmantals (motorcycle coats), and using trenchcoat patterns from the 1970s, with heavy modifications. Not sure how much success people have had though.

  10. Cosmolene and old canvas.

I think I’m getting it next week, I’ve been out of town for the past 3 weeks anyway, so couldn’t work on the CRL

If it comes next week I’ll have some finalized pictures posted end of next week, if not, it won’t be till after the holidays
