  1. One question that just came into my mind, is the Chest Plate the same design like for the Mudtroopers? Except with a Rank Bar of course.

    Yep

only difference is it is completely unknown if they wear the back plate or not, never see it, and from screen grabs and behind the scenes images it’s impossible to tell if they are wearing one

  2. I agree with Stefan. R1 officers don't have a notch on their hat code disks. It's very unlikely that Solo officers would be different. Best to double check though, just in case.

Seems so, but we never see enough of a hat disk in the mimban scenes in solo to determine it 100%. My guess is it’ll be a level 2 thing. Though I plan on getting a new solid round disk to paint up.

    Powers that be will decide.

Also update: trench coat will arrive next week, I’m out of town but will submit pictures of that, and will have my full kit CRL submission pictures middle of December.

    Question for the group:

Do the Mimban officers wear the trooper shin guards over their boots? I don’t think it’s ever seen - but I feel like it would make sense - seeing as they are wearing the chest armor.

    Thoughts?

Nope, there is a shot posted above of the officer sitting behind the scenes, he’s just wearing high leather boots, no shin guards

  4. Armor WIP.

Chest, neck cowl, and shoulder straps are all painted with Krylon Italian Olive

Back straps are conjectural and won't be specifically required under the CRL as you can't see it.

I went with the rubber back straps as it looked better thematically, but plain web straps could also be used, or any other system to mount the visible part of the armor.

Waist attachment is drab elastic webbing which attaches via Velcro

Will weather it this afternoon and submit some completed shots

  5. Just an update on this so no one thinks I abandoned the project:

I've finally got the armor in hand, it's assembled and just needs a third touch up coat of paint, and to be weathered.

Once I can get Tapatalk to work again (which has been down), i'll get some photos posted of the completed armor.

Still waiting on my Trench Coat. which will finish off my kit.

I'm going to be out of town after the Thanksgiving Holiday for about 3 weeks, so unless the coat comes before I leave, I won't be able to submit my final full photos for this new CRL till Mid-December

  6. Interesting everyone comparing the Empire to the Third Reich when it’s really closer in structure and attitude to the British Colonial Empire of the early 20th century.

I’m mostly looking at this from a Canon only perspective.

The core (home islands) was wealthy and generally peaceful and prosperous under Imperil rule. There was some civil strife and horrid working conditions for the lowest classes (just like industrial Britain).

The emperor was largely a “hands off” ruler at times, allowing his regional governments to rule the empire and promoting a culture of cronyism, much like the British Monarchy at the turn of the century.

If you look at the worlds outside the galactic core they are all left mostly under semi autonomous control of regional moffs and governors, some prosper and are very pro Empire (Canada, Australia, New Zealand), others suffer under oppression (India, Africa), while even others are stripped bare of resources and exploited (again Africa, the Caribbean , the Far East).

Revolts and rebellions were handles roughly, and at times with very questionable methods both by the Empire and Imperial Britain.

Even the imperial uniforms have more in common with First World War British Officer uniforms than anything Third Reich.

A similar comparison could be made between the Empire and Imperial Germany, but to me it’s more akin to the British Empire at its height.

So really the Empire is neither good nor evil, both can be true from “A certain point of view” - Ben Kenobi.

Now the Third Reich comparison can easily be played at the First Order, which is far less subtle in its approach and is vocally genocidal and fanatical.

  7. Hugo Boss knew what he was doing.

That said, the uniforms are much closer to British Empire uniforms than German ones, and WW1 at that. This one, though, is definitely much more Nazi-inspired.

Either way, you just have to know your audience when you wear whatever costume you've chosen for the event.

The standard Line/staff Officer tunic is nearly identical to the British WW1 Royal Flying Corps tunic.

In the future, after the CRL for Bolandin is posted, would the potential for making a Major or Captain be an added option? If that does become the case, would it be safe to say that the code cylinders will be silver clips and the same amount as all other majors and captains on screen?

I think that is the plan going forward, to make the initial CRL specific then allow expansion to other ranks/similar looks, but that decision is above my paygrade

The Dosimeter (Code Cylinder) I posted as part of my WIP has the silver clip since all Code Cylinders seen in Solo and R1 are of this style.  Whether the final draft leaves this as an optional Level 2/3 requirement is left to be seen.  But my build is using silver clips, and using 3 of them as is seen on screen unusually attached to the trench coat collar.

Got your mail! We have talked about this guy a few times. When you got all the images of you in it let me know and we can get this rocking.

Waiting on some major components to come in, once I get everything together I'll post pictures of me in the kit, as well as detailed pictures to assist others in building one of their own.

  10. Don’t worry about the Blasters for now. Due to the modification of this new CRL being limited more specifically the only initially approved Blaster will likely be the SE14r pistol, which can be seen in a holster on the right hip of our example character.

More will prob get added as more variations to the CRL get published, but to get the initial CRL out in a timely manner it’s gonna be a bit restrictive at first. And for now i fixed the flashlight position on the E-10

  11. He also seems to have no fur on the collar of the coat.

Correct, the CRL is currently specific to a particular character per the request of Detachment Staff. Once this preliminary CRL gets clears we can create add on tabs to encompass other Mimban Officer characters that vary slightly from the base model (which is based on the one with the clearest screen shots and most screen time)

Another question: Has anyone been able to identify the rank badge of the major? And is this major Staz, whom we can see wearing a black staff officer tunic?

As of now the focus will be on the much better documented Lieutenant.  But from stills the Major pictured above is in an Olive colored trenchcoat, and his rank bar, if consistent with other R1/Solo bars would be 3 Reds and 2 Blues for an Army Major (which from what you can see seems to be the case)

  13. Question on the Dosimeters.

We can clearly see he has 3 clipped to the Trenchcoat.  However it is hard to tell which style they are.  My guess would be the sliver clipped R1 style seen elsewhere in Solo, but it is impossible to tell if they have the Blue tops....  So how do I word this?

I'm just thinking to speed up the process go with what we know, I'm not sure if it would be a named character CRL IE Borlandin (which restricts members as Facial characteristics would come into play)or Minban LT (which all can achieve),  if we get good references for the backgrounds they can be added as tabs at a later date.

Edits have been made above.  And CRL title edited to MIMBAN LIEUTENANT

  15. 7 minutes ago, Hask said:
That's why I'm saying concentrate now on the LT as with him we can see what he is wearing and if we cant then its optional IE the tunic, as to what you wear underneath as long as it cant be seen it could be anything

If we do this, would it be a CRL specific to Lieutenant Borlandin? Or could it still be generic to encompass other background officers and the Major?

  16. More pictures of the Major early in the Mimban scenes, armor, coat, hat, belt, etc all the same as the better pictured Lieutenant.

Also evidence of the gloves being the wrist length officer gloves and not the longer gauntlets.

Major wears his coat open and belt underneath instead of over the coat. He also does not appear to wear a scarf.

I’ve lightened up these screen caps as much as I can, I think I see a collar, but it’s hard to tell.

Are you talking about the background Officers where you can barely make out any details? Also once again Beckett is a disguise not an actual Imperial, but this will be a decision above my pay grade

Yeah, they are there, but little detail.  The Major at the beginning does not appear to have a scarf on either, sadly it is WAY to dark to see his collar.

It is also above my pay grade as well.  I'm certainly open to making it optional, but we'd need to have some guidance than as to what to wear underneath, if not an Officer tunic, then what?  The Mudtrooper jacket? A black shirt? Or would it be left open to the individual so long as not visible?
