Revisiting this post, because after three troops, the loops are starting to come loose.
My question is, does the collar have to be a specific hook and loop type fastener? Or would a Velcro fastener be acceptable for the neck?

Thanks! I'll reach out to them.

Now that I am officially a member of the 501st and have started trooping, how to I have my member profile updated on the main 501st website, with my costume picture? Does that go through my local garrison?

Congratulations on your first troop, Marc! Don't forget to request IOC access to the Forums so you can gain access to the "Imperial Hall of Commemoration" where you can log your troops. Here the link:
Thank you! And thanks for the link. I just put in the request.

Just stopping by to say that I completed my first troop yesterday. I am looking forward to many, many more!

Wait no more, check your email
Wow you all work so fast! To think, I only submitted my application less than 24 hours ago.
Gotta love that Imperial efficiency. Thank you!

I submitted my pictures for my Imperial Staff Officer uniform and my GML has approved my application! I am now (im)patiently awaiting the 501st to assign me my Legion ID. These are exciting times indeed.

Thanks for the support.
It's good to hear that everyone seems to have the same problem fastening the collar.
The collar fits fine once it's fastened. It's just getting there that's a pain.

I was able to remove and sew the fasteners on myself... with difficulty. But this is where I got. It looks fine, I think. But it's a pain to fasten and I think I'll have to make some additional modifications with the actual fabric the loops are attached too. I need more length, so that it's not so tight when i'm trying to fasten the collar. But for now, I think this should work.

Yes, just move the fasteners to a better position. It's ok if there's a very slight peek of silver, but you should not see the majority of the hooks like that.
It's a very easy hand sewing job, but if you're not comfortable doing it, any seamstress, tailor, or even drycleaners (the ones that do alterations) can do this easily. It's basically re-sewing on four buttons (and that's the worst case, if both sides need to move), so it shouldn't cost much.
It looks like the left side (viewer's perspective) is only lower because the hooks are poorly placed, so assuming the collar lines up once it's straight, you should be all set, as far as the collar is concerned.
Thank you! I never even thought of having a dry cleaner do it.
You are correct, the collar is even. It's the hooks that make it misalign.

Can you not simply cut off then re-sew the fasteners in a slightly better position?
One that both straightens the collar and makes them less visible? Or is the collar itself too tight to allow this?
Probably. The collar itself isn't that tight that moving the fasteners would be a problem. I may need to learn up on my sewing skills first though lol.

Okay thank you! I was hoping to be able to avoid having to send it back for alteration. But if I can't come up with any other solutions, that sounds like it may be my best option.

I just received my Staff Officer tunic in the mail from CosplaySky. It fits perfectly, with one exception. When I put it on, the neck fasteners are visible. Does anyone have any advice on how I may be able to fix this? I really do not have any experience when it comes to sewing. I've attached a picture to show what it currently looks like. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Thank you both! I did see that note in the CRL, but was really hoping there was a way around it. The modesty panel will be perfect.
