  1. HAPPY DAYS!!!! Happy days indeed !!!! WOO HOO

Congratz man, i do find the fact that your officer suit is first and for most the suit u wore to get married very awesome!!!!!

How can say " Nope this isnt a costume, i got married in this U.u "

    Very cool congratz again ^_^

  2. I opened up one side of mine to feed through a thin piece of plastic all the way to the other side. It stays in place quite well now. :)

Heavy interfacing between the two pieces. There are several types on the market, some are sew-in (which I use so it stays in place) and some are iron-on. Starch tends to dissipate after awhile and can stain your fabric after several uses. Plastic tends to break after awhile, but is a good solution. If you use this approach tell the cleaners that you have a plastic insert (unless you make the insert removable and remember to remove it, which isn't a bad idea). I personally use the interfacing on many costumes that need stiffening.

Theses two are the best ways to go from the start. but u can do this if the tunic is already made.

  3. he is ALWAYS busy, but he will get back to you.. i promise. right now he is swamped hard core..... so it may take him a few to get back to you on emails../pm's

HE is always busy, but top Notch. Just throw your money at him, no problem.

He certainly does. IMHO, If you want a 100% quality product & don't mind waiting forever and a day, Cal is your man! hahaha...

    YES!!!!

Bloodlust, if this is your first armor order you are in for a treat! LoL With most of the armorers there is usually pretty long waits. Don't get discouraged. I would recommend you put together one of the simple costumes like IC to allow you to become a full 501st member and Troop while you wait (probably almost a year) for your armor. Let us know how we can help and good luck!

AWESOME IDEA!!! If Moncal will be your first armor u are going to be spoiled and not settle for less in the future. Great start!!!!

    Cough CREWMAN Cough...

    LOL

  4.:cry: Man TD deployement / SWAT is so intimidating....... its going to be almost 3 yrs that my armor and all the items still sit in there boxs mocking me...... i only had the never to do the pack and i almost went crazy trying to get it screen accurate........

    it just seems so big........

  5. My suggestion:

    Wait for Boot jack

    1. place and use plastic bag on feet

    2. powder the inside of the tube with baby powder

    3. Try to put it on

    4. if it works then do the polishing and wear as long as u can

    5. Polish before removing

6.sit down or lay down 10-15 min before u remove

    7. Polish before and after use, this will hydrate leather and keep form

If u cant put them on them see if its a Calf issue or if its the " L" part

    Calf = coobler

"L" part = then use the alcohol idea

  6. NO!!!!! NO WATER!!!!, Polish them before you but them on extra work on the ankle area, but them on wear them all day, polish them before u take them off, repeat.

The best thing is to go to a cobbler if u try everything and nothing works and if its only stretching the calf area that can be easily done, 24 hrs or less. If your a risk taker an like to do things your self u can soak the calf area with medicinal alcohol, really soak it. put the boots on. the alcohol filled leather will stretch to your calf size. going up and down stairs and any other activities that will flex your calf will be good. Once the alcohol evaporates, apply shoe polish nice thick layer ( while still using the boots)and let it seep in for 30 -45 mins and reapply to re hydrate the stretched leather and protect. Polish and buff wear the boots the rest of the day. before u take of your boots at night reapply polish. Ideal one should polish before using and after using the boots. I have done this to many old boots and worked for me fine. but best idea would be to have a pro do it, they insert wooden calf's ( don't know the real name ) and expanded the leather. Also the leather will stretch with use, but u need to keep the leather hydrated with polish.

  7. Do u have a pic? My guess would be that the cloth used ( the dye) interacted with some chemical/cleaner etc that used around or near the suit and at the moment it was dry-cleaned the heat or method used oxidized the dye of the cloth giving the brown spots. ???? just throwing things in the air???

  8. bjsavage7 Thanks for the list I will have a look through it now and see what I can find, I got a quote form and English costume maker for just the tunic and trousers and they wanted £400 which I think is alot of money, could some one tell me is this around the right price for just the soft parts of this costume?

Thanks again for getting back to me.

    Sarah

£400 for a Tailored made and fit Imp officer sound correct..... $$$$$ but worth it. One thing u could try is check out local design schools and talk to teachers and students there. it would be good experiance for them and be cheaper. just a thought

  9. Lets see……. I will repeat some ( the ones I really think are important) and others I have demied also important.

1.- Boots!!!! Whereas costume as really everyday use, DON’T be a cheap skate!!! Get good ones!!! I actually have a pair of of GI leather boots that my Father got while he was in the Air Force as a Medical Officer ( Hematologist) at Wright-Patterson, in the 50´s. ( Yes he believes in the Conspiracy theories …. Regardless he has Pretty cool stories of the Base) :) Any way back to the boots, He wore them, till they had to get the soles changed ( Base cobbler told him to change the soles when my dad wanted to get a new pair) my Brother used them till they needed to have the soles changed once again, I still wear them and soles don’t need changed!!!!! Boots are more than 60 yrs old and Leather is still in awesome shape!!!!!!

2.- Take care of your good Boots, hydrate (with shoe/boot oils) the leather every so often, keep clean, polish and in appropriate storage when not in use ( don’t have then in the back of your closet collection dust)

    3. Break in your boots previous event, I personally use my Officer knee high boots at least 2-3 day before a big event, to let the leather readjust, polishing before and after using them.

4.- Brush up on Legion History and Local Garrison/Squad/Outpost history, I have noticed that ppl are more chatty with me in my Officer then with a outfit that has a Helmet.

    5. Always have one of thous dust/ hair stiky roller thingies to keep your outfit tip top in events.

    6. I personally don’t salute as a Officer, not being in any of the branches of the Military I feel uncomfortable saluting as I am a simple civilian, but I do click my heels and bow my head like u see in the Movies ;)

    7. PLZ REMEMBER THAT THE BELT DOESN’T GO ON YOUR WAIST!!!!!! IT GOES AT THE LEVEL OF YOUR NAVEL!!!!!!!
